26 More Free Throws? (As of this post...)

Post by the_ouskull »

Thanks Hightower, we appreciate it. Between our inability to figure out their press and zone and your inability to call a foul on a team OTHER than Oklahoma, we just lost a game by eight in which we got to watch the other team shoot 26 more free throws. Once again, thank you for your continued hatred of all things Sooner.

Ass.

Free Throws

OU 7 of 10

ISU 22 of 37

Iowa St just had the high point of their season. They are a horrible team.

Bad loss for OU but it won't matter much expect for seeding in the Big Dance.

Even with the win over OU I doubt ISU goes over 5 and 11 in the Big 12. I hope they finish high enough in the conference so we can play them in the Big 12 tourny.

ISU was playing some good defense early on, but damn if their non-transitional offense didn't suck.

Ed Hightower... I thought he was Big 10 until I started seeing him recently in Big 12 games. WTF? Guy sucks!

Ed Hightower has been doing Big 12 games since it was the Big 8, he is not the reason why OU lost, but he still sucks.

It seems to me he really like to call Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Okie St and Texas games.

Seems to lean his calls against the southern teams, distinctly OU, and Okie st.

Does he show the same trends in the Big 10?

Half those freethrow attempts came at the end of the second half when OU was grabbing any guy in white to put them at the line.

ISU is not a horrible team unless by horrible you mean young, inexperienced and incapable of shooting anything from the outside. They've been holding most teams to right around 50 points which means if they can get the damn ball in the hoop they're in the game. Today they were getting in the hoop.

No, I mean ISU is a horrible team. That was the worst Big12/8 loss Oklahoma has had since Kelvin has been coach.

ISU did not fold today, but they folded their season with the victory. Way too many injuries on an already depleated team.

It would not suprize me to see Baylor win in Aimes the very next game.

Still, you have bode Mr. Twister, no denying that.

Hightower is legendary around the B-11. I swear the guy gets death threats.

CBS has the Free Throws at 39 for ISU; 10 for OU.

Trap games, baby... trap games...

... 'cept you're not supposed to let conference rivals put you in a "trap game" situation. For as embarrassing as the KU choke against 'Nova was, at least it doesn't count in the Big 12 standings.

Watching them do a textbook dismantling of Texas, however, was a thing of beauty.

OU getting the home game against KU this season will likely not be enough to turn the tide in OU's favor.

NEVER said I thought OU was Final Four material, but I still stand by my thoughts that KU is not. Once again, although all of you sunshine pumpers can't differentiate, I'm NOT anti-KU. Just stating my opinion.

Having said that, the free throw discrepancy was absolutely horrible today. OU sure doesn't get that kind of home cookin'. BUT, at the same time, we should have found a way to break their zone. We got whupped. I can admit that when it happens. The 30whatever to 10 difference just makes it harder to swallow, that's all.

From what I saw of that game, ISU outhustled OU. They outplayed them. I saw the first half of the game and during timeouts of the Iowa-Indiana game, but from what I saw OU was really struggling with ISU's zone defense.

One thing the teams need to understand is that when Ed Hightower is reffing the game, one team has to play through his bizarre calls. Oklahoma is a better team than they played yesterday. ISU's defense had more to do with OU struggling than Hightower's biased officiating. But Oklahoma has to bounce back to stay in the Big-12 race. Poor effort from the Sooners. Reffing didn't lose this game for the Sooners. Lack of hitting shots prevented them from winning.
