Maybe we should have planted a UM flag at mid field yesterday. Four in a row, you here that babs? Four fucking years in a row. Your own coach said UM is a better team, after the game. How's that taste bitch.
GO BLUE!!!

Suckle and flail away, bitchmen. The games are very close. MSU is 4-1, and probably still close to the top 15. UM is 3-2, and needs serious help for a BCS game.
We control our destiny in the B-10. And still have a shot at the Fiesta. As long as we win.

If #19 in both polls is close to the top 15, then you are correct!
Oh, and why throw in a 'go PSU' when you control your own destiny? I would think the results of that game shouldn't matter at all to you.

I like Michigan's chances of winning out more than your's...thats for sure.
I can garuntee right now that Michigan State WILL NOT win out, and I am willing to bet that they will end up with more losses than Michigan.
State could lose one or all of the following:
AT OSU
AT PURDUE
AT MINNESOTA
Penn State
Michigan has two games I'm really worried about right now:
At Iowa (even though Iowa blows this year)
and OSU in Ann Arbor.

I don't give two shits what bowl game the Wolverines go to since they aren't going to the only one that counts...we ruined State's unbeaten record and hopefully when Ohio State comes to town in November with the Big Ten on the line, we ruin their season. I'm encouraged with what I saw on Saturday with the return of Hart and seeing an aggressive defense. It's not too late to win the conference but the big prize is already gone out the window so I just play out the string as a fan.

I respect the fact that you are a Michigan fan, but we couldn't be more different as Michigan fans.
1) The Big Ten is Michigan's goal, everything else is bonus.
2) We dont' ruin MSU's season. MSU is just a pain on the schedule, and they ruin our season. They NEVER make our season.
3) Football should be about the current game...the current goal. We can't worry so much about the National Championship, one 1 team out of 117 get that chance, and you are setting yourself up for dissapointment every year if that's your expectation. I don't care if you are a USC fan, a OU fan, a Michigan fan or an Eastern Michigan fan, your enjoyment should come from the individual games and the moments that come from them.
Sure its dissapointing that Michigan lost 2 games they shouldn't have, but there are a lot of games to be played, and a lot of great moments to be had. A BCS Bowl isn't out of reach and another succesful season can be attained.
Shoalzie, I think you are a good guy, but I think your priorities are off for a true Michigan fan.

That's the problem though...the conference shouldn't be your only goal going into a season. When you're rated in the top 10 or 15 every year, you have to expect more from your team. Lloyd Carr gets such a boner for just the Big Ten title...that's probably why they lose every key non-conference road game. They don't matter enough to him. They didn't have one this year but it's been the case every year.
The way I see it, you're a national title contender until you lose a game. Unfortunately, it's usually within the first three games that Michigan falls on their face. We need to expect more from this team. My view is win the national title or nothing at all. I've mentioned before that this system is flawed where you can have a solid year of one or two losses and end up playing in a consolation game in January. I wouldn't take losing so hard if there was a second or even a third chance for this team to win it all. Right now, it's a matter of go unbeaten or settle for the conference and a decent bowl game.
I'd definitely prefer to see the Wolverines run the table from here on out, which would probably put them in a BCS or New Year's Day game. It's nice but you don't really get anything for it. When it comes to a 1, 2, 3 or 4 loss season, they're all the same to me...you aren't winning a national title. I've seen enough Big Ten titles and Rose Bowl appearances...I want more of what we saw in 1997.

So; you're saying that MSU drops EIGHT spots, (Nine in the Harris) after losing a well fought overtime game by a 30 yard FG?!
What fucking poll did that?!
State should drop about 4-6 spots TOPS! Our guy missed a damn 40 yarder, or we're in Double OT !!!!

RACK. Finally, a realistic Michigan fan.
And props to Michigan and Chad Henne. It took one of the worst secondaries in div 1 college football to make him look good, but damn, he sure did look good. Hart looked great too. They basically did whatever they wanted against MSU. The worst part was, you knew MSU's D would crumble and there was nothing else you could do but look on and watch the pain. I thought they only way MSU would win halway thru the game would be if they scored a TD on every drive because stopping Michigan wasn't an option.

