Fukkin' Grim Reaper had to work for this one. But he always wins in the end.
RIP Mr President.
I believe he was a great human being. Not a very good President, IMO, but the best ex-prez of my lifetime.
Kept his fukking nose out of politics and did a lot of good with Habitat for Humanity. His fellow democrat ex-prezes could learn a thing or two from him.

You're probably right.

I was near Plains on my motorcycle riding home from Tampa. Decided to head “downtown “ on the chance I might see the man in a diner or at the feed store. No such luck. Ended up buying a Love and Rockets used CD. Still haven’t heard it.
Great human being. Just in over his head in DC.

I was never a fan. And neither was most of the country that had to try to survive under his incompetent and thankfully short-lived presidency. And I bet if you took a poll in the parts of the world that his inept foreign policy set on fire, he wouldn't fair too well there either.
But he lived a long time. I don't think he used the office to enrich his family ('sup Biden), and I don't think he used executive branch agencies to attack his adversaries ('sup Obama), and I don't think he used his office to keep his dick wet ('sup Clinton). So on the whole, he was probably the best Demotard in my lifetime. And you have to give him credit for giving us Ronald Reagan's two terms.

13-17. Didn’t get to vote against him. Had to wait for Mondale-Ferraro.
That shithead’s name is on my Eagle card.
I bet if you put his almost corpse in a 2024 primary against Biden’s, Carter would have won.

Carter hung on long enough so he could see Biden surpass him as the worst president.
Even though Biden’s term is not technically over, he’s been radio silent for months now anyway.

Flags will be flown at half staff for a period of 30 days at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels throughout the country and its territories.
That will be until January 28. A fitting parting gift from Carter to Trump to have the flag at half staff during his inauguration and for the following week.

Flags are being half staffed for everygoddamthing these days. We had a state trooper killed on the other side of the state and it took me ten minutes of internet searching to figure out why flags were halfway down for a week. We half staffed when John McCain died. Fukken why? He wasn't my Senator. And now a former president gets a whole month? What if Liz Cheney dies during that month? Does she get a week at half staff AFTER the Carter month? How far out are we willing to stack these meaningless gestures? Just fly the thing halfassed permanently and come up with new reasons as needed.mvscal wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:02 pmNobody cares or will even notice.Mikey wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 7:52 pm Flags will be flown at half staff for a period of 30 days at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels throughout the country and its territories.

Re the flag code…
As HPG said, the flag is flown at half staff every time some pissant “public servant” croaks. It’s at the discretion of governors as well as the prez and they drop the damn thing way too often.

Re: Jimmy Cardirt
The flag should stay at half mass until they’re officially done carving Jimmy’s headpiece into Mount Rushmore (with a neighboring space for Joe when he steps down in January).
Jimmy Carter exemplifies what happens when empathy and compassion are legislated into the veins of society. Under his watch (just like Joe’s), energy and grocery prices were at all-time lows (which really helped the poor and middle class), there were zero escalations in Afghanistan and above all, there were fewer racists and white supremacists doing racist and white supremacist things.
Jimmy was a really nice man and a really nice president. Greedy white capitalists either shook in their boots at his speeches or were otherwise transformed into humble, caring citizens by his empathetic policies.
And just like Joe is about to be, Jimmy was unfairly replaced by a greedy, racist, white supremacist Nazi Socialist who loved trickle down and tax cuts for the rich, which reversed all the beautiful things Jimmy did for our country, especially for the poor and middle classes, economically speaking.
Jimmy will now be interred at his final habitat. If I were in a voting booth on 31st St (in the 14th district of NY) I would still vote for Jimmy for a second term (with a write-in on a post-it note for Joe).

My "flag" will be flying at full staff on New Year's Eve. Alabama seems to lower the flag every time someone farts.
Maybe we should lower it every time a criminal is killed whilst committing criminal acts.

Alabama has Republican majorities in the House and Senate, the Congressional delegation, both U.S. Senators, Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Attorney General, and many more.
And you're blaming liberals when Alabama lowers the flag?
