Owens errs in telling his Super Bowl story
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - There was no "secret waiver."
In the midst of stating the case for a new contract he has been trying to get from the Eagles, disgruntled wide receiver Terrell Owens told a Super Bowl story that wasn't true.
"What really has me mad is that I feel I'm being disrespected," Owens said during an ESPN interview last night. "Everybody is saying I'm not putting the team first. I rehabbed my butt off for 61/2, 7 weeks for the team. Nobody knows that I had to sign a secret waiver to relieve them from any liability just in case I got hurt in that game."
Owens' former agent, David Joseph, said shortly after the Super Bowl that his client was not asked to sign any insurance waiver by the Eagles before playing against the New England Patriots in the NFL title game. Owens played in the game despite the fact that he still had a surgical screw in the right ankle that had been operated on six weeks earlier.
"That's absolutely not true," Eagles president Joe Banner said when asked about Owens' waiver statement. "We never discussed it with him. The funny part is, we discussed it internally, but we decided that if he was willing to take the risk to try to win the Super Bowl, then we should be willing to take the same risk."
It's possible Mark Myerson, the surgeon who operated on Owens' ankle, made him sign a waiver. Myerson refused to give Owens medical clearance to play in the game.
Dude is digging his own grave, moment by moment.

Funny that you didn't bold this part.

Sure it is relevant. TO asserted that he had to sign a waiver. What he didn't say was that he signed it at the request of time. Hence, it appears that TO was referring to a waiver he had to sign for the doctor to waive the doctor from any liability should TO get hurt.
TO didn't lie.

Give me your addresses...I'll mail each of you a crying towel.
Secondly, fuck TO for lying about what the Eagles asked him to do and fuck him and his agent for suggesting that he put his life on the line for that team. The Eagles owe him only what TO agreed to in his contract. If TO thinks that is not enough then he better come up with an argument demonstrating why last year's performance merit a new, more valuable contract.

Contradict yourself much? If the Eagles only owe TO what was agreed to, then there IS no argument that TO can present that will merit a new contract.
PS: Rack the fuck outta Orc.

You wanna talk football? Great, then join in.
Go on one of your patented idiotic rants, though-and I (as well as the rest of the forum) will blast you so fucking far into outer space that NASA will be handing us medals.
Are we better here in the NFL forum? You

All I will say is....go fuck yourselves. Threaten all you want. Play your little pile on games. It don't fucking matter.
So eat a dick and if you don't like the post, fucking ignore it and quit crying like a little bitch.
BTW - I'll be having a drink tonight hoping for TO to wreck his knee during the preseason. This dude is as bad as Keyshawn Johnson.

Good God you're a fucking baby. Feel free to hate on Owens all you want. Trust me, it is not like there's a lot of people here showing the love for TO. But spare us your Main Street style racial blasts.

Gotta say the Eagles are in the shit now. They will still probably win the East, purely on lack of competition, but no way they make it to the NFC championship, let alone the Super bowl

The one recent exception is Owens. The Eagles acquired T.O. in a trade, but was basically a free agent after he demanded his way out of San Francisco. Owens immediately delivered in Philadelphia; he had 77 catches for 1,200 yards and 14 TDs in 14 games and helped quarterback Donovan McNabb have his best year as a pro.
With no proven receiver on the Eagle roster, defenses will play man and key on Westbrook. My opinion is that while they have a stellar defense, they will not be able to win every playoff game 13-10.
I also happen to like Carolina (at this time barring major injuries) to represent the NFC vs. KC in the Super Bowl

Before TO what proven receiver did the Eagles have that enabled them to get to 3 straight NFC title games?

3 straight games that they lost, BTW.
They were a different team last year with TO as McNabb had his most succesful season.
My opinion remains a significant lack of competition in the NFC East allows the Eagles to get by with an offense that is lacking a downfield threat. Unless Washington surprises the Eagles win the NFC East, but they will not go far in the playoffs.

True.
I saw Washington play last night Vs the Panthers. The offense looked terrible. Ramsey had a hard time completing anything longer than 5 yards. The QB position is the Skins Achilles’ heel....I know big surprise. Unless the defense can score every game they'll average under 20 points a game.
Joe Gibbs looks as lost on the sidelines as Steve Spurrier. I didn't think that was possible.
Dallas looks to be Philly's biggest competition in division, even with Bloodhole the statue at QB and having to stay in max protection the whole season.

Very true- they never would have won the NFC championship game if they didn't have TO. Oh, wait- he wasn't there! Having TO on the field is obviously a huge advantage- but with #5 and #36- they still have their two biggest offensive weapons.

... and, as always, defense wins championships. I think the Eagles have that area covered rather well.
