your local news media
Please tell me the Denver news media isn't the only one to put the football team as top story on every newscast. There could be a triple murder in West Denver and a 10 car pileup that closes I-70, but no, the Broncos have the top story.
I for one am getting sick of our local media over hyping our football team! Win or lose the game is the top story on Saturday night, all news casts on Sunday and the evening newscasts on Monday night! Granted I wasn't in town this weekend to see it, but it was like that throughout preseason and ever since I've lived here.
My take on this is if the Broncos get priority on the newscasts, then the Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets or whoever else is playing that day should also get the same run on their game days.

Tell me you're kidding about them. :Pd-townmike wrote: then the Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets or whoever else is playing that day should also get the same run on their game days.

well, technically, but my point is if the Broncos get local run as top story, then the other sports teams should get the same treatment...even if they're the Colorado Springs Sky Sox' farm team.Jeff 2K5 wrote:Tell me you're kidding about them. :Pd-townmike wrote: then the Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets or whoever else is playing that day should also get the same run on their game days.

When the seasons over... you can get back to murders taking up the first 10 minutes of the "local news".

the Denver network channel news are hilariously bad.
but, i suspect that's true everywhere.
there used to be a difference between "journalism" and empty smiling, doofus haircuts, and talking on TV about Officer Jones and his K-9 pal "Rusty".
but you all know that.

Funny you bring this subject up Mike, I don’t know what news you watched last night, but I was thinking the complete opposite, for the first time ever when I tuned into the news following a Bronco game the Broncos were a quick side note at the beginning of the cast and not talked about again until “sports” came on. Hope to hell, win or lose that is not a sign of things to come from our local news!
Denver has been and hopefully always will be an NFL FOOTBALL town! The Fans have been behind the team from day 1. Even when the Broncos won 2 to 6 games a year (year after year) the city of Denver was behind them! The only other teams lucky enough to have that kind of support are the Redskins and Packers.
I’ve lived here my whole life and I don’t like the changes that are happening everyday, but the day baseball is more important or even as important as football here in Denver is the day I know the City has gone to shit!

It does not matter what market you are in. As long as it is a typical news day, they know the local NFL team is the biggest story in town on game day.

You don't live in a city... you live in a cowtown, just like Denver...
Breaking News.... tonight in KC....
a car wreck....

then, Larry Johnson....

Real cities dont start off the news with a car wreck, and what has happened to a Chief....

Rack the cooler weather tonight... It reminds me of being in a real city!
