Weekend Roll Call 10-12-24

Post by kcdave »

No tune this morning. Posting from my phone, and I am not seeing the bb link. If you really need a song.. hum something to yourself.

Posting from my phone... as we are in Branson this weekend for Vaghubs bday. This is my first time here, and it's pretty much what I expected, and the reason why I have never come before. If you like shitty music, horrible shows, large concentrations of necks , thumpers, and maga tards, then this is the place for you. Fortunately, we are only here for the weekend, and there are a few activities to distract us from the other bullshit.

On the trip down we stopped at the world famous Buccee's. I had a very strong feeling that this place would not live up to the hype, and of course it did NOT. If you take away all of the Buccee's logo'd merchandise that they are pimping it's really no better than your average truck stop.

Next up... Steal Your Dollars City. Not worth the nearly $100 admission they try to charge, nor the $60 deal military discount deal that Vaghub found either. Kind of cool none the less. 6 world class roller coasters if those are your thing. We rode 5, 1 was closed. 4 scared the shit out of me. I realized that I simply do not enjoy thrill rides as much as my younger days.

Fuck me, no pics yet. My apologies. I suck.
I do have a few though...
Thankfully, we are staying at a nice, lake side condo. Great views...

...and a really nice pool.

Crazy weather is hot as balls for mid October...91 yesterday, 94 today. Beers and margs were enjoyed pool side yesterday and will be again later today.

Running out of time here this morning.

Fucking Royals... too early to talk about the disappointment.

Chiefs bye week. 120 days to 3pete.

3 weeks until election day.

Happy weekend, y'all.

IN---up early, restless night, NCAA football for diversion. Hoping for tunes tonight. Enjoy.

Really happy to see Wolfman checking in. You dodged a big bullet, my friend.

Dave, you were looking at the Buckees tshirts and you should have been looking at the food. You need to try their brisket sandwich. No doubt yours is better, but theirs is solid.

Just made my CFB guesses picks, it is nice to have won a week early so my ticket to the postseason is punched already.

Yesterday I closed on my old house (810). Lots of memories there, but we've downsized and I'm glad that we did. Hope they enjoy the house as much as we did.

We have our oldest daughter in town now, she just left for LSU tailgating and then the game tonight. Good times.

Wow, as I'm typing this, a horse training update came in, check this out:

Image

Out of 93 horses doing the workout, Reputation was the fastest! Hell yeah! :dance1:

Hopefully I'll get to watch some CFB today, but it wouldn't be surprising if my wife has some to-dos for me. Happy wife, happy life. Y'all have a good one.

Just checking in because Dave emailed me. Clearly I have missed nothing about this place.

Dave is practically the only one who whines about Branson. I love the place. My family loves it. We visit at least twice a year and try to rent a boat and spend a day on the lake. Best lake in MO, IMO. Although I do want to take my wife and leave the kids behind and go to Lake of the Ozarks and "accidentally" stumble across Party Cove where it's basically anything goes including female 20 something bikinis or lack thereof ;)

Silver Dollar City isn't that bad IF you look for the deals AHEAD of time. Just like everything else, yes, you will pay an insane price at the walk-up ticket booths. We have never spent more than $60/person anytime we have been there because we look for online deals in advance. I'll ride any rollercoaster there except for Time Traveler. I just cannot do anything that spins. My oldest son loved it though.

From what you describe, Branson and SDC is the PERFECT place to be!

out.

Happy weekend, clones. We made the roadie to Laradise, Wyo for some warm autumn Cowboys football. 64° and sunny at 7220'. Gotta take advantage of these warm day games while we can.

Looking forward to Tune Town on my drive home.

Watchin’ Alabama look extremely mediocre.

Herbstreit politely crushed the Tide on Gameday. Talking about the lack of discipline, the taunting and trash-talking. Not Alabama football. Saban had a good line about the lax discipline, but I can’t recall it. He’s in an awkward position to say anything.

Since the first half against Georgia, we suck balls.

Detroit Tigers take a 1-0 lead in the 5th. Go Tigers!

That does look a lot like my pool. Mrs. Mikey wants to put one of those metal handrails in to make climbing out easier, but I don't think it would be all that simple of a retrofit at this point.

Sunny and about 82 F here today. I'll unfortunately have to miss Tune Town tonight because we're driving up to Irvine for a show by the SF Jazz Collective. I might try and tune in from the from the road on the way up there.

Do it. No brainer there. You will be glad that you did, just a matter of time, I promise.

Cleveland Indians fan since childhood. Dad was from the area. Rocky Colavito, Luis Tiant, Max Alvis, Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Sudden Sam McDowell (duh!), Sonny Siebert, Sandy Alomar…loved them. Cleveland Guardians? Fuck ‘em. Still like to see them win it all, but it’s about #150 on my list of concerns.

Lake of the Ozarks has always been much more my kind of place. Lots of bars, fast boats, nekkid women. This Branson place is much more family oriented, not to mention all the thumpers and bassackwards hillbilly themed bullshit. Not my taste. I don't have a bad word to say at all about Table Rock Lake. It is beautiful here, as is the entire area. Top of the Rock is a really cool place to visit, and you have to love any place that actually encourages you to drink and drive. Albeit, if it's only a golf cart. The resort we are staying in, with it's Mikey looking pool, has 2 others, hot tubs, and a whole slew of free amenities, and much cheaper boat rental prices than I am used to seeing. There is a pretty good chance that we will return here next year. They are teasing us with a 2 bed condo, lake view, for 4 nights, for $299. I still don't give a shit for Branson, but would like to see more of the area, and would have the time to venture down to Eureka Springs and such.

Chip... I have heard about Buccees brisket. I even saw a guy cutting it, yelling some stupid shit, and the rest of the crew repeating it back to him.... appeared to be some lame thing they routinely do. We were there in the morning, after breakfast, and eating bbq was the last thing on my mind. It was in no way impressive though. Likely akin to you seeing someone making Cajun food. Hohum.

Good point. But still, every time I'm at a Buccees, I'm eating, no matter what time it is. They've got decent fudge as well.

I just got back from Austin, and I agree with you about Bucees. Way too much for a travel stop. No need for 100 or more gas pumps and shitters. And you can’t swing a dead cat without coming upon them in TX.

It’s a touristy deal. I think Love’s is the right size and solid.

Agreed. Much of it filmed 2 mile from my house.

If your house is in Georgia this is correct.
There were on a few scenic shots shown during season 1
that were actually even shot at the lake.
All other scenes were shot in Georgia.

Thought I smelled something funky wafting over from SW this weekend. Too bad I didn't catch this earlier. I was just a hop skip and a jump south of you the whole time.
