The hope within the hope

Seeing OU go from multiple National Title games in the past few years and then opening this season like they have this year makes me really appreciate the start FSU has gotten off to.
Every fan has high hopes for a winning/bowl appearence season for thier team. There are a handful of teams that you would expect to consistently have national title expectations, such as in recent years USC, OSU,OU, LSU, Auburn, and a few others. Now don't start cracking that I forgot so and so in this category as I am sure I have yet it is not central to my point. FSU fans during the late 80's and 90's always had he hope/expectation that thier team would be in contention for the Nat. title and any thing less would be a let down. An early or mid season loss meant a drop in the polls and the reality that you were out of the title hunt. Sure you hope the team finishes strong and goes to a major bowl yet that fire for the title has been sapped from you.
Enter Chris Rix, Jeff Bowden, and or other factors that erodes your hopes of a run at the title. You still follow your team cloesly, rejoice in thier victories and mourn thier defeats but in the back of your mind you begin to accept that they are a 8-3 or 9-2 team. I have really missed that feeling of hope over the past 4 years that this year could be another title year. I don't think this years FSU team is a legitimate contender this year but seeing freshman qb and a group of sic freshman receivers has renewed that hope for the next few years. Hello old friend its been along time since I've seen you.
I guess the point to this post is to let OU fan know we feel youre pain. We have been there and know how it feels to fall far fast. Hang in there you will be back. Hopefully not for several years though

I also feel a little for OU as well. Since FSU lost to OU, FSU has lost a little bit of that swagger. Losing two coordinators and hiring an enept OC will do that, but I am glad to see that it looks like we're a year away from being what we were for almost 2 decades. In a year or two, OU will be back on top, that is unless Stoops bolts for the NFL.

as it turns out.....

OU didnt belong in those national title games

I heard that Stoops had 2 linemen quit on the team the week before the season started and that he may be losing this team. maybe he can go be an assistant to Mike at Zona and the Sooners can hire Malkovich(sp) to come coach them

I still hold my belief that USC has gotten away without playing LSU and Auburn. The more I see Cadillac run, the more I know Ronnie Brown and Caddy Williams would have run all over USC. It is quote sad to think......everyone in here will tell you that the SEC has been the best conference hands down the last few years.....well how can you say you are a NATIONAL champion and NOT play the best team from the best conference....LSU in 03 and AU in 04???????

USC has lucked out. I look at Texas this year. WTF!!!! ANother Big 12 blowout in a title game. Another butcher-raping and it makes me vomit.

The SEC conference blows goats.....

1 1/2 decent teams does not a strong conference make.

You mean like the way they dropped ZERO points on us when we played them in THEIR crib in 2003? Please. Our defense was better in 2004 than it was in 2003.

You're an idiot Trix, go back to holding Urban's jock.

edit: to prove ^^^^^ that you're an idiot, let's review the following

2003 USC vs. Auburn

Code: Select all

Auburn Rushing
 	                       CAR YDS AVG TD	LG
Carnell Williams 12	40	3.3	0	14
Ronnie Brown 8	28	3.5	0	12
Jason Campbell 16 -25 -1.6 0 8

HUH? I said LSU in 2003 ya fucking tard. Can you fucking read or....let me guess.....you went to some JC in Rancho Cordova. So, you beat an AU team in 2003. What does that have to do with 2004??? Or LSU in 03????

Listen, ya board bitch....get your YEARS straight or do I need to spell it our for you?

Its funny how you melt just because you lucked out and didn't play any real teams from a real conference.

FSU fan racking USC fan. Another circle jerk. Hey chief....you do know that LSU was the best in 2003 and Auburn was in 2004.

Hey jimmy the stupid fuck....so, cal beat you in 2003, right? But then you beat them last year? Right? But under your dumbass thinking it shouldn't be possible. Fucking USC tards. Can't wait for the giant meltdown. That bitch ass schedule WILL haunt you sometime this year.

PS Please explain what 2003 Auburn has to do with 2004 Auburn? Next you'll tell me that OU this year is the same as last year. YOu might make yourself a board bitch nominee on one post. Nice.

Cicero, FSU lost 1 coordinator. Mark Richt, former O coor. is now head coach at Georgia. Chuck Amato was linebacker coach at FSU prior to taking the Head job at NCS.
I am sure you just made a slip up but I felt the need to spell it out for TREX as no doubt he will have some opinion being such an FSU fan and all.

I cannot believe what I am reading. You can't be serious (and save the "well SC didn't play them in 2004" bullshit).

Fucking RACK Meds!

P.S. I wonder if Arkansas' asses have stopped hurting from the plungering they were subjected to on Saturday night.

SC set the plunger depth mark in the Piggies so lets see another SEC team match it, hang 70 on Arkansas or beat them by 53 and you may prove youre in USC's league

If a bottom tier Pac qb like Sam Keller throws for 461 on LSU, Leinart would throw for 2 miles

Ok, so I'm not the only one that has noticed the TREX love affair with FSU??!! Oooops, there was another emoticon...

