...so I'm talking with Nate Carter the other day about the fact that Chris Paul came down and worked out with OU. (We all remember what a college stud Paul was for his year...) Nate can't shut up about how fast this guy is...
...he then goes on to tell me the squads for that scrimmage. Apparently Terrell Everett was the one spending most of the time (trying to) check(ing) Paul. Nate also told me that his and Terrell's team won about half of the runs, with Paul and Taj Grey's team splitting.
That either bodes really well for the Sooners this year, or really poorly. I'm gonna guess the former.

Only decent team this year in the Big XII will be the 'horns. Get a couple of those bastards injured, like last year, and its a free-for-all.

didn't Paul play two years at Wake?
if i'm wrong, i'm wrong....but that's what i seem to remember.
I think OU is going to be solid. will contend for the Big XII...and is a Sweet Sixteen type team (whether they make it or not is a dif story). most of it will depend on whether JUCO Walker can play the point and slide Everett over to the two. and can Bookout be effective enough in the post (and at the stripe) to keep people from sagging two guys on Taj Gray (a la Tech last year). and perimeter shooting to a degree. is Michael Neal really that good....Kelvin seems to think so. Lawrence Mackenzie is a bigger loss than Drew Lavender in this regard.
i also suspect that OU may lose a couple it shouldn't early and all the football fans and OUInsider clodhoppers will start calling for Kelvin's head on a platter since they heard OU was supposed to 'whup up' this year. and that his style of play is boring.

Yes. Are the Cowboys going to crush? You looking at the Cyclones backcourt? Did the denim-boy recruit every JuCo star for the Sooners?

Yeah we are only ranked in the top 8 of every publication with any creadibility and one media orginization predicting a national title. But hey what do people who do this for living know about it, right?

If he plays as well as I've seen him play, Nate is an upgrade from most of the 2/3 guys in the Big 12.
Seriously.
I was talking with Kellen about Nate during OU / Texas weekend, and he said that he likes to give Nate shit about, "who is Nate Carter? Never even scored a point at OU. I've got 25." I laughed and then said to Kellen, "yeah, how long's that gonna last?" He stopped laughing, looked right at me, and said "one game."
The team thinks Nate's for real. Kelvin obviously did. The people Nate's played against thinks he's for real... Basically, even though he sucks at Tiger Woods 2K5, I think he's gonna be pretty good at this hoops thing.
