I was at the game.
Final Score
SC 31
UO 13
Refs 14
4th quarter help aside, (and that was PATHETIC! Pac-10 refs continue to show why they are the worst in the country year in and year out. ORegon wasn't going to win, but it should have looked better.) SC is probably the best offense I've ever seen live. They just make it look so easy. Effortlessly strolling down the field.
It's mostly all about No. 5 though. Every thing flows from the impact he has on the field and the defense. He should win the Heisman. My friend said it best . . . "Dude is like a video game."

Never quite been a fan of the "if game" but since you want to play, I'll join.
If SC's linebackers weren't all injured we woulda played even better
If SC's cornerbacks weren't hurt or lost for the season we would have played better
If Oregon had a running game worth a fuck, they might have played better
If that ball doesn't go off Jarret's hands in the right direction, it isn't an INT
If Bush's shoe doesn't come off, that was probably a touchdown...we scored anyway never mind
If SC doesn't have so many penalties in the first half, we hang 60+ on Oregon
...and the kicker...
If Oregon was any good, they wouldn't need to whine about officiating or the loss looking better because the scoreboard would have taken care of business.
Idiot.

Actually, if Oregon's coaches had any balls, we may have knocked USC off yesterday. That was horrendous playcalling from the coaches. If there was evebr a game not to be conservative in this was it. There was nothing to lose.
Our chance was to attack 'SC's depleted secondary, yet we ran on EVERY first down. On 3rd down we dropped Clemens back into the pocket, instead of rolling him out. It's like they wanted to lose this game and they decided to take what HASN'T been working this season and use it at every opportunity.
It should have been 24-0 before 'SC ever scored (Personal foul called back a TD in the 2nd quarter, Not going for it on 4th and 1 heading in on the 20).
The players were ready, the crowd was ready...The coaches didn't put us in position to win the game.
As for the interception. Yeah, it hit Jarrett in the hands, but it was an overthrow, nontheless. Lineart was struggling with the Autzen crowd in the first half. But instead of taking advantage of it, Bellotti decided to sit on a lead, as if 13 points was going to be enough to get the job done.
Our recievers were open all game long. Again, we tried to run in on every first down, followed by a shovel pass or screen pass on 2nd. Pathetic. Attack em deep. It would have worked.
I'm not going to bitch about the calls, in this post... we had our chance to take control of this game in the first half, and blew it. The defense was worn out in the 2nd half because the coaches were content to punt the ball away after a few pathetic play calls each series.
In the end we got blown out...'SC will have closer games than that this year, but that being said, that may be the only game they are down double-digits this year. It may be the only game they are held scoreless in the 1st quater.
ASU and maybe Notre Dame look like the only realistic chances for an 'SC loss this year. Koetter won't be conservative like Bellotti and will attack 'SC deep. But the ASU crowd shouldn't be a factor after playing at Autzen yesterday.

The refs didn't cost us the game, but they did cost us that. Should have been 31-20 heading into the 4th quarter with that one there.
So, even if the call is made, the TD should have counted. With that being said, it was a LEGAL block anyway.
NCAA Rule 9.e.2
Backs at the snap positioned with the frame of their body completely outside the frame of the body of the normal tackle (second player from the snapper) position in either direction toward a sideline, or in motion at the snap, are prohibited from blocking below the waist toward the original position of the ball in or behind the neutral zone and within 10 yards beyond the neutral zone. The frame of the body does not include arms or legs extended sideways (A.R. 9-1-2-XXVI).
Terrell Jackson, #21, is our Tailback and was lined up at the tailback "I" position, directly behind the QB and between the tackles, at the snap of the ball....
We didn't lose it from the refs. But they were awful

USC greets O.J. as hero
New York Daily News ^ | 12/29/02

Sports wire
For the first time in more than eight years, O.J. Simpson attended a USC football practice yesterday, mingling and chatting with players in Miami, giving some of them autographs and posing for pictures with others.
"I never thought I would be watching SC practice here on New Year's," said Simpson, who was a star for the Trojans in the 1960s and won the 1968 Heisman Trophy.
The fifth-ranked Trojans face No. 3 Iowa in the Orange Bowl on Thursday.
Simpson, 55, lives in Miami and has had little contact with the school since a Los Angeles jury acquitted him of murder in 1995 in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
A civil jury later held Simpson liable for the killings and ordered him to pay the victims' survivors $33.5 million. His Heisman was sold to meet part of the obligation. He has always maintained his innocence.
Simpson seemed in high spirits at the USC practice, pumping coach Pete Carroll's hand and smiling. He hugged many of the coaches and players.Carroll seemed pleased.
"It's his school, and the guys were excited to see him," Carroll said. "He's a legend. At SC, our guys hold a Heisman Trophy winner in high regard."

