He's determined to win the British

Post by Felix »

Jean "Ooops" Van De Velde plans on trying to qualify for the British Women's open

http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/news;_ ... &type=lgns
``My whole point is where do we draw the line?'' Van de Velde asked after shooting a 7-over-par 78 Thursday in the first round of the Volvo Masters. ``If we accept that women can enter our tournaments, then it applies that men can play with women.''

I'm guessing he'd prefer that to define his career rather than the meltdown at Carnoustie...can't say I blame him....but he'd better shoot better than 78's, otherwise I don't like his odds on qualifying

we saw this while we were still in the golf shop and laughed.

you know how this will end for Van de Velde....he'll Surrender.

i think Barry Lane's comment is the one that should get the most Heat.....ummm....from all of the Laura Davies' disciples.

(paraphrase)--->100 men taking away their spots.....then where will they play?

Q, I wanted to tell you that I took your advice and picked up two Nickent utility irons. I got the 17 degree 2 with the Aldila NV Hybrid shaft-stiff, and the 20 degree 3 with "SpeedRated 75" Nickent shaft.

Absolutely one of the best investments I've ever made in golf clubs. I was looking for something to fill the gap between my 3 wood and 7 wood, and could never find a 5 wood I cared much for. I took the Nickent two out and just rifled shot after shot with it. The thing I like most about it is that I can hit the club anywhere from about 210 to about 240 (at the max), and can pretty much dial up the distance I want. The 3 allows for a much wider variety of shots than with a standard 3 iron. I can hit it higher if I play it farther forward in my stance (like a wood) and hit it like a standard iron when I play it farther back. The other really nice thing is that I can draw the ball with both of them. For a guy that hits a high fade, a controlled draw is like the holy grail. I can do it with these Nickent's.

Thanks for the tip, I owe ya.
