Too bad. I was looking forward to the next Cards-Bucs series to see what fireworks flew from the man so quick to go to the racism card.

the guys was horrible

he couldn't manage a middle school team. I'm suprised the Pirates put up with his assanine lineups and pitching changes this long.

He seemed to hang onto that job for too long. They've got some good young pitching and a few good bats. Maybe they can bring back Leyland?

Doesnt matter who is the manager. This team is too cheap to go get talent,or keep the talent they have. That Duke kid will be the next great Brave pitcher. The fans in Pittsburgh should get some torches and run the Pirate owners out of town. 13 striaght losing seasons is inexcusable. Even the Royals have finished over .500 in that time span.

As long as they are owned by McClatchy(sp), they will never spend what it takes to make a contender. New ballpark, yet the same shitty team.

Gone as in fired or gone as in quit? He's been one of the best managers this season for his work in getting the A's into postseason contention when they looked like a team that would lose 90-100 games. Who are the A's going to get that will do any better?

I can't think of any, unless they dig up Billy Martin!

With the way the Tigers are playing down the stretch, Trammell may be on borrowed time. I'd love to see a no-nonsense guy like Leyland in the dugout. Phil Garner didn't work out in Detroit but they didn't exactly have a good team for him to manage. This is a club that if it stays healthy and they can add a closer, another front line starter and one more bat...they should be able to contend for the Wild Card. They did for most of this season until the wheels came off.
