fucking baby boomers and breakfast tacos

Post by King Crimson »

i went to the local mexican joint to get some breakfast tacos and a couple green chile, bean, cheese and chicharrones burritos for lunch....and i'm waiting for the bus back to the crib and i'm looking at the the posters on the poster wall space for summer shows in Denver:

Pat Benatar/Neil Geraldo
Steve Miller Band (you guess the set list--huh?)
Mark Knopfler
Motley Crue
and some one else i can't remember but equally over 50 and lame.

and, of course, since it's Colorado--Blues Traveler (gag)

Steve Miller set list

Guessing he starts with a slow build up of synth music to

Jetair Liner
Rockin' Me Baby
Take the Money and Run
The Joker
Abracadabra (for good measure)

that's about it. sort of like seeing Jimmy Buffet (who plays at RR all the time). maybe a blues standard like Red Rooster thrown in so he's "legit".

one the most hilarious things i've ever read is a couple page screed in the Miles Davis autobiography about him opening for Steve Miller at the Fillmore once. i recall the phrase "no talent asscat" was used more than once.

Steve Miller learned to play from family friend Les Paul(as did his buddy Boz Scaggs). Pretty much gives him fat cred regardless.

silk degrees is fairly cool for what it is. and Miller used to rock my world when Jet Airliner used play when i was on the tilt-a-whirl when the carnival came to town when i was in junior high and trying to touch some tit. but Miles Davis has more cred.

a lot more. like astronomical more.

Can we make an exception for the song "The Hook"? I always play it on the jukebox at my favorite bar on Friday nights.

I hate shitty jukeboxes. Use to issue Nick's Pub and play Sam Cooke while I played pool. Someone would come up right after me and drop in some Spin Doctors, Cranberries and other mid 90's alternacrap. Jukebox interspersed it with my Sam Cooke.

Not.
Down.
