Major universities are multi-billion dollar organizations. They are governed by boards with diverse members with multiple skill sets. This includes business acumen as well as management skills, organizational development experts and human resource managers. All told a typical board of directors for a major university has a wealth of resources that it relies upon. The President of the university works with the board much like a private corporation would with proper governance. Each with roles and responsibilities, for the ultimate goal of the entity's mission.
