Broncos/Dolphins
Broncos/Dolphins
On paper this is a one sided deal but on opening day every team is pumped and playing with hope and enthusiasm. Christ even the Faiders hung in with the Patriots for a while and they aren't even in the same solar system talent and coaching wise.
I HOPE for a blowout...but I'm concerned also, and expect much less.
Our run defense was not good during pre-season and I expect a lot of sweeps...why not since we gave up about 5+ yds every time the opponent ran one? Hopefully the starters play the run better than the pre-season.
Bailey hasn't played a down this season and may be rusty...and the Miami receivers are pretty good. DWill is going to be a key in the nickle packages.
Lynch is a little too slow in coverage, and a mistake by the DBs may leave him exposed.
Key will be the pressure our D line brings to bear on Frerrotte. We have to be in his face and knocking him down, and do it with only 3 or 4 man rush. Since we'll be trying to bring the pressure. we'll get a lot of three wides, and maybe a lot of screens thrown at us. Our LBs will have to be ready for them
Miami is like 18-2 over the last 20 years in home openers. The humidity and heat there IS a factor. We have to maintain drives and keep the D rested or they will be able to hang with us....a bad thing in the 4th. We were a little spotty on maintaining drives in pre-season.
I hope Shanny has a great game plan because we need to get a lead and keep it up (offensive drives) the whole game. I think wer'e going to emphasize the run game to open up then use PA and rollouts when they try to contain that.
We must limit our turnovers to ONE or zero, and get at least TWO.
We have to avoid holding penaties (drive killers).
Overall, I think that we should win by seven to ten....but the line is 4. Bookies don't like to lose money. I think 24-17 is a likely score.
Thoughts?
Pssst. Memo to Felix and DTownmikey feel free to support your team before the game is played.

I think you're right, the game could be close. Saban should have the Dolphins "playing better". With former Brownout's Warren & Brown on the right side for Denver I'd guess that's where Miami will try and run the ball. Lynch is a liability at FS and teams will continue to go deep this season on the Broncos. Whether or not Miami can take advantage is the question? Frerotten?
Plummer would have go in the tank for Miami to pull it off.

If the Texans can go into Miami on opening day and beat a much better Dolphins team, then the Broncos definitely can.
Jake had a very good preseason. I think... or is it hope... he'll be much better this season.
I think you'll see the Champ Bailey of two or three seasons ago, especially since it's not a Prime Time game. Everyone is talking about the former Browns on the d-line, but is neglecting the biggest addition to that defense: a healthy Trevor Pryce.
I'm saying Denver by two touchdowns, 31-17.

Is "not getting burnt by Fin's WRs" really something to get worked up about? Let's wait until he shuts down a powerhouse WR core like the Chefs before we declare him back to AllPro form.Red wrote:I think you'll see the Champ Bailey of two or three seasons ago, especially since it's not a Prime Time game.

Trent Green > any skidmark Miami tosses behind center. Can't be too hard to cover a WR when an empty jockstrap is tossing em the rock. Besides, I was implying that the Chefs WRs suck as well.Red wrote:Chris Chambers > any member of the chefs receiver corps, suckinia.stuckinia wrote:Is "not getting burnt by Fin's WRs" really something to get worked up about? That and I don't think enough of Rat and his squad to wipe my arse with 'em.
Fvck Dungver.
Run Rick, run............

I think you misinterpretted some of my post. I said the Trent Green is a quality QB, especially when contrasted with The QBs of the Fish. (And yes, I am jealous. The Skins should never have let him go. Now we are stuck with Ramsey and Boonell.)KC Paul 3.0 wrote:Jealous much? Know your role, and shut your GODDAMN mouth.
I also realize that Kennison left Chump watching flames on the field like those left by a Delorean going back to a time when Chump was a quality CB.
My overall point is that Chump is to burnt as water is to wet.

Memo to icsf--I've been supporting the Broncos for longer than you've been alive.......so STFUicantstopfarting wrote:Memo to Felix and DTownmikey feel free to support your team before the game is played.
The Fish defense is always a concern, but given that Miami's offense will be virtually non-existent, expect Taylor and company to be spending way too much time on the field. The Dolphins will likely stay close for 3 quarters, but the lack of offensive production from the Fins will ultimately hurt the defense.
Lets call this one
Broncos-28
Miami-17
get out, get out while there's still time
Miami is going to surprise some teams this year, and I'm willing to bet if they'll be in the top ten in total offense.
Say what you want to about Gus, but he does have three quality receivers to throw to this year, a beast at TE and a two-headed rush monster in the backfield.
Chambers, Booker and Boston in the slot?
If they're able to stay healthy, Frerotte won't need that much time to hit wide open receivers. Closer game than anyone will like to admit, but I think they're a bit overmatched in this one.
Miami - 20
Denver - 24

Guess thats why they play the games.
Christ what a freaking embarassing performance. Plummer looks like a guy who couldn't start for his own high school team (16-41 as I type this). The offensive line is getting pushed back into their own backfield play after play. Tatum Bell has had one nice run but has been MIA since.
Props Miami and major props to Ferrote(sp?). Not only did we not compete, we didn't deserve to be on the same field as you today.
Hope Bailey is ok.
Give it up for Saban, that guy has this team playing hard.
Lots of work to do.

I'll just completely deny this game ever happened.
There was just no excuse for yesterdays debaucle. Sure the heat and humidity were factors, but the Dolphins were playing in the same conditions! Plus the Broncos had two-a-days in the hundred degree heat of Denver this past summer!
The team was just not ready. Plain and simple. It looked like they just didn't care and just wanted to get out of Miami as quickly as possible.
shanny says the team needs to "regroup". Heh, yeah that's the least of their worries right now.
and for the record, I was out of town in St. Louis over the weekend and all I saw were highlights hence why I'm a bit delayed in chiming in.