I see how you roll, JayDuck. You run your trap about knocking us off, dating back to the spring, and when your team ends up getting plungered in their own crib you don't even have the stones to man up and rack the better team for beating you.
It was officiating and poor playcalling by your own team, not a superior opponent, which resulted in the assraping you took at Autzen yesterday. Yes, that's right, the assraping you took at Autzen yesterday.
In the end, you're just a shit fan from a shit program with a shit attitude. And I can deal with that. Oregon hasn't been relevant since the turn of the century and, no matter how the cards fall for USC the rest of the season, the Ducks were once again made USC's bitch.
Nice watching those quitter fans of yours stream out of Autzen during the third quarter. You guys really know how to support that shit team of yours.

Your poor math, or history, skills aside Trojan fans haven't been visible since USC has, once again, become relevant.Jimmy Medalions wrote: Oregon hasn't been relevant since the turn of the century and, no matter how the cards fall for USC the rest of the season, the Ducks were once again made USC's bitch.
Sorry, Dude. Total Bullshit. Autzen was full until nearly the bitter end. With 6 minutes left, when we had our second string offense in the game, despite Carroll leaving his 1st string end, worried that Lineart's shitty first half may have validated the claim that he lost himself millions by coming back another year, the Duck fans were still there. You finally saw the Duck fans leave with about 2 minutes to go, when we were no longer even passing the ball.Jimmy Medalions wrote:Nice watching those quitter fans of yours stream out of Autzen during the third quarter. We saw the best sign pop up with only 2 minutes to go, as you saw "Win or Lose we still booze" draped across the entire Student Section.
Like I told Lax, my apologies if I didn't get down on my knees to bow before the mighty Trojans and the Carroll Dynasty that is never to be touched, questioned or challenged, before the game was played. I was confident and hopeful of our chances, as a fan should be.
My fucking soon to be wife is a better Trojan fan than 99% of your joke of a fanbase, so don't even think for a second that you can condescend to us when talking about "quitter" fans. She was a season ticket holder throughout the Hackett years and there was no one showing up and no one paying attention. We sold out every game through a losing season last year. She was at the game with me yesterday and said she's never seen anything like it, in terms of fan intensity. She also said, even our pathetic home loss to INdiana last year (which was her first Duck game) were louder and more into it than they ever are at the Collesium.
USC is fucking Shit Fan central.

OJ smack is about as fresh as the oklahoma city bomber the watch tower sniper and the columbine kids. funny how a jc transfer who's kids go to Miami is all that people come up with when they want to smack USC. I was at USC during the Smith and Robinson years and have been a booster and season seat holder since I graduated, and even in the lean years USC had 60,000 people in the Coliseum, more than Oregon had yesterday. I wont get in to the amount of things there is to do in LA compared to Eugene cause that is an old, old road, but even Fouts said during the telecast last night that there wasnt anything else to do in that town.
The game was very passionate and poorly officiated, but the officiating was bad for both sides. I said Oregon would need USC to turn the ball over and play poorly to keep it close and aslong as USC was doing that the score was close, once USC got their act together and cut down their mistakes they pulled away, which is what everyone expected. Good luck to the Ducks the rest of the season

If you are talking out of the both sides of your mouth, whatever “props" you give on one side is “taken back” with the garbage coming out the other side.
Here, for OregonFan (and MSUFan when the time comes this season)
Eating Crow 101
- Admit your team sucked ass
- Give opposing team their props
- Shut the fuck up
It’s that easy.

Puh-lease. As if 'SC needs to get any more props from me.
These claims might have some merit, if there was any reason to believe from any of my posts that I thought we would have been a better team than 'SC, even if we won the game. But no, all I talked about was the, very real, facts about 'SC playing down to the level of the competetion on the road, in Pac-10 openers the last few seasons.
Just like they did in the first half, on Saturday, which gave us the chance we needed, and failed to take advantage of.
If 'SC fan can't sleep at night without me gushing over their team, fuck 'em.
I've defended, and gone to bat for, 'SC on these boards over the past couple seasons, almost more than the 'SC fans have, who didn't even start trickling in here until after they'd won a title, when it's been bowl time. In Pac-10 play, they can prop themselves.

Actually, it seems to be a few of you that are melting down, for some strange reason, because I apparently need to give "more props" to USC after a loss.
I'm just here, taking my lumps and firing back. I didn't insult anyone to start this. I just gave my report on the game and called out our coaching staff for being pussies.
It was you that then melted and start firing back about Oregon's "quitter fans" and "Shit fans" and went into the frequently heard "you used to be a great poster..." routine.
Nice try though, if that was supposed to get a rise out of me.

I was at Autzen and it was largely full till the end.
In fact, many students came onto the field after the game because they wanted to meet Reggie Bush and the other SC players. I saw students go up to him and shake his hand. They knew it was a treat to see them play in person.
Maybe we shouldn't be singling out J Meds for being a prop-hound. It's something that's just an SC fan thing. There was a thread the other week on wearesc.com that featured posters complaining about the LA TImes giving UCLA top billing for beating Oklahoma. SC fans felt the paper was slighting their win over Arkansas.

I'd have t say that after watching 5 games this year officitaed by Pac 10 crews that they are by far the most pathetic group in major college football.
