CFB Pickem - End of Regular Season
Thanks to Lefty for all of the "must-pick" selections. Well done, sir.
Chip C is the regular season champ. Ordinarily, we would have a Bowl Championship round to determine to whom I should ship a football. Chip C has a few already (He donated a set to a Pee Wee football program in my former home town a few years ago, by the way). I'm not sure if CBS will have a bowl selection page. If so, I'll lob it up here.

Weekly Winners:
Week 1 - 88BuckeyeGrad
Week 2 - Screw Michigan
Week 3 - Rick Aroo
Week 4 - Stanley Pickle (see Note below)
Week 5 - Mike D. (see Note below)
Week 6 - Screw Michigan (see Note below)
Week 7 - Chip C
Week 8 - OUMO
Week 9 - Roach
Week 10 - Cornhusker
Week 11 - 88BuckeyeGrad
Week 12 - Frank Beamer's Growth
Week 13 - Frank Beamer's Growth
Week 14 - Rick Aroo
Week 4 Note: Stanley Pickle did not pick the must-pick game in Week 4, which was Ohio State vs. Notre Dame. But neither did Rick Aroo, who came in second by one game. So, even if I took one of Stanley Pickle's wins away for a major rules infraction, he still would have won.
Week 5 Note: Rick Aroo had 8 correct picks, but did not pick the must-pick game in Week 5, which was Notre Dame @ Duke. Thus, for determining the week's winner I had to take one win away from him. That left him tied with several others who had 7 correct picks. Mike D. had the closest score, and is thus the Week 5 winner.
Week 6 Note: MuchoBulls would have won the week, but he did not pick the must-pick game. Thus, for determining the week's winner I had to take one win away from him. That left Screwy as Week 5 winner.

Re: CFB Pickem - Week 3
Screwy found something he's good at.
At least most the teams I picked wrong that were big favorites ended up losing the game. WTF was up with Okie St?

It wouldn't be the real Stanley Pickle if for not fucking up the one basic requirement of this silly game for the last 20 years.

Totally blew that one.
I am assuming that the must pick game is the game where we are using the total points for?

Why is it so hard for you mouthbreathers to do the pick 'em right? The players, not the administrator.

Sucks that the site puts the game everyone has to pick at the bottom.

Re: CFB Pickem - Week 7 (The first post in this thread updates each week)
Yeah, took me a week to figure that out....
After the stunning success of last week (3 wins) I took less than a minute to make my picks this week.
One more dismal showing and I'll do some research prior to making pics.

I go 9-1, and Chip C gets me with a better tie-breaker guess. Rack that dude, whoever he may be.

Nailed the Fl St- Duke total, but another 5-5 week.
Consistently inconsistent is how I’ve described Alabama’s team this year. I’m consistently meh with my picks, but I’m right there.
5th place out of 17 pickers is just fine to this point. I’m coming after you, Screwy, 88, Chip, and OU!

What's the tennis analogy of going 5-5?
Re: CFB Pickem - Week 8 (The first post in this thread updates each week)
Good call, Screwy. I’d say it’s like being John Isner. Killer serve. Shit return. Might spend a whole week playing one match. Might as well retire. Something like that.
Although look at this week, got a break and went 6-4.

This is my week. The drive to the top starts Saturday.
Let me break out of my 5/week pattern and get 7-8 right! All I need is one big week.

5 again !
Consistency is paying off, though. 3rd place now.
Heads up, Screwy and OUMO. You, too, 88. I’m taking this thing!
Kiss of death. I’ll never pick another game right.

I’d trade my surge for 2 more Bama wins and losses by Washington, Texas, and Florida State.

Re: CFB Pickem - Week 12 (The first post in this thread updates each week)
I am a MAC grad so I know the league better than most. You get better odds in the non-conference season. Things get a bit more difficult to predict in the conference season as teams are familiar with each other and there are more upsets. Yes of course that applies to all schools and leagues but moreso in the MAC IMO. Having these MAC games mid week also takes them off my radar for betting purposes, which doesn't help.Sudden Sam wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 6:01 pm I am scared to death of MAC games.

Chip C is Jsc, right? Regardless, congrats!
I never had less than 4 or more than 6 correct picks in a week. Consistency got me a tie for 2nd with Roach and OUMO.
What did I win? A week of UFC training? A meet and greet with Connor Stalions? A plate of Chip’s boudin?
