Weekend Roll Call 1-14-23
I think I saw some asshat mention earlier this week
that Molly Hatchett sucks. Piss off, moron.
It took about 20 days, but I have finally kicked
the covid/whatever crud. With some decent weather
on tap this weekend, I am planning to squeeze in some
quality grill work between honeydo's. Vaghub had the
cast removed Tuesday and is now in a walking boot,
albeit, at least 2 weeks away from being able to think
about even attempting any walking. Baby steps, literally.
Wildcard weekend is here. Some great games, with some
tough picks. I am going with:
Niners over Hawks
Jags over bolts
Bills over fish
Giants over Vikes
Gals over birds
Bucs over crackwagon
I am eagerly awaiting d-town's pics. We all know he will be
glued to his tv for every game.
Meme of the week-
Hey Kierland ... take the weekend off and don't hijack
this thread as you typically do, jerkoff.
Happy Weekend, Y'all.

IN. No care about the NFL. Getting some tickets for Twin's spring baseball here. Cool and crispy 46ºF right now outside according to my super accurate digital thermometer. Down to the 30's tonight----BRRR.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

You can keep on waiting for picks just like someone waiting for a train on an abandoned rail line.
I am proud to say I have not seen one second of any NFL game in several years. It has been a very nice burden lifted especially that Denver team I was a fan of for a long time. Fuck them. I gave away all of my fan gear. Only thing I kept is an authentic autographed picture of Shannon Sharpe I got as a gift about 20 years ago. I may sell that to a memorabilia store but probably won't do so well here in St. Louis.
I just don't understand the continued cult following it still has these days especially with their shitty watered down games that see more flags than a National Cemetery on Memorial Day weekend. Then there's the potential of several games rigged (I've been speculating rigged games for over 10 years now but especially under Roger Goodell).
But apparently there's some sort of requirement that people need to follow that league no matter what. And then there's the.....here it comes Dave.....the Stupid Bowl. Holy shit is there ever a more overhyped and under delivered event ever???
So you asswipes can go enjoy your tea parties while you watch the most overrated and pansy ass sports league ever.
It's a chillier day so I'll probably get a fire going (yes we have a real wood burning fireplace) and watch some movies or something.

Go piss up a rope you kid diddling, alt right dick sucking, safe space needing, flyover dipstick.
Do you people even have any actual friends?
Why is jerking off with internet trolls about mundane BS so important to you?
And why do you think it is even half way appropriate to request such panty waist behavior on a smack board?
Soft soft soft.

The NFL had much more character and flavor back in the 1970's and early '80s.d-town wrote:I just don't understand the continued cult following it still has these days
It was more "raw" and genuine.
I could easily rattle off a half-dozen things I wish were different about the NFL.
That said, for me, there is entertainment value in it.
The 3 Best Bets game here is great fun, and watching games here and there is a good diversion.
I truly lament what MLB has become.
And the NBA is a disaster.
The NFL is not great, but it could be worse.

The NFL has changed a lot over the last few decades and much of this has been overblown by, face it, "conservatives" who are angry that they can't see players get paralyzed on the field anymore. You get a lot of the same crying about the NHL.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:17 pmThe NFL had much more character and flavor back in the 1970's and early '80s.d-town wrote:I just don't understand the continued cult following it still has these days

I used to be a much bigger fan of college football before moving to the east coast, but since I've lived here, I've become a much bigger fan of the NFL than college, though I still enjoy college. Everyone's got their teams from all over the country and they are much more invested in it than in say Michigan where pretty much everyone's a loser LOLions fan.
The NFL is also one of the last true communal entertainment spectacles remaining in America. Everyone's got their own niche entertainment interests. Hell I watch a ton of Latin American soccer and I go to the interwebs to talk about this because none of my friends watch it. But most American guys enjoy sports and those who do watch the NFL, so you always have something to talk about with them.
The NFL may have changed a lot over the years but it's still amazing unscripted entertainment to watch.

MLB I think is getting there but not quite there yet. It too isn't as fun to watch especially with the umpiring (especially balls and strikes) and the rule changes.Softball Bat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:17 pmThe NFL had much more character and flavor back in the 1970's and early '80s.d-town wrote:I just don't understand the continued cult following it still has these days

The only league to still be genuine is the NHL. Hockey is the last real-mans sport and the league hasn't watered it down or made any significant rule changes. I do wish they would do away with icing and offsides calls or only call offsides if a player scores a goal immediately after going "offsides." Otherwise those calls are really only good for slowing down the game. Go Blues!

Some of us don’t speak Qtard, can you translate that.
Dtard: “real man’s sport”
That is some serious small dick energy right there.

I’ll be enjoying several of the weekend sporting events. Unlike some of you, I don’t wax nostalgic for plodding around in leather helmets and George Mikan layups.
