Countdown to another Raider beatdown starts...now

Post by jiminphilly »

I don't even see how this can be a contest. Moss has a lot of difficulty getting open against the Eagles secondary. Collins is a statue behind the line and his slow release and lack of mobility means a lot of sacks and a few fumbles for the Eagles blitzing defense.

The middle of the field looked open against the Raiders D last night and LJ Smith should exploit that nicely. I'm still waiting for a LB to step up and cover Westbrook.

The Eagles beatdown of the Faiders will make their game against the 69ers look close.

I wouldn't hurt if the Raiders just ran the fucking ball 80 percent of the time next week. But they wont.and we wont win.

I think the Eagles win this game. Hope like hell I'm wrong.

I think Philly will hold Moss down, his worst game of his brief Oakland career, and will force Collins into a couple of turnovers......either INTs or
fumbles, whatever.

Oakland's defense will once again play it's heart out, but the offense will have a poor outing.

Philly won't play like worldbeaters, but they'll do enough for a comfortable home win.

Eagles - 23
Raiders - 12

The line on this game is Philly by 6. (7.5 in my office pool :x )

Makes me wonder if Danny of "Road Dawgs" pool hall in OKC is right about Vegas. Dude was all about conspiracy theories when it came to Vegas odds ... naturally, being a former pool pro and heavy gambler (at least according to him), really no surprise that dude seriously believed every game in pro sports was fixed.

According to him, and I'm paraphrasing here based on my conversations with this guy when I lived in OKC and used to visit his pool hall with my dad on a regular basis to shoot a few games fairly often, as we'd always end up sitting and talking with Danny, because he was a natural people person and had some interesting ideas about life.

At any rate, from what I remember after my dad and I having this conversation with him several times ...

Him: "Here's how it works ... you've got the really, really big dogs, you know, like the guys that make Bill Gates seem like a piece of corn in my commode back there, you know what I'm sayin?"

Us:

Him: "No! Ya'll think I'm bullshittin', but I swear to God, it's what's goin' on."

Us: (with serious looks on faces) "OK, go on. What's the real story here?"

Him: "Well, as I was sayin', you have the really serious, serious guys. Hell, these guys don't even bet they're so serious, hell, they don't have to bet, and even if they did, they could bet their whole lives and still come out ahead. That's how far they are ahead of you and I, you understand what I'm sayin'?"

Us: "Uh ... yeah."

Him "OK. These guys are some seriously high up (low-voice) motherfuckers, know what I'm sayin'?"

Us: (Getting annoyed) "Yeah, we got it."

Him: "OK, here's the deal. Those guys get together early in the week, and they all sit down and look at the games and say, 'OK, what do you think people will put money on so-and-so team and should they be favored."

Us: "Huh?"

Him: "I swar ta God, ya'll. bangs hand on table I'm not bullshittin' ya."

Us: "We know. So what happens after the Star Chamber decides who's the favorite and the point spread?"

Him: "Well, then these guys then let the people that everybody thinks has real money, you know, the guys that run the casinos, know what they've decided. If they (the casino gurus and other powers that be in high society) see some major flaw, they let the big dawgs know about it, and it all gits worked out."

Us: "So then when does all this happen?"

Him: "ALL the time."

Us:"Like right now?" (with game in the background)

Him: "Oh, they've already decided that game. They're working on next week's game right now, or will be, come Monday or Tuesday."

Us: "So how can 'they' control individual plays on the field? How can 'they' really determine the outcome?"

Him: "Oh, believe me, they can and do, all the time! Ya'll just don't know it. They pay players to be injured. If you believe anything I'm telling you, and ya'll can believe what you want ... that shit happens all the time. You've never seen Randy Moss take off a play? You've never seen fuckin' Barry Bonds go 0-4 against some shit team? Ya'll can believe what you want, but believe me, there's somebody whisperin' in their ears, tellin' them, 'You're going to git shit tonight, and you're goin' to git paid.'"

Us:

Him: "Ya'll can laugh all you want, but it's the truth. SWEAR TO GOD."

Anyway ... Philly by 6, according to Pro Football Weekly? Danny would laugh.

I'll be proud of my Raiders when they prove you wrong come Sunday. They blasted the 49ers after getting beat by Atlanta (who lost to Seattle of all teams). The Niners seemed defeated all week in the papers before they left for Philly last week. Our defense hits just as hard except I'd like to see them blitz a little more often. Were a young team and just getting to know eachother, we haven't been blown out and just some bad bounces have cost us the close games. Philly is a tuff place to play but so was N.E. in front of the Country to start the season! I think that was a bigger challenge and we did well. This week the pieces will be put together.

GO RAIDERS!

RAIDERS 24
Eagles 21

p.s. FUCK THE EAGLES!

Brace yourselves.....

I like the Faiders in this game.

No reason to pick them on paper, no reason to expect them to show up on offense, just a feeling I'm having this week.

Winning this game after losing at home to a division rival would just be so.....Faiderlike. It's the Raider way to drop the game they really need then win one that will get all the fans wet but in the long run mean much much less to the team's playoff chances. Maybe they can keep the penality yardage under 100 and bust out some big plays. Plus I do like Lamont Jordan as a pounding back and I think he starts to get off this week after a subpar effort the last game. After Hollis I have some questions about the Eagles D line and their ability to hold up against the run .

Besides Chokeland can't open the season 0-3 can they?

I'm betting no.

Fuck it I've been wrong before, but I'm going with a pissed off Faiders team to pull off the upset of the week here.

Funny you’re feeling that way… I just put Philadelphia down as my “Survivor Pick” and immediately got a strange feeling in my stomach!

Ahhh never mind, had nothing to do with the pick, I just farted and it went away!

Since you're picking us.

I'll go out and say I like the Mules chances monday night. The Mule defense is solid that linebacking core is outstanding and that defense shut down Tomlinson and co in the second half. Once again the Rats OL schemes(aka cutblocking) has rejuvenated Ron Dayne. If the mules can run consistanly and keep Green ,Holmes,Gonzalez and co off the field, the Donks could pull this one out. The mile high crowd will play a huge factor as well.

No, but I'm sure if they by some reason pull out a win, they will be in here giving you the "I told you so"

if Faiders win at least 5 threads will be started explaining their Super Bowl intentions

Sad fact is once Dawkins lays a helmet on Moss, Moss will quit..Moss never wants any of that.

It's nice that McNabb,TO and Westbrook all had time off this week.

Unfortunately for Andy Reid, well rested doesn't equate to playing well.

Nice split-screen showing Moss scowling after Owens' touchdown.

Heard the play before where Owens comes across the middle and gets the first down after taking a hit.

"Hey Randy ... see that? You can't do that!"

This guy needs more run.

Yeah , like he could do much from the sideline . With his team committing multiplr penalties. And with Collin's as QB.

It's really Westbrook's show today anyway .
