I haven't bothered to read the whole myopic, er, fairly balanced thread, but I have one question for Texas fans. How is your offense going to move the ball against a top 10 team not named Michigan?

We all know UofM couldn't stop a pee-wee squad if they lined up in a 4 or 5 wide set and their QB looked like he could run, but now you're talking about a team with a quality defense and speed at the LB position and they will be ready to contain Young.

Honestly, how is Texas going to score?

After Tennessee's brilliant performance against UAB...my Wolverines are now number 3 in the country. If Texas losses Michigan will be number 2, which would put the season in their hands...no Auburn worries.

Plus, it would rate OSU higher, and make The Game more important.

Plus, I love seeing the Big 12 toil.

Thus...being the flip-flopper I am.

Vito, come again regarding the last time Texas won a title of any kind? Usually Oklahoma has had something to do with that. Beating Nebraska means nothing when you have your annual ass-raping to look forward to from the Sooners.

ps RACK 88 and thanks for the sig

Yes, on paper, Texas looks like a worthy opponent for Ohio State. I'll grant you that. They might be a superior team on paper.

But games aren't played on paper. They are played on grass, in stadiums filled to capacity with fire-water drinking savages. And much fire-water will flow on Saturday. And the savages will be restless.

I've been to every night game ever played at Ohio Stadium. It is surreal. The sun descends and the night cools quickly. Eerie shadows are cast on the crowd from the auxillary lighting surrounding the stadium. It is definitely on, fuckers, and everyone knows it.

The game seems bigger. More important. The hitting is ferocious. The cheers thunderous. Each touchdown more magnificent than the one before. Complete madness. The Buckeyes will feed off the energy. It will inspire them to do things they did not know they could do. And it will cause the Longwhorns to drop the ball, and miss catches, and do things they never thought they'd do. Its called Buckeye kharma, bitch. And its wrapped in a giant scarlet and gray linebacker released from hell.

Texas fan has never experienced the vortex of hate that will grip them, and hurl them into the depths of hell like they will feel on Saturday night. This ain't no BigXII pajama party, Nancy. This is the BigTen. And this one is going to be especially nasty, up close and personal.

But we're a civilized. I personally promise to leave a $20 on your mother's pillow when I'm finished. But you are probably going to want to get those curtains replaced, if you know what I mean.

Went to Ohio's stadium once, my freshman year, it was dark, rained like crazy and they called the game early cause of lightning. Wasnt a bad game.

Like I said these assholes spout off shit like this and the rest of the sports lemmings eat it up.

BTW I have yet to take any of this serious, this is just a fun way to pass the time til game day.
That has to be one of the dumbest fucking statements ever to come out of an ESPN "analyst's" mouth, and that's saying a lot. They fucking beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl and that's all ESPN talked about when they brought up Texas. They even had clips of Young saying "Rose Bowl's over!"

Mark May and Lee Corso are still saying that ND could be 1-5 after their first 6 games. Not when they have to play Washington, they won't.

SC has several songs that they play, I think the one youre talking about is called Tribute to Troy and is played when the other team has the ball.

That game in 90 was a great game, the one the year before was better and wasnt stopped early because of lightning though.

I take it you are refering to our shitty performance against OU. Since the OU game Texas's young receiving corp has grown up a lot, and our best receiver is no longer injured. Add that up and Texas has a very good chance of having a passing game to take the pressure off our running game.

As for our OC Greg Davis he is still a complete pussy and the real answer to the 1million dolar question, which of these pieces doesn't belong. But we have a QB that can make things happen even with Davis's shitty play calling.

I am honored to say that I will be a part of the 105,000 "savages" on Saturday night in Columbus. Every motherfucker living between the Chesapeake Bay and Ohio Stadium will hear the OSU fight song blaring from my humble Ford Taurus tomorrow. I hired a fucking contractor to build a contraption in my car.... just to make sure I can safely fly my gigantic Ohio State flag through my moonroof. He's working on it as I type.

I've got to give credit to both Ohio State and Texas for having the nutsack to schedule a home and home like this. I don't have to tell any of you how great this is for college football. The buzz surrounding this game would normally indicate a major bowl game or a conference-deciding rivalry game.

The bottom line is this -- if Texas is able to come into Columbus and win a night game against a very talented Ohio State squad.... my hat is off to them. No excuses. No whining. My hat will be off to them. I think it would pretty much lock up a trip back to Pasadena for a shot at USC, and I would look forward to that game very much.

In all honesty, I think this '05 Texas team might be the most talented team any Ohio Sate squad has faced in my lifetime. Off the top of my head, the '97 Seminoles and the '02 'Canes are the only teams on the same level talent-wise as these '05 Horns. The '94 Penn State team was pretty stacked, but I'm not sure they were quite on this level.

The good news for us is that Ohio State has some talent as well. It's going to be very interesting to see how the QB situation pans out. Zwick will undoubtedly start, but how long before Troy Smith gets a chance to do his thing? Can he live up to his performance against UM almost 9 months ago?

I also can't help but wonder how Tressel and Bollman will account for one of the best defensive lines in recent memory. The dinks and dumps we saw Ohio State utilize last week against Miami (OH) could be a sign of things to come. Burning Texas's db's deep AND having time to throw the ball isn't likely - certainly not on a consistent basis. I can only assume we'll see some of the same screen patters that Michigan so effectively used against us back in the 90s to take advantage of our superior speed and tendency to overpursue... a gridiron jujitzu, if you will. I think we'll see everybody involved -- Pittman, Ginn, Holmes, Gonzalez, Maurice Wells, etc. The YAC will determine how successful Ohio State is in terms of putting points on the board.

The defense will truly have a 12th man on the field, and with as many weapons as Texas has, they'll need it. When the crowd's in the game, VY's horsemen won't be able to hear themselves think -- let alone the snap count. I'm not saying the Texas offense can't meet the challenge, but I am saying that it will be unlike anything they've ever experienced. I'm sure the Red River Shootout is intense and all, but 1/2 of 70,000 is a lot different than 105,000 strong. It's going to be about as intense of an atmosphere for a sporting event as humanly possible. I absolutely cannot wait.

Go Bucks!

Young still hasn't proven if he can actually pass the ball on a consistant basis. Against OSU, Texas is going to need to pass and pass well. If they play a defense that is even close to what OU played last year and they force Young to beat them with his arm, OSU's chances of winning go up dramatically.

27-24 Buckeyes.

Late interception by Donte Whitner puts the nail in the coffin.

Kinda weird but in 2k1 Texas beat 14th ranked Colorado 41-14, but then lost to them in the B-12 title game when they were ranked 9th. In 99 Texas beat Nebraska when they were ranked 2nd or 3rd but then lost to them in the Big 12 title game when they were again around 2nd or 3rd. The biggest factor in all this is that Texas has lost 5 times to OU which is the #1 reason for the bad record.
