Worst officiated game I’ve ever seen. And not just because the Niners lost. 25 total penalties for 224 yards, including two on the Browns final drive that were at least questionable. One on 3rd and 10, extending the drive, that was complete bullshit. There was even a face mask on a punt return that should have been called on the kicking team that they called on the receiving team. They even got the jersey number correct. The ball was spotted and almost ready to start play before they realized they had it ass backwards.

Plus the network cut to the fucking Rams game with 1:44 left and the Niners about to start what should have been the game winning drive. At least I didn’t have to see the missed 40 yard FG with the clock running out.

How the fuck is this an illegal hit? This was third and ten on what turned out to be the Browns’ game winning drive. Replay clearly showed nothing but shoulder to shoulder contact.

I think you've been watching too much soccer.

The DB didn't "smoke him with everything he had."

He actually took it very easy on the receiver.

The only reason it looked as bad as it did, and it didn't even look bad to me, was because the receiver had both feet off the ground when contact was made.

If the receiver had even one foot on the ground, the hit would have looked like a big nothing, which it really was anyway.

What makes a good postscript to this egregious hit is the Browns smoked the 49ers like Dave at a Kansas City cookout. Their regular season streak is ended and we can watch them wipe their tears on their Brock Purdy shirtsleeves. You can put off your call to Sherlock Holmes for help in solving 'the case of the mysterious penalty flag'.
