Best tight end, Teyo wasn't.
Cut the only real FB, perhaps true.
Crockett does more as a runner also, and is just a better all-around player.
I frankly think that FB is one of the weaker areas on the Oakland roster though.

What Teyo Johnson was was another recent high draft pick bust.
Chokeland has had a lot of those lately.
Not sure if he was part of the Gruden compensation or not but how is that trade looking for Oakland right about now?
A ton of draft picks dont mean shit if your team only draft based on 40 times.

Considering that Gruden was leaving anyway, Al getting ANY picks for him was a major plus.
Al made the very best of the situation in front of him.
Oakland traded one of the picks from the Bucs (N. Harris) as a large part of the deal to acquire R. Moss.
Teyo was a 2nd rd pick.
Yep, looks like a "wasted" pick.
Not part of the Gruden deal though, not that it really matters.
Speaking of bad picks, Mule fool, how'd Mr Ohio St. stud work out as a 3rd rd selection....?
Every team in the league blows picks.
Nature of the business.
Oakland hasn't done as well in the draft as I would have liked over the past few yrs.
This year's crop looks A-OK though.
Time will tell.

Clarett was chosen with a compensatory pick by Denver. It was essentially an extra pick in the third round. Why not take a flyer on him there?

Exactly.
Our RB coach was pushing hard for MC and Shanny gave him his wish. In retrospect it was a horrible decision but it was essentially a gift pick.
BTW Poptart I wasn't really smacking you in the above post. Honestly I sort have developed a grudging respect for you as a level headed fan as well as a decent read.
What can I say this place is growing on me I guess.
IMO Al Davis falls in love with players based on 40 times and little else. Both of the CB's you drafted this year look to be projects who would have been available later. Meanwhile our 2nd round DB is kicking ass now and looks to have a real future in this league.
Like you said, time well tell but if I was a Raider fan and I had seen what the team had drafted with the picks we traded away a Super Bowl win for I'd be pissed off personally.

Because he is useless.
Compensatory or not, it was a wasted pick.
Why not take a flyer on someone who can actually play ball for your team....?
That head-case could NOT.
Face it, y'all are rationalizing a poor move.

I'm not saying I would have taken Clarett with ANY pick. It turns out NOW to be a wasted pick since he got cut, but it seemed reasonable to me at the time. I'm glad the Ravens didn't try it, but it didn't seem that far out of line for Denver to take a shot at him.

Courtney anderson is MUCh better in our system. Teyo could not get his head on striaght and had to go. I see John Ritchie was cut by the Eagles. a possible reunion??? BTW Crockett was decent as FB but is better suited as a short yard back.

Raiduh fans want the OLD Ritchie back.
I want the OLD Ritchie back too.
Not sure the current Ritchie is healthy enough to be the OLD Ritchie.
I dunno.
Crockett is alright as a FB.
I don't lose sleep over him at the position, but I do think a team can do better than to have him as the man at FB.

...and here I thought that was a prerequisite to being a Raiduh

Yep on all counts.
Why Shannahan opted to waste a pick on that malcontent is beyond me.

Teyo Johnson was a pussy, to scared to go up the middle and was a terrible blocker. 6'6 270lb Anderson has the hands, bulk, and speed which is amazing for how big this guy is. Kid looks like another lineman.

At least we didnt draft him number 2 and expect him to be the franchise like a certain organization did in 98.

Id say touche, but Seabass is still in the league and wasnt billed as the franchise savior.
