Thanks, "Todd," we'll all run out and do that.

Especially those of us who have Sirius and aren't able to listen to the Yankees lose on a nightly basis, every other night.

BODE you, though. Hell, on regular radio here, I can't even find a Royals nor Rangers game on AM, if my life depended on it, not to mention ESPN Radio. They never ever put baseball games on, and it makes me so pissed off, I could just KILL a no-good COP.

Silly me, I have Sirius. I picked the NFL, NBA, college football and the NCAA tournament over the glory of meaningless baseball games that I can't get off my AM dial in summer.

What the hell was I thinking?

Thanks for sharing, shit troll.

Btw, you can do a lot better, in the MLB forum, IF the Yanks make the playoffs.

And for that, you would not only be able to catch the broadcast of this concert, but still hear the 2nd half of the MLB season and all post season games....including the irritating Cleveland Indians announcers, as if anyone would want to unless they had no other option for hearing a game.

I'm sure Sirius ain't bad. I'm not going to knock it. Any satellite radio is better than an FM broadcast for both sound and quality. I also like the potential deal of a lifetime subscription with Sirius. The benefit of having it for the rest of ones life far outweighs the risk of losing $500 bucks.

And getting back to baseball....since this is the music forum, let's keep the focus on music, mmmkay? Besides, the best news regarding the Yankees lately is that they cut Stanton and Quantrell.
Who the hell is dumbass enough to purchase cable radio for music?

One question before I purchased my setup; what are the sports packages? Question answered - Sirius installed.

Just about all of the channels in the 20's are good, even Hair Nation has its moments.

Yeah, MLB vs. NFL, NBA and college football and the NCAA tourney.

Obvious winner, indeed, especially when you're on the road. Just like Clear Channel is the obvious winner when it comes to broadcast radio.

Fucking tard.

Nascar on the radio is HUGE! Many necks listen to the radio broadcast while watching it. It's the preferred method, I'm told.

Had to drive to the BG game last year. A rarity for me cause it is such a long haul but I was taking friend to the game for his Bday. Die hard OU fan and had never been to a game, decided it was time he took one in live and in person. Instead of my wife and we just made it s group trip with his GF coming along as well. Couldn't foot the bill on 4 plane tix when we could just take turns behind the wheel.

Turned out to blast with Sirius. We about had the women folk ready to jump out of the windows with me cussing out A&M and my friend going nuts for Utah. Bastage didn't care about the SOS angle he father is a Utah man :?.

Is it possible to be a has been AND have at least 8 million loyal daily listeners? I was waiting for someone to come up with that stupid argument. That's like saying Rush Limbaugh and Dr. Laura washed up. To non-listeners, probably.

I tried listening to Opie and Anthony once. I thought I was going to have to shove a fork into my ears to stop the pain...

A lot of "has beens" sign $500 million contracts.

Saying that Opie and Anthony are funnier than Stern is like saying that Whitesnake is better than Led Zeppelin. The original is always better than the pretender.

Toddowen wrote:I'm not going to subscribe to Sirius just to listen to Howard Stern.

I liked to listen to Stern about ten years ago when I had the time to listen and was more of a morning person. The show was much more fresh then.

Just a hunch....the majority of those eight million listeners won't be paying to hear his outdated and repetitous show. And what does he care if he goes from an alleged eight million listeners to only two to four million listeners by the time he's nestled into Sirius. His paycheck is still going to be the same.
So you admit that you used to listen to the show. Do you listen now? I've been listening every day for the last year after I found a source on the internet to find the show. Yes, some days are a bit repetitive and the segments with the chicks are mostly misses, but there are days when he's on that I laugh a lot. I think it'll be interesting to hear him uncensored. I hope it doesn't become all porn all day long. He swears it won't. We'll have to see...

And yes, I'll be subscribing just to listen to him...

How else was Sirius supposed to get him? Offer him free lunches in the cafeteria? If Sirius is dumb enough to shell out that much jack thats on them.

Stern was once great, but now all he does is drone on about how he has been ripped off,how he is a martyr for free speech etc.. He sounds like fucing Mickey Rooney with all the whining he does about how great he once was.

I need to ask about this. What do you mean by "outdated"? Do you mean that he talks about old bands? I could buy that. That he's overinfatuated with the always boring Pamela Anderson? Sure.

Maybe it's that god-awful Leave it to Beaver parody I heard? Oh wait... That was Opie and Anthony...

Yes, some of Stern's show can be repititous, but if I had four and 1/2 hours to fill everyday, I would probably sound repitious, too.

Whos they?I dont listen to him. None of my friends listen to him. Sterns ratings have steadily declined over the years. If I'm not mistaken hes not even number one in New York anymore. But I guess I'm just hip enough to listen to 4 hours of him rehasing old jokes interviewing B list celebs, and farting into the microphone while that buffoon Robin laughs at it.

Just agree that you don't listen to him and millions do. He wouldn't have been offered millions of dollars if it wasn't thought that he'd bring subscribers with him.

While I would love to sum up what I hear when I listen to the show, why don't you actually listen to the show?

As for rehashing, that was the reason I stopped listening to Jim Rome. He's still rehashing the same jokes that stopped being funny years ago. I can say this much for Stern, he drives a joke into the ground, like when he played the Pat O'Brien phone calls over and over, but that last just a few weeks and they've stopped playing them.

Mainly, I listen because he talks about current pop culture events like movies, tv shows, rumors, etc. You obviously hear something different when you listen.

Cant agree with you more about Rome. He still thinks the whole Red Lobster thing is funny. It was mildly amusing the first time, but not the 131st time.

My beef with Stern is mostly he keeps Artie Lang around who I dont find the least bit funny. Talk about the same stale jokes. Granted Jackie was a bitter nutcase but he did have some funny contributions. Also you gotta admit him whining about how he gets ripped off all the time gets old. He sounds like a cranky old man. If he returns to being funny on Sirius good for him. I just feel his best stuff is long behind him.

Yes, I agree that it gets really old that he complains that people steal from him, but it's not that much of the show, so I tune it out.

Artie used to annoy me, but he's grown on me with dead on impressions of such weirdos like Jeff the Vomit Guy, that right wing kook Debbie Schlussel, their lie detector guy Ed Torien and others.

There have been slow weeks sure enough, but some weeks lately he's been on fire. It must depend on his mood. It'll be interesting if moving to Sirius will rekindle the spark he used to have.

Some new additions to the staff have really spiced things up and I'll be excited to hear the show on Sirius.

By the way, was it you that mentioned that Stern's rating were down? (It's late and I'm not going back to look) I did some research and it's true, he's not No. 1 in New York anymore. He got beat out by some Spanish channel show that you've never heard of! No lie. He mentioned them a few times when he was complaining about the FCC fines. Apparently, these guys get away with murder because no one complains because the whole show is in Spanish.

I'd suspect that Howard's ratings were down this year because they went up to high levels during the heightened publicity after the Janet Jackson incident, the FCC crackdown and Clear Channel dropping his show.

Sorry this is so long. I can see why some people may tire of him. Even I get bored when he spends way too long talking to boring chicks or doing the disgusting stunts, but I come back for reasons I mentioned before. I used to really not like him, but I became hooked when I moved to San Fran area and was commuting everyday. I'm just glad that I'll finally be able to get in a car here and be able to tune in his show.
