Either way - Maddox is not currently up to par physically to perform as an NFL QB. He can be expected to break into tiny bits when a defender lands a glove on him, but when he cannot pass the football, with nothing in his face, there is nothing left to see.

What are Steeler fans supposed to do - applaud a performance like that? Is this the NFL or the fucking Girl Scouts?

Tommy's lucky to even be on the roster. It has been clear since early last year that he cannot cut the mustard.

No offense but you don't have to follow the Steelers to know that Tommy Maddox was washed up prior to this year and should be out of the league. It's one thing if they brought him in from the street like Testaverde.. but somehow Maddox and his limp arm make the P Burgh roster..

Are they tight against the cap?

Yea, they're tight against the cap. Don't know if that's why Maddox made the roster. The one value that he does bring to the roster is that Ben Roethlisberger thinks a lot of him as a mentor. I don't know why. Maybe Ben figures that if he watches Maddox play and does everything the exact OPPOSITE of Maddox, he'll be a HOFer. So far, I can't argue with his results.

Interestingly enough, the Steelers tried to sign Brian St. Pierre to the practice squad, and he refused - with no other offers on the table. Eventually he signed to B-More's squad...

Batch played well in the preseason. He was gearing up to play this week, until Maddox came through with his miraculous recovery.

I'm not going to absolve the coaches in this. Cowher has shown a propensity to stick with failing QBs in the past. Bottom-lining it right now - Maddox needs to go.

Let me preface my post by saying that as a Bengals fan, I'm down on the sig bet.

For me this game comes down to need vs. want. Obviously every NFL team in every game they play needs/wants to win. But some games take on added importance in one of those two categories. This game, Pittsburgh really NEEDS to win, Cincy really WANTS to win. If Pitt loses they fall way behind in the division race and are lumped with a pack of teams fighting it out in the wildcard race. They can't afford to let that happen. This game means more in the playoff race and standings for Pitt. If Cincy loses this game, many pundits and the general public will think their record is hollow from beating weaker competition and the teams confidence might waver a bit. This is a game that Marvin Lewis and the team really want to have. In most cases though, need trumps want. Which is why I have a bad feeling Pitt wins a close one. The run D of Cincy is just too suspect against scat back runners, so I think Willie Parker has a big day. I'm sold on Palmer keeping Cincy in any and every game though, so I think it'll be a dogfight. Hope like hell I'm wrong.

since this thread has turned into a SteelerFan circle jerk..
I think the bengals can win this game. Im just not sold on our run D. to say that its pourous is being nice. if we can get ahead we should win this game. I have been reading and listening to all the "experts" and all seem the have the same frame of mind. Cinci has played a weak schedule and have benifited from said weak schedule. then I took a look at it..
Cinci's schedule:
@ Cleveland (2-3) W
Minnesota (1-4) W
@ Chicago (2-3) W
Houston (0-5) W
@Jacksonville (3-2) L
@Tennessee (2-4) W

which at first look apears to fairly weak. albeit in the NFL a team needs to beat the teams they are suppose to beat. 10-21 over all opponet is a weak reacord. However its not like we were just bairly winning these game. the Jacksonville game came down to the final drive and we could very easily be 6-0 heading into this game..
now lets look at Pittsburgd schedule:.

Tennessee (2-4) W
@ Houston (0-5) W
New England (3-3) L
bye
@ San Diego (3-3) W
Jacksonville (3-2) L

This schedule isnt any more impressive than Cinci's. sure they've beaten the team they were suppose to. but teams that played them tough they were beaten by. one win over a .500 team does not a great schdule make. 11-17 isnt much better considering they have one less game played than Cinci. my baisc point is that Pittsburg hasn't played any body either and beat them. with the sole win over San Diego the only think that makes them look good. I just dont think this years pittsburg team is as healthy as previous years, and I dont think its as tallented. FA losses have taken their toll. However Cower is a hell of a coach and dude is just nails and has had the Bengals number the last couple of years. but this is the year of the Bengal..and in the end, if the bengals win this, then I look to see them run away with the AFCN and lose in the first or second round of the playoffs. (depending on if they get the bye week) This game could be the turning point of the Bengal Franchise. and one wild horses couldn't drag me away from. unlike shine, i am going to predict a close game but I see the bengal defence rising to the occasion and stoping roethlisburger on the final drive and sealing the win.

Bengals 23
Pittsburg 20
