The Jets step on their collective dicks ...
The Jets stepped on their collective dicks when they cut a future Hall of Famer (Vinny Testaverde) loose for the human fumble machine (Chad Pennington).
The Jets dumped Testaverde because of his fat contract, plain and simple. When they discovered that they had a marginal QB in Pennington on the roster (who comes MUCH cheaper to them), then it became "Bye bye, Mr. HOF". "Mad" Herman Edwards believed that he can win with a strong defense and it goes without saying that he's good with the performance of his offense. Having said that, his offensive line STILL didn't play up to their talent level last year, even with the additions of Justin McCareins and Santana Moss - along with Curtis Martin those are three potential Pro Bowlers starting on that team, yet they couldn't protect Testaverde in the '03 opener vs. NYG and I watched plenty of other games where Pennington had to improvise because a enemy defender was all up in his kitchen.
Pile-on if you like, but Testaverde still has "it."
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Even at 100 years old Vinnie has a better arm than Chad the NY fad. Invest in life insurance Mr Testaverde, you're going to need it this season playing behind that sieve of an Oline.Pile-on if you like, but Testaverde still has "it."
The real question is will the Jets change their colors to Sky Blue?
Butkus didn't wear an earring.

Assassin, Vinny Testaverde is just like ANY other upper-tier NFL quarterback. You put an above-average offensive line in front of him, a Pro-Bowl caliber RB behind him, and a pair of Pro Bowl WRs (with the complimentary 3rd and 4th WRs that KNOW THEIR ROLES) and he will perform up to ANYONE'S expectations. Kurt Warner is a great example- when he came to St. Louis in 1999 he had a decent O-line in front of him, an unexpected rising STAR at RB (Marshall) behind him, a stud TE, and SHIT for WRs (Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Az Hakim, Ricky Proehl). Now he has the BEST offensive line in the NFL BAR NONE to protect him, a STUD RB (Shipp) still carrying the load, a STUD TE, and his WRs are average-to-ABOVE average (Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Bryant Johnson)- Voila! INSTANT Pro Bowler!

Most insurance salesmen have better arms than Chad Pennington. What's your point?Joe in PB wrote:Even at 100 years old Vinnie has a better arm than Chad the NY fad. I'm sorry you disagree, Bucmoney. That's my opinion and there's NOTHING you (or anyone else) can do to change it.
This forum was rather lifeless until I posted my take on how I feel about what the Jets did to Vinny Testaverde - nothing more and nothing less. Seems I was asked a while back to keep the football flow going here, and that was my intent. Some others can't seem to figure that out. THAT'S not on me, whether you like it or not.
DEAL WITH IT.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAY.....I'm thinking maybe some/most/all of you are taking this a wee-bit too seriously.
Get a grip. SERIOUSLY.
I'll take the parlay.
Allow me to also out my muse since hitting you over the head with a hammer seems to have no effect ...
A fun stroll down memory lane.

BTW Jeff ... you've either not been around very long, or you're not very smart.Clueless in DC wrote:Who is this shit troll?

Damn, that was fun. RIP Smackboard. I'd forgotten just how tight you had to be before you'd dare to hit submit. Some of the newbies would do well to read thru that thread carefully and see what nuggets of wisdom can be gleaned.orcinus wrote: A fun stroll down memory lane.
One thing for damn sure, Paul sure can take a punch.