TREX...you brought up Brown and Williams rushing successes. Meds just handed your ass to you...don't be so bitter.

for Keller to be "bottom tier" then there needs to be 5 QB's in the Pac-10 better than him.

name them.

How? What does 2003 have to do with 2004? Nothing. In fact, if Cal beat USC in 2003 then USC beat Cal in 2004 why couldn't Auburn beat USC in 2004??????????

Just answer the fucking question..........

Posted: Tue Sep 20, 2005 1:56 am
by TheChief
Why do you think Brown and Williams would have ran wild on USC last year? Did they recruit a couple athletic 400 lb offensive guards that I didn't notice? Why are you bringing Cal into the mix?

68 yds on 20 carries, tell us o wise one why 2004 would've been different.

or

just admit that you didn't think when you wrote:

HUH? You aren't this stupid? You avoided my question completely like the little FSU punk you are.........if CAL can beat USC in 03 and USC can beat CAL in 2003 then why can't Auburn have beaten USC in 2004??????

Tell me what the fuck one year has to do with the next year? Hey, many on this board preach all the time how different a team is one year to the next. The dynamics, the experience, THE TEAM. Hell, it would have been a revenge game even. I am sure you'll tell me that it would have made no difference. You make no sense, like always. Caddy is dominating in the pros or are you going to tell me that USC is as good as a pro team????

Why is your argument always "Don't dodge the question" or "Answer the question"...?

Seriously man, you made a STUPID COMMENT....a STUPID, STUPID, STUPID COMMENT. Just let it go...

T Rex, for you to not acknowledge USC's dominance is pathetic. Auburn was so good last year that they struggled in their bowl game against a two loss team and USC demolished an OU team w/ 12 future NFL round picks and countless others who werent eligible. USC beating Auburn in 03 is valid cause Ronnie and Caddy were both starters and Leinart/Bush were first year starters.

T Rex you are doing a great job of keeping pace in the board bitch race.

He's been my choice since the mindless ramblings started pre-season. m2, while out near Saturn, I believe posts his takes tongue in cheek...Babs will always be babs, and will disappear after M-State loses a few....

So, I humbly submit that you all reconsider you earlier votes and pay heed to my endorsement of T Rix as board biatch for 2005.....

I remember Texas beating Stanford 70-14 and then the next year losing to those nerds.

That was back before we had a real DC.

Still it is a valid statement that success one year does not guarantee success the next. Still as of right now looking back over the last 2 years no team has come close to matching USC. The only way USC loses this year is if they play flat and their opponent plays the perfect game.

USC in the Rose bowl is going to be nasty, as far as I can tell the only teams that could give them a game are Texas tOSU and possibly LSU.

difference between 03 and 04 in regards to USC, in 03 USC lost to Cal, they lost to them at Cal and it took the bears 3ots to beat the Trojans by just 3 points.
USC went to Jordan Hare and demolished Allbarn, it was in Allbarns shed and they never crossed midfield. True things did change since, but USC went to the south in a game where Reggie Bush and Lendale White didnt get to play much and Matt Leinart threw his first collegiate pass. Ill admit that Allbarn improved but you have to be incredibly fuckin stupid (or southern, same thing) to not beleive that USC improved just as much since that game...if not a little more

the stats on USC are just sick..first 4 touchdown drives in the first quarter lasted..38 seconds, 6 seconds, 26 seconds, and 12 seconds.
Houston Nutt after the USC game, "USC scores so fast, it just messes you up."

the rose bowl will be won by 21 points.

You were referring to Auburn you 'fucking tard'. And in the matchup we had with them, we owned them. While true we didn't get the opportunity to play LSU in 2003, we also OWNED Iowa that year and would have given LSU a better game.
Listen, ya board bitch....get your YEARS straight or do I need to spell it our for you?
Are we referring to the pre-Zook years or the post-Zook years here?
Its funny how you melt just because you lucked out and didn't play any real teams from a real conference.
Melt? Let's count national championships again for a moment and see who's the bitch here...
FSU fan racking USC fan. Another circle jerk. Hey chief....you do know that LSU was the best in 2003 and Auburn was in 2004.
Tell me this, Trix. How would Florida do against USC. Better yet, tell me what gameplan you'd devise to keep the game within thirty points.

I'll leave the lights on for you...

Rack you for riding The People's Choice National Champion's jock, Trix. Beating 03 Auburn has a lot to do with 04 Auburn when a know-nothing bitch named Trix drops the following take:
The more I see Cadillac run, the more I know Ronnie Brown and Caddy Williams would have run all over USC
The fact is, Trix, they had their shot in 03 and got prison-raped by a young USC defense that only got better in 04.

But let's drop that line of comparison and focus strictly on 04. We beat VaTech in 04 by 11 points...your mancrush Tigers of Auburn only beat them by 3.

Now go fuck yourself you worthless piece of shit.

Killian, change my vote for 2005 Board Bitch from m2 to Trix. You can tell he wants it badly.

couple of things about arkansas

1. They suck
2 They are young in the dbackfield.

not a good combonation when facing USC, but don't think this is a predictor of all USC's games. Fact is Taco Tech can probably hand about 50 on the piggies for the same reason the Trojans hung 70 on them.
