I think pre-season is were character is built.

The Niners went 0-4 in pre-season last year under the worst coach and GM in history... and you saw what that brought.

2-14 last year.

In the past I would agree that pre-season didn't mean shit...

But, in the era of players training year round and not using camp to get into shape, it has a whole different synopsis.

training camp= good time for the practice squad guys to get autographs of the superstars since they'll never be on the same level.

Preseason is a joke. There are too many games. It's a huge money maker for most nfl teams because they require season ticket holders to buy the pre-season tickets at part of the package (at least the Eagles do).

Coaches can usually tell within a few weeks, what guys are good enough and which players should have gone to the CFL.

If anything preseason increases the chances for starters to get hurt but money rules in the NFL.

So nevermind the fact that in the pre-season teams have their 3rd stringers in the game by the 2nd quarter. I suppose that doesn't affect the outcome of the game at all. :roll:
