Not exactly. He's being ignored.
Oh.....OK.

I guess I can understand how they just forgot about the guy who caught 102 passes last year. I'm sure defenses aren't doing anything special to take him out of the game or anything.

:meds:
Why don't you ask the man himself?
“I’m not pointing any fingers,” he said. “But defenses are not doing anything different now than they’ve ever done. Yeah, they’re double-teaming me. They’ve been double-teaming me ever since I got into this league.

“The Eagles didn’t do anything special to stop me. I just didn’t get the opportunity. I have to get the opportunity to do it. I need to get the ball to help this team win. I am a six-time Pro Bowler. We’ve always found ways to get me the ball in my hands before. I don’t know. I can’t tell you what’s going on. But it’s frustrating.”

Deflecting the attention away from yourself. Nice strategy.

Feel free to let us know when the Chiefs are done renting space in your dome. I know a guy looking for a starter home.

Were you at the game? Any CB that is knocking TO on his ass that much must be doing a bang up job. Explain the 11 times he didn't?
No I was NOT at the game, but I saw it on TV. Hell, the sideline reporter on the Chiefs Radio Network even said that Surtain shut down T.O. at the line of scrimmage so badly on a couple of plays that T.O. cried like a little bitch to the refs about being HELD. So to answer your question Jim, Surtain (in the few times he WAS assigned to cover T.O.) DID a bang up job of covering him.
So which is it Paul.. you saw it on TV.. when no one else did? Or you heard some sideline reporter telling the radio announcers that TO was telling the refs that Surtain was holding him at the line.. which is a lot different that Surtain actually knocking TO down which was your original post..

Nice job kicking your own ass Paul.

Why don't you ask the man who has to throw him the ball? (same article.. why did you leave this quote out??)

The Chiefs say this is because teams are defending Gonzalez differently this year. They are double-teaming him more. They are lining up cornerbacks on him.

“It’s a lot different from last year,” Green said.
Gonzo can only see what is in front of him. The Eagles said they did a lot of chipping on Gonzo.. LB's hit him as he left the line of scrimmage.. when he was blocking the DE's made it a point to be VERY physical with him. Sounds like they were trying to slow up his route running and tire him out..

Gonzo, like any receiver is going to say he was open on every play. The QB, the one guy who can judge if he is open or not, must be seeing something that Gonzo is not. Green is a very good qb. I think I'll go with his judgement on ths one..

Green didn't say he was being double teamed more. That was the sportswriter's inference. Green simply said “It’s a lot different from last year".

What is a "lot different from last year" is the Chiefs inability to provide Green enough time to throw the ball. That is causing him to look away from Gonzo because Gonzo doesn't have the time to shake the double teams like he did last year. If you think teams just started doubling on Gonzo this year, you need to back off the rock.

Bingo.

That will change greatly when Roaf returns, and to a lesser extent, Welbourne. T-Gon started slowly last year as well, before blowing the fuck up. I expect him to start piling up catches, yds, and TD's soon.

One of the first Whitlock articles I'll say I agree with......
Hey Vermeil, think about these ideas

JASON WHITLOCK

Dick Vermeil gave the Chiefs so much free time during training camp that it seems odd that he’d give his well-rested players a week off after back-to-back disastrous performances.

The Chiefs have a lot to work on, including integrating Eric Warfield, John Welbourn and Willie Roaf back into the playing rotation.

Vermeil and his coaching staff have chosen to think rather than act during the bye week. Well, I’ve been thinking, too, thinking about what Vermeil and his coaching staff should be thinking about over the next week.

The Chiefs, 2-2, have problems. But they still also have a great deal of potential. This team is getting a rare middle-of-the-season infusion of talent — Warfield, Welbourn and Roaf.

No other team in the league will pick up three players with as much starting experience as the trio set to rejoin the Chiefs. Despite the Philly and Denver games, there’s no reason to panic. The Chiefs can reach all of their goals.

Here are my coaching suggestions for the bye week:

Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham needs to commit to the 3-4. The Chiefs simply don’t have the necessary personnel up front to utilize a 4-3. Lional Dalton, John Browning and Junior Siavii are not providing much of a push in the middle. Dalton’s play has slipped from a year ago.

The lack of an inside push breaks down Kansas City’s pass rush. The play of defensive ends Jared Allen and Eric Hicks has been satisfactory. Neither player is Dwight Freeney or Michael Strahan. Allen and Hicks are solid ends.

Even with the knee injury to linebacker Keyaron Fox, the most talent in KC’s front seven is in its linebacking corps. Kendrell Bell has been an early-season disappointment. He’s not making plays. He had success in Pittsburgh in the 3-4. Rookie Derrick Johnson would also benefit from a commitment to the 3-4. Johnson and Bell could be KC’s best pass-rushers. The Chiefs have a better chance of getting to the quarterback with disguised blitzes rather than relying on one of their defensive linemen to beat someone up front.

I’d rather see rookie linebacker Kris Griffin on the field than one of KC’s ineffective defensive tackles.

Warfield and Patrick Surtain are high-priced corners. Gunther needs to make them earn their money by demanding that they play man-to-man. They’re being paid like they’re James Hasty and Dale Carter, so I say ask them to cover like Hasty and Carter.

Don’t fiddle around with Warfield — install him in the starting lineup against Washington. I don’t want to hear a bunch of excuses about how he’s been suspended the first month of the season. He’s an experienced veteran who should report to work in shape and ready to earn.

■ Scrap the Priest Holmes-Larry Johnson running back rotation. Demand that Holmes and Johnson be mature and play when their numbers are called. There’s no reason to give up on L.J. He should still be a significant part of every game plan.

But when Holmes is clicking, stick with him until he’s tired. If Johnson gets hot when he’s given an opportunity, stick with him until he’s tired. For now, always use Holmes inside the 10. He knows how to get into the end zone.

Prepare Will Shields to play right tackle, so that he can step outside if Kevin Sampson struggles. Welbourn can play right guard.

■ Fire tight ends coach Jason Verduzco. The Chiefs have been an embarrassment off the field this season. Vermeil’s players went “wilding” in Wisconsin and Minneapolis during training camp. Now an assistant coach has to be maced by police on the day of a game. Ridiculous. Vermeil might as well use Verduzco as an example that the organization won’t tolerate people who can’t control their tempers. The message is long overdue.

Gotta say I agree with most of this

Players were given a week off....?

Oooooo k. :?

I might understand a number of consecutive off days for a veteran team like KC if their bye came, say, in week 11 or something, but at this point I can't say that I think it is a very good idea.

Even in that scenario I wouldn't give them a WHOLE week off.

There's too many things to improve upon, too much BAD play to be addressed, and too many players simply not gettin' it done right now.

Bad move, Dickless.

On top of all that, I really think that Vermeil SHOULD NOT have given those guys the whole week off. They could've spent this week getting Shields ready to play RT and Welbourn ready to play RG.
Hey Husky don't forget you're the original KCJabba...don't even try to pawn that shit off on someone else!
