The 2005 Drunken Trolls - Rate this FFL Team

Post by KC Scott »

This is a 10 team league

Start:
2 QB
3 RB
4 WR (No TE - but you can draft as a WR)
1 K
1 Def

Points

.1 per yard rush or receive - 6 pt. TD (no penalty for fumbles)
.2 per 5 yds. passing - 4 Pt TD (no penalty for Ints)
1 pt. per reception (new this year)
5 pt Bonus 100 yd. rushing or receiving - 300 yd. Passing
Double score for plays 50+ yards ( Ex: 52 yd. TD reception = 12 pts)
Def/ST - 1 pt per sack, 2 pts Int or FR, 6 Pt TD

Huge run on RBs from the start - I tried to stay with my "Pick the Best Value" philosophy

I picked in the 7 spot -

Name / Round
QB
Aaron Brooks - 7
Byron Leftwich - 8
Billy Volek - 15
Tim Rattay - 17

RB
Edgerrin - 1
Duece - 2
JJ Arrington - 6
Tatum Bell - 9
Mewlede Moore - 10
Willie Parker - 12

WR
Holt -3
Javon Walker -5
Steve Smith - 4
Rod Smith - 9
Charles Rogers - 11
Tyrone Callico - 13
Travis Taylor - 19

K
Matt Stover - 18

D
Philly - 14

Since QB's were devalued even further with the 1 pt. receptions (nothing extra for completions) I tried to look for value late instead of spending a 1-5 round pick.

Overall, I'm real happy with this team - I've got some tradebait to upgrade the QB position if I can get a breakout from one of my sleeper WR or If Willie Parker goes crazy in week one and I can move him while he's hot.

I want to Prop Orc who became my defacto Consigliare since he also is addicted to this silly shit,
doesn't really work either :D and was more than willing to debate numerous subjects like Steve Smith vs. Javon Walker
and whether Tatum Bell became a value pick in the 9th round.

Pretty weak! Better hope McNair gets hurt! You are solid at WR, K, D but you're going to be .500 at best

The only thing about Scott's team anyone needs to know is the fact that, by week four, it won't look anything like this.

In fact, the number of players that have the Drunken Trolls on their 2005 resume will be equivalent to the number of kids that have Derrick Thomas' name in the "father" space on the birth certificate.
Nope. Not dead.

Aaron Brooks - 7 - No true home games probably means his #'s go down
Byron Leftwich - 8 - Hasn't looked real good in pre season
Billy Volek - 15 - Always a backup if McNair is upright
Tim Rattay - 17 - Better pick and value

RB
Edgerrin - 1 - Soft, doesn't score enough TD's
Duece - 2 - In for a monster year before being evicted
JJ Arrington - 6 - BUST, Shipp should be starting
Tatum Bell - 9 - A good 2nd half of the season selection
Mewlede Moore - 10 - Good value but with Tice running the show who knows?
Willie Parker - 12 - Back on the WW in 5 weeks...

WR
Holt -3 - Solid
Javon Walker -5 - GB will be throwing a lot this season
Steve Smith - 4 - I think he'll do well
Rod Smith - 9 - zzzz...a decent bench player
Charles Rogers - 11 - Porcelain doll
Tyrone Callico - 13 - Can he even make it through practice? And does string bean know where the weight room is?
Travis Taylor - 19 - Better value & selection

K
Matt Stover - 18

D
Philly - 14

Overall good depth for RB and decent depth for WR, but I don't like your QB's much, especially considering you start 2 every week. I'd try to peddle Arrington now, before his 2.3 yard per carry or lack of ability to break arm tackles becomes widely known.

Aaron Brooks - 7 - No true home games probably means his #'s go down
In round 7, he was the highest rated QB left

Byron Leftwich - 8 - Hasn't looked real good in pre season
Not much different than Round 7 - New Offense is vertical - best potential to do something more than the previous year

Billy Volek - 15 - Always a backup if McNair is upright
Yes, but how long will McNair be upright? This is his last season and If I don't move Volek (already trade offers) he'll be starting by mid year with the Titans out of the playoff hunt)

Tim Rattay - 17 - Better pick and value
Round 17 and he was the last starting QB - LOL - I actually consider starting him vs. the Rams this week since they will be behind by 20 at the half

Edgerrin - 1 - Soft, doesn't score enough TD's
2004: 1500 yds and 9 Tds - remember he's also in a contract year. Toss in 51 receptions and 483 yads and he totals almost 2,000 - What are you smoking Joe?

Duece - 2 - In for a monster year before being evicted
The Saints retooled to run the ball, doesn't matter where they are playing. Best available at the # 14 selection

JJ Arrington - 6 - BUST, Shipp should be starting
Kinda early to call him a bust isn't it? In Dennis Green's system he's gonna have a lot of yards and catch a lot of balls - Lot's of worse # 3 backs

Tatum Bell - 9 - A good 2nd half of the season selection
Mike Anderson has this little fumbling problem that everyone sorta forgot about. It only takes a few to be in Shanny's doghouse. All Denver backs are high risk - high reward so in the 9th round, I'll take that risk

Mewlede Moore - 10 - Good value but with Tice running the show who knows?
See denver situation except that Bennett is also a china doll. Again, in round 10 I'll take a flyer that Mewelde emerges from the pack

Willie Parker - 12 - Back on the WW in 5 weeks...
On someone else's roster by week 4  - I'm starting him vs. Tenn over Arrington Sunday - Would not be surprised to see a Monster day

Holt -3 - Solid
Best available player with the 28th overall selection

Javon Walker -5 - GB will be throwing a lot this season
Agreed - plus Javon is in a contract year

Steve Smith - 4 - I think he'll do well
So do I - Someone has to catch all those Balls Moose had last year

Rod Smith - 9 - zzzz...a decent bench player
2004: 1,100 yds. & 7 Tds - a # 4 WR that may be in a rotation

Charles Rogers - 11 - Porcelain doll
Yea, two collar bone breaks doesn't do a lot for my confidence either, but at least they were bone breaks and not muscle or tendon tears which never really seem to heal. Opposite Roy Williams he's not a bad 4 and has great upside

Tyrone Callico - 13 - Can he even make it through practice? And does string bean know where the weight room is?
Big flyer here, but that's what you do in late rounds - I think a lot of passing in TN and he's a 6'4", fast target opposite Drew Bennett

Travis Taylor - 19 - Better value & selection
No telling, outside Burleson how the WR shake out in MN - Reports out of camp are he looks good

Overall good depth for RB and decent depth for WR, but I don't like your QB's much, especially considering you start 2 every week. I'd try to peddle Arrington now, before his 2.3 yard per carry or lack of ability to break arm tackles becomes widely known.

Agreed on my QBs - and I haven't seen Arrington play yet. I've heard a few pundits compare him to Robert Smith and if Denny spreads the field, he should be able to use some of that blazing speed.

When I think of Edge all I remember is him signaling Rhodes to come in against a goal line defense to run it in. Thankfully for you he is in a contract year. I don't doubt for a minute that this season he would hold himself out a few games because of dings if he had a long term deal in place. And when I say dings, I don't mean injuries.
