They probably are required to take this class

Straight from the OU website:

PHILOSOPHY

South Park , Pop Culture, Media and Philosophy
PHIL 2900 850
3 credits/Letter graded
David Kyle Johnson
Aug.2-6,8-12,15-19
10:00am-1:10pm
GH 102
South Park and other "popular media," such as The Simpsons, the Matrix Trilogy and The Lord of the Rings, addresses (and sometimes tries to answer) many philosophical, religious and ethical issues dealt with in modern philosophy. The class will watch much of this media and study many of these issues.
Prerequisite: None

Evidently this was a class Tommy Grady was taking in summer school to stay eligible. This was the class that Stoops told Grady to stay away from practice in order to study for the finals. I thought it was a joke until I looked it up and it really is a class there.

Damnit, man! I'm now 0'fer 2.

I never had a hot hooker teacher try to give me oral floabies when I was 14 and I never got to attend classes that soaked in the nature of South Park and other "popular media," such as The Simpsons, the Matrix Trilogy and The Lord of the Rings.

I want a do-over.

maybe you don't know it Vito, but popular culture is taught at pretty much every university.

Yea, every university is analyzing South Park for it's answers to life's tough questions.

I wonder what the final looked like.

1. Who always dies and comes back in every South Park Episode?

A. Cartman
B. Chef
C. Kenny
D. The alien with the anal probe

2. Who runs the Quicky Mart?
A. Homer Simpson
B. Apoo
C. Sideshow Bob
D. Krusty the Clown

Essay question
Compare and Contrast Homer Simpson to the average Oklahoma fan in intelligence, sex appeal and ability to drink beer on the job? Why is Norman OK considered the Springfield of the US?

OK, I'll bite. Though I hardly see the need to defend OU's decision to study the genious that is South Park. Where else could you get such relevant, weekly topics as the following:

Voter Apathy and the Two Party System: Why most elections come down to a vote between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

Celebrities and Ego: Part 1 - How Rob Reiner's seven chins have blinded him from the hipocrasy of an obese slob lecturing the public on the health concerns of smoking.

Performance Enhancing Drugs and the Special Olympics: Why even the most mentally-challenged children know Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Jason Giambi are ass-hats.

Celebrities and Ego: Part 2 - Rosie O'Donnel and Barbra Striesand suck donkey balls.

Sounds like a great class to me. At the very least, it compares favorably to some of the gems I found on the UT website.

RTF 370: Contemporary Hollywood Cinema

RTF 343: National Lampoon Comedy

RTF 335: Contemporary TV Programming - HBO

RTF 386: Feminist and Queer Film Theory

Then, there are the the classes, which I think serve as survival guides for UT students. They include:

WGS 345: Gays / Lesbians in American Society (A must for anyone venturing onto 6th Street)

RHE 379: Overcoming Reading Difficulties (Senior-level capstone)

Finally, there are the courses specifically for the football players:

RHE 306: Rhetoric (Spring and Summer Semesters only)

HMN 350: In Search of Meaning (Special enrollment - third week of October)

Fuck Texas :)

Well, Utah players are the only ones AB can run smack on seeing as how nobody on Tejas' roster has a win over OU.

Believe the Heupel wrote:That's the word. He'd like to go to USC or UCLA, but he'd be a tool to do so. It's not like the QB situation at either school would be better for him than it is at OU, what with Olson at UCLA as a freshman and either Sanchez or Booty being the heir apparent at USC. I've also heard Fresno State, where his brother played.

Biggest factor on Utah is the old OC for Fresno is there and the family loves the guy.
I doubt Fresno State. His family wasn't real happy with the entire son/Pinnegear situation at QB and the resolution.