Good for the Samoan

Because of the system, that's what we as college football fans are resorted to doing every year. Only 1 or 2 teams go unbeaten every year and get a chance to play in the national title. The odds are slim to run the table and get invited to the big game...I get that. Believe me, beating State made my season up to this point but still, a making a New Year's Game is so overrated. I'm just so fed up with this retarded bowl system...college football is a beautiful game but it's horrifically flawed.

Shoalzie,
I used to be there with you. But since we now lose so early, I have a hard time blowing off 3 months of the season that I wait so long for. I now take satisfaction in ruining teams season. Every year we hear of Minnesota, or Purdue, or MSU, or Iowa stepping up into Big 10 prominence. I love when they come into our game undefeated and "controlling their own destiny". Ask Minnie, Purdon't, MSU, and the rest how they recover from a Michigan beating. They usually spiral out of control, and end up in a bowl game in Hawaii, or El Paso or something. You ought to try this angle, the perverbial spoiler role. Plus for me, if UM shits the bed and doesn't win the Big 10 they usually play their bowl game in sunny Florida where I happen to reside. We can also pin our hopes for this season on beating the Buckeyes and reversing the disturbing trend of late.
So you see young Shoalzie, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic. Only one team wins it all, if that's all that matters to you, you are destined for far more dissappointment than joy.
Stay Blue Shoalzie...Stay Blue.
PS... Do you still watch the NHL playoffs when the Wings lose in an early round?

i'm more of a blindref-type fan than a shoalzie-type. i couldn't imagine losing interest in michigan after a loss or two. why even watch cf if that's the case? aside from usc, we're not even gauranteed one undefeated team in all of college football, let alone one in anne arbour. and if it's the bowl system that's to blame for yr waning interest, how exactly will a playoff help? all it'll do is postpone yr wavering commitment. i'd rather the team i support lose two early games and endure an exodus of "fans" before rallying to a successful season than watch my regular season champ choke in the first game of the playoffs. i know that you'd say something about nothing left to play for, but there's a lot more to play for than some championship ppl rarely agree on anyhow. like ohio state. i really don't care if we ruin their season or not. i'm more interested in michigan winning because ohio state's the program we measure ourselves against.
my recent frustration with carr has more to do with how fooken tense he gets at the sight of notredame and ohiostate, not an inability to win a national championship. even a big ten championship, though that hasn't been much of an issue lately.

It's a little different there. For one that's an actual "playoff"...you have total closure that your season is over. I do continue to watch because I love the sport. With Michigan losing a game or two early on, you don't have total closure over the matter but you know there is no chance to win the whole ball of wax. They're still very alive for the Big Ten. I'm not saying winning it doesn't matter on a certain level. Believe me, I don't like seeing any of the other 10 teams have bragging rights. That's pretty much what you're left to when you title hopes are dashed...bragging rights. I want Michigan to kick some Gopher ass this weekend and keep the Little Brown Jug. I want to kick some Buckeye ass in November when they come to town with the potential of playing for the conference crown (again). I'm more of a bowl hater than Big Ten title hater...once the regular season ends, the bowl games don't do anything for me. I'd love to brag about another Big Ten title, believe me, but I don't care what bowl game they go to...you don't advance in a tournament, so big whoop. Believe me, I was hooting and hollering last Saturday with that State game. I walked around with a big grin on my face the rest of the day. The games are totally meaningless but they would mean more if they were still unbeaten.

Anyone who starts the season ranked in the top 10, or at least top 5 (like a Michigan), and loses one game early, still has a pretty legitimate shot at getting to the title game, and obviously a chance at winning "the whole ball of wax". You should know that.

Generally the Wings win it all, or get the hell out of the way early. It's nice that they don't tease the fans with a deep run that doesn't pan out. Except for 95 vs. the damn devils
