Yesterday perfectly summed up the idiocy of the Federal Government and the Dem overlords running it. That said I doubt if the GOP was in charge yesterday would have been any different.

The day begins in Mexico City (awesome city by the way.) I am working a contract with a company that had business in MEX. Dude took his wife and kids, nanny and the mother in law with him. Wheels up time was to be 10:00am for a trip to San Diego and Phoenix to drop these folks back in their cities. Somewhere around 8:45 as we are getting out of our transportation at the FBO the other pilot gets a call and after a 10 minute conversation with him saying very little he hangs up.

Turns out one of our pax has just tested positive for the Rona. She has no symptoms and is feeling fine. The person though is fully vaccinated and we have their card to prove it. Their hotel administered their test and if they do another one it will be about 30 hours before she has the results. So they are working on getting her a rapid test and the other pilot says “we can solve this, we just get more seat time.”

I follow him inside and he says she will just have to walk across the border, and then the lightbulb goes off for me. We get her to Tijuana or Juarez and she walks across the border and we then pick her up on the other side and continue the trip.

The other pilot calls them back and tells them to come on, as we have a plan. We already have everyone’s passports and vaccine cards in prep for our scheduled arrival into San Diego. We pull out the wife and Mother in Law’s stuff so we can hand it to them when they get onboard. Turns out it was the MIL who tested positive.

We leave about 30 minutes after our scheduled time as the family was a bit late and we had to change our filed flight plans. The new routing went Mexico City-Tijuana-San Diego-Brown Field-Phoenix. Brown field is a private aviation airport just north of the border with Mexico and run by the city of San Diego.

Wife and MIL deplane in Tijuana and the rest of us fly to San Diego. We clear customs and Immigration on the plane and then the nanny and the oldest kid get off the plane there in San Diego. We then fly down to Brown Field and wife and MIL are waiting for us. They hop on and we all fly to Phoenix.

The MIL and wife had no issues walking across the border in TJ. Never asked about Covid during the process. Just showed their passports and after no more than a glance they were waved in.

So how does any of this make sense? You can’t fly to the US without a negative Covid test, but you can walk into the US and not even be asked. So dumb.
