Your thoughts after two months?
MVP candidates (in no particular order)...
AL: Rodriguez, Roberts, Tejada, G. Anderson
NL: D. Lee, Pujols, Glaus, C. Lee
Cy Young candidates (in no particular order)...
AL: Halladay, Rogers, Buehrle, Garland, Colon
NL: Peavy, Mulder, Willis, Beckett, Webb, Hernandez
Biggest surprises...
Oakland: I didn't expect the bottom to fall out on them like this.
Baltimore: They're ahead of the Yankees and Sox at this point in the season...big time surprise.
Arizona: Would've thought they'd be better off without Johnson?
Chicago White Sox: I liked their rotation but I didn't expect them to carry them off to such a great start.
Contenders/pretenders...
American League
Contenders: Twins, Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, Rangers
Pretenders: Orioles, White Sox, Blue Jays
National League
Contenders: Cardinals, Padres, Marlins, Braves
Pretenders: Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Cubs, Nationals, Mets, Phillies
Forecast for rest of the season...
Cardinals will run win the NL Central by atleast 15 games.
Astros and A's will lose 100 games.
White Sox will miss the playoffs.
Rodriguez will hit 50 home runs.
Assessment of your team...
DETROIT TIGERS
Good:
2004 Team ERA: 4.93 (26th in MLB)
2005 Team ERA: 3.92 (10th in MLB)
Bad:
2004 Runs Scored: 827 (12th in MLB)
2005 Runs Scored: 215 (24th in MLB)
Ugly:
Two high-priced additions in the offseason, Ordonez and Percival, are on the DL. They won't contend for the Central without them.
Outlook:
I'm hold firm to my pick of 83-79. Next year will be their breakthrough season...90+ wins.

Assessment of your team...
Phillies
Good:
Brett Myers
Chase Utley
Abreu
Bad:
Charlie Manuel's managing of the team.
Ed Wade's backing of perhaps the worst manager I have ever seen and his failure to trade Mike Lieberthal before his contract kicked in $7 million recently for plate appearances.
Ugly:
Charlie Manuel's handling of the platoon situations as well as the starting pitching.
Jim Thome- perhaps ole' Jim was on Roids after all..his back which was always an issue is suddenly getting worse..
Outlook:
80+ wins is possible but their recent win streak is nothing special.

Re: Your thoughts after two months?
MVP
AL: Rodriguez
NL: Pujols before Lee only because the Cubs will be nowhere near the playoffs.
Cy Young
AL: Garland
NL: Willis
Biggest surprise
Chicago White Sox. Doubt they'll get a sniff of Saturday baseball on Fox. Glad to see you can still catch a good team on WGN.
Contenders/pretenders...
American League
Contenders: Sox, Yanks, Rangers and Sox.
Pretenders: Orioles, Angels
National League
Contenders: Cardinals, Padres, Marlins, Braves
Pretenders: Diamondbacks, Dodgers
What the Fuck is Wrong with You: Mets, Phillies
Forecast for rest of the season...
Cardinals will run win the NL Central by at least 15 buhzillion games giving them the one spot in the NL playoff rotation. Cards will dispatch of the Braves (#4) but lose to the Marlins (#2).
Astros will lose September.
White Sox will lose in first round.
Rodriguez will carry Yanks.
Padres pitching will get them respect but the bats will die.
Assessment of your team...
St. Louis Cardinals:
Good:
Yaddy Yaddy Yaddy. Kid had a rough April but his bat has really picked up and his defense makes Matheny, one of the best defenders in the MLB, look like a tired old man. If the Cards pitchers could hold runners, he'd throw out 95% of runners including 20 pickoffs.
Grudz One million bucks for 62 hits and 14 doubles a third into the season. Oh yeah, his OBP is .387. Not fucking bad.
Matty Mo Big turnaround for a member of what my wife calls the Cutest Rotation in baseball. Velocity is back up, curve is biting and he learned how to pitch.
Bad:
Walker We replace the oft injured Drew with the equally injured Walker. Everyone is busting him down and in. Lots of Ks for a #2 hitter. LaRussa won't mess with the veteran's pride and move the better suiting Grudz to the 2.
Rolen. What the fuck is up with stupid 1B sitting in the basepaths? First Nevin catches a ball and puts both the runner and his head in jeopardy, but a week later Hee Sop does the exact same thing. Tony's probably instructed his players to clothesline the next defender who does the same thing. That being said, Rolen did nothing but pop the ball up to shallow center while he was playing.
Overexposed bench With Rolen sitting and Walker often sitting, Mabes Nunez and Taguchi are beyond "getting some work." Taguchi better learn how to turn on a major league fastball because after the league has seen him punch the outside pitch to thr right he ain't gonna see nothing but inside heat.
Ray King. Great year last year. Return to previous form thusfar.
Ugly:
The local announcers on the weekends suck ass. Damn vanilla whitebread crackers.
Outlook:
92-70 The dregs of the NL Central will continue to get their asses kicked.
Beat the Braves in 5. Lose to the Marlins in 5.

