Considering how liberals love to blackball conservatives, can you blame the guy for wanting to keep his membership a secret?

You mean like when Dukakis got tarred for his membership in the ACLU?

You may now pull your foot out of your ass.

A Dukakis reference??

Pushing aside the fact that you're equating the scrutiny of a Presidential candidate with a Supreme Court nominee for a moment...

Dukakis was shishkebabed by that photo of him in a tank and the negative ads that showed his "revolving door" prison release program. Whoever ran Bush's advertising team should have a lifetime seat on the Carlisle Group's board of directors.

I'm not saying that Republicans don't blackball, but Liberal Democrats (especially those in groups) play that game at an entirely different level(See: Hollywood).

But don't take my smartassiness to mean that I don't think that this doesn't deserve some scrutiny. It does.

Why should I not be equating the two? Have you no familiarity with the concept of Federalism? The branches of government are supposed to act as equals.

Its the same game played by people with different social connections. That's all.

Fair enough. I don't know Roberts from a hole in the wall. Before he's let loose on the Law of the Land, I would like to know more than what the Administration is telling us.

Don't know him either, but I think it's up to Roberts to explain himself, not up to the BA to explain for him.

Agreed. Right now all I know of Roberts is that he felt it necessary to lie about his membership in this group and that he can't dress his children.

It's none of your business. Is this all you've got?

What a pathetic dipshit you are.
If that is his response, I don't want my Senators voting for him.

B:
The branches of government are supposed to act as equals.

Tell that to your liberal pals who applaud the judicial branch's current supremacy.

And, B, the answer to your question (if in fact he did lie) is in the story you linked us to.

Democrats are suspicious of membership in the federalist society.

That would give many pause to opennly announce their membership considering what mere suspicions has led Democrats to do lately to presidential nominees.

BTW - I don't think he lied. The story certainly doesn't make the case.

And the fact that WaPo runs that kind of stuff is telling already that they are ready carry the Dems water on baseless, immaterial attacks on Roberts.

Let me know when you can make up your mind whether someone "not remembering" if they were in a leadership position in a group of conservative activists constitutes lying.

Yeah and to think you were just about to fire off an email to your Senators endorsing Roberts before this "story" broke, right?

As I said...pathetic dipshit.
Nope, I wouldn't have sent one supporting him. But I'd damn sure send one NOT supporting him if he ever took the tone you took with me.

As though you don't receive your talking points from NARAL, PFAW, etc. Don't play that game.

In any case, the article doesn't demonstrate that Roberts lied.

Next?

No I don't. Just because you have to read the Limbaugh Letter to construct a "take" doesn't mean the rest of us can't think for ourselves.
In any case, the article doesn't demonstrate that Roberts lied.
It did to anybody with a lick of common sense.

No I don't. Yes you do. No I don't... ...

About what I expect from you.

And what you refer to as commonsense is about what TVO considers scientific fact.

Detard,

Either Roberts had his memory erased by Will Smith or he's lying. Which one do you think is the common sense choice?

BSmack, you do realize that Ann Coulter opposes Roberts, doncha? How bad can the guy be?

Well, I don't know. That's what we're trying to figure out.

Just because Coulter opposes someone is not a reason to favor them. It's a good start for Roberts, but I want to see more.

They certainly are trying. I actually saw a "get Roberts approved for the SC" commercial on TV last week. Paid for by friends of the GOP.