Just thought they'd be trailing the Yankees.
Balt. looks tough, Toronto too. At times.
I can't count the Yanks out. Too many weapons over there.
AL East: It's all I'm concerned about at this juncture.
Oh and Barry Bonds is a spoiled, racist, 'roid doping cheat!
Fuck you Barry!

MVP candidates (in no particular order)...
AL: Tejada, Teixeira (gotta go with Miggy, but those are the top 2)
NL: D. Lee (I love Pujols, but Lee is unanimous at this point)
Cy Young candidates (in no particular order)...
AL: Halladay, Rogers, Buehrle, Garland (gotta go with Garland)
NL: Peavy, Willis (um, gotta quarter to flip?)
Contenders/pretenders... (agree here)
American League

Pretenders: Orioles, White Sox, Blue Jays
National League (agree here, except for the Cubs...they aren't healthy enough)
Contenders: Cardinals, Padres, Marlins, Braves
Pretenders: Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Cubs, Nationals, Mets, Phillies

Rodriguez will hit 50 home runs. (Who gives a fat, fucking CubfanX cock)
Assessment of your team...
HOUSTON ASTROS
Good:
Huh?
Bad:
Can a brotha get an all of the above? Seriously, except for Clemens, Roy, Backe, and Lidge, it is ALL bad.
Ugly:
Ezequiel Astacio's grill
Outlook:
Clemens will be shipped to the Rangers. Names bandied about are Young, Soriano, Adrian Gonzalez, Diamond, and Danks. A run at Helton has been a rumor all year but will not materialize if we don't pull off a LONG winning streak. Bagwell may be done. Biggio is playing like he is ageless. Todd Self looks like a young Sean Casey or Mark Grace. Burke is finally back on the big team. Outlook? It can only get better as we are at the bottom of the barrel right now. Clemens for Diamond and Gonzalez would NOT suck.
Prediction:
Marlins over Rangers in 6
AL: Tejada, Teixeira (gotta go with Miggy, but those are the top 2)

How many more season does this guy have to dominate before he gets some love?
What is this....like the 8th year in a row that the guy has been one of the premiere players in the game, and when it comes time to talk about the current great players, his name never seems to come up.
Oh, and for my outlook -- #27
Right now, the AL MVP is probably ARod, although Roberts is sure doing a lot for his team.
In the NL, somebody will have to hit 100 bombs and score 300 runs before I can, in good conscience, give the nod to anyone besides Poohole. For however many years he chooses to play, he'll probably win that many MVP's(or he should). Too bad it looks like his ego is starting to catch up with his abilities.
Cy Young? There's just too much ball left to play for me to even speculate. Willis is sure looking god-like. And the day I say one good word about The Gambler, will be never.

Quietly the guy is having a tremendous year and if you look at just his stats he seems to be a top player in the league but over the years he has made a lot of bone-head, stat building mistakes like stealing 2nd with Thome at the plate against a right hander. Thome then gets intentially walked and they get to pitch to Burrell who in the past struck out ever time.Dinsdale wrote:Me and mine have been wondering for quite a few years now --jiminphilly wrote: Abreu

For a guy who hits for average he also strikes out too much. He is also not a clutch hitter late in the game and his strike outs seem to come with 2 out and runners in scoring position.
Fielding wise he has a cannon for an arm and he seems to rely in it when it comes to tracking down hard singles in the gap that a lot of aggressive runners will turn into doubles because he is so lazy to the ball. The guy also manages to get turned around in the outfield a lot on hard liners to the wall.
When he is on fire, he is impossible to get out but there are times when he makes such bonehead errors and me-first moves that it leaves Phillies fans perplexed about his sometimes.
Bottom line is he makes a lot of mental errors for a guy who really does have a world of talent.

My team stinks. Wilson Alverez, and Elmer Desense start. Thats all you need to now about our pitching staff. Jeff Kent is in an ugly slump. JD Drew is well playing like JD Drew. Milton Bradley is hurt, and noone is sure when hes coming back. Gagne looks human, and Jeff Weaver is jeckyl and hyde. If the dodgers finish above .500 I'll be surprised.

Nationals will make the playoffs.
Yankees will not make the playoffs
Barry Bonds will not be found with any illegal substance in his system (but everyone will know he is ROIDER).
Transfusions that he has been undergoing will leave him to weak to play in 2005 and 2006. He will come back in 2007 in a twisted version of
"The Natural?"
Assessment of your team...
RED SOX
Good:
Still in contention without Schilling and Pedro
Bad:
We need a Foulke and Renteria to return to their potential selves.
Ugly:
Mark Bellhorn leads the league in strikeouts AGAIN!!
Outlook:
2nd Consecutive World Series Victory.. This time over the Cardinals in 7.

Colorado Rockies
Good:
We still have Todd Helton (for now)
Bad:
mediocre pitching (and the owner doesn't know it), almost nothing for power hitting (and the owner doesn't know it), way too many rookies aquired and traded for in the offseason
Ugly:
Byong Yun Kim. I don't think I've seen more wild pitches since little league!
Outlook:
I predicted 50 wins, maybe 60, at the beginning of the season and I'm still holding to that. Rox just won their 4th road game of the season and if things stay the way they are, which they most likely will, we'll be lucky to hit 50.
