Can CU win 10 games?
I don't know if I'd have guessed it at the beginning of the season, but it's a definite possibility. Their next three games (MU, ISU, & NU) are all very winnable. They should be the favorite in each. That would put them at 9-2 heading into the CCG against Tejas. While an upset of the Horns is pretty unlikely, the Buffs tend to play pretty well in bowl games. If they got the right opponent, I could see them finishing the year at 10-3 and ranked in the top 15. Not bad for a team that lost it's top WR & CB before the season even started...

Barring multiple injuries in the MU game, there is no way CU is a dog to ISU. Not saying there's no way they lose to ISU, but they will be the favorite.Adelpiero wrote:Colorado can easily go 1-2 or 0-3 in next 3 games. And CU will not be a favorite when the go to ISU. I see CU taking the north but they probably won't run the board, I look for them to win two of the next threee. That would still make a very respectable year for them. If they do happen to pull out ten wins the recruiting funk from the scandal could be over.

IMO CU is the best team in the North and the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Big 12. I would be shocked if anyone other than CU represents the North. Now I don't know if they will win out but I don't see anyone left on their schedule that is better than them.

CU is a mediocre team, for christs sake, because they are the best of the cripples, that equates to being good? what the fuck, people must be sinking to new lows when it comes to grading teams. There is noone in North, and outside of tech and tejas, noone i would consider good in the Big12 . All bad to mediocre.
I'm also unloading on MU+11.5 points. 2 simialr teams shouldn't be giving double digit spreads. CU and MU are very equal teams, and 11.5 is a gift!
CU goes 1-2 in last 3.(they will still win North, bad isn't it)

CU is mediocre? They're 6-2 and ranked 22nd in the BCS. Their two losses are to the #5 and #1b teams in the BCS. They've had two close games against a couple rival schools, CSU & KSU. Everyone else they've destroyed. They shut out NM St. & Ok. St. They crushed Kansas and a decent A&M team.Adelpiero wrote:CU is a mediocre team, for christs sake, because they are the best of the cripples, that equates to being good? what the fuck, people must be sinking to new lows when it comes to grading teams. What the hell has Taco Tech done to earn your seal of approval, besides lose to Tejas even worse than CU did? Their OOC schedule makes CU's look like ND's.
CU is a pretty good team. Probably 2nd best in the conf., although that ain't saying much. They will go 2-1 at worst. The only team that scares me is Nebraska, and that's just because they're Nebraska. I think they're finally starting to respect this rivalry again, having only beaten us once this millenium.

This is your validation that CU isn't mediocre? Well I would love to see your scale to determie a mediocre team.MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan wrote:

OK, here you go:
REASONS WHY CU isn't A MEDIOCRE TEAM:
CU almost beat Texas (I know this is a stretch but just go with me)
Ohio St almost beat Texas
Michigan St almost beat Ohio St
Ohio St barely beat Michigan St
Notre Dame almost beat Michigan St
Michigan St almost beat Michigan
Michigan almost beat Penn St
Penn St barely beat Northwestern
Northwestern barely beat Wisconsin
Wisconsin barely beat Minnesota
Minnesota barely beat Purdue
Purdue barely beat Arizona
Arizona barely beat Oregon St
Oregon St almost beat Arizona St (another reach I know)
Arizona St almost beat USC
So there, CU is almost as good as USC.
Hell, they should probably be ranked 2nd or 3rd in the BCS.

Mizzou's offense does well if you don't play gap responsibilty (see Cosgrove's defense) and pursue from everywhere. Play an extra safety and leave a linebacker on the sideline.
Me thinks CU will be far smarter than Cosgrove and be more like Kansas and Iowa St.
You know defensively sound.
CU will run early and often and exploit MU's front, then throw when you least expect it.
If MU wins I'd be surprised.
If CU covers the 11.5, I won't be as surprised.
Trust me, I've been plenty surprised as of late.

WTF are you talking about, man? It's not like I'm on here campaigning for a BCS berth. CU is a top 25 team. Last time I checked, that's usually an indicator that a team is pretty good. Are they an anomaly, or are there multiple teams in the top 25 that are mediocre?Sky wrote:OK, here you go:

6-2????
WHo the fuck have they beat???
the Texas game was close? When, during warmups? 200 yards of total offense, yeah, CU was on fire that day
MU had 300+ yards of offense against Tejas(most of it in 1st half), and even i wouldn;t be dumb enough to claim it was close. Fuck, please send some of the black koolaid your drinking.
A very bad KSU team rolled up 300+ yards on CU.
the big12 N is bad, top to bottom, NOONE in the conference is good!
Question, if MU wins, does that make them a good team now? a BCS team? a top25 team? Fuck NO. cripple beating another cripple!

Please point out where I ever said the CU/Texas game was close and I'll get that black kool-aid in the mail first thing tomorrow morning. I've said all along that CU is a decent team probably should be ranked around 16-18. If they were in the Big East they would be going to a BCS bowl game. Here is what I took away from the CU game. Their defense is very good they have linebackers, probably on par with Oklahoma. They have a very good QB, probably the best QB Texas has faced besides Taco Tech. Their running back is very good again probably on par with the kid from OSU and Taco Tech. (I consider AD injured).
CU is not a BCS team but they are pretty good they deserve the Cotton if they take care of business between now and the B12 championship game.

Nope.MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan wrote: Can CU win 10 games?
Props to ISU on the win and especially to that dude who straight up tackled Hugh Charles on the INT return. Not that it would've made a difference anyway, and not that CU didn't have a few calls go their way (especially that BS no call on ISU's TD in the 1st), but damn. Just damn.
I guess it wouldn't be an official CU season if they didn't piss down their legs against at least one inferior opponent.

I don't know if I'd call ISU an inferior team. They finished strong last year as well, and if Stevie Hicks had stayed healthy they are probably a 1-loss team at this point.MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan wrote:Nope.MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan wrote: Can CU win 10 games?

Dan McCarney is a good coach and Barney Cotton is showing that he deserved more time at Neb.

I don't know. I was at the game and I didn't see an inferior team playing Colorado. I saw two evenly matched teams playing each other straight up. A few defensive breaks by ISU was the difference in the game.
And I would also say Colorado had MORE than a few calls go there way. From the bad spots, to the 4th and inches Meyer clearly converted for a first down, the two fumbles that Colorado was ruled down and the one fumble where ISU was down but they ruled a fumble, and the aforementioned touchdown in the first quarter that they ruled wasn't a catch.
If Colorado hadn't had all that help, I'd agree with you that there was one inferior team on the field but it wasn't in cardinal and gold.
Anyway, CU is not going to lose to Nebraska next week and they get the honor of getting spanked by Texas for the Big 12 Championship this year.

Re: Can CU win 10 games?
Not to go m2 on you, but CU did outgain them 363-286. The difference in the game was the two 66 yard defensive TD returns. Take those away and even if those two drives stalled right there, that's well within Crosby's range.Danimal wrote:I don't know if I'd call ISU an inferior team. I just think, top to bottom, CU is a better team, talent-wise. Not by a vast margin, but if they played 10 times, I'm fairly confident CU would win 6 or 7 of them.
But it is what it is. ISU is a good team and came to play Saturday night. Scoreboard them. I hope they represent the conference well in their bowl game.

1. Bookies don't necessarily set the lines based on who they think is going to win, they set it on how they think people will bet. If more people thought like you did, the line would've moved in ISU's favor. But it stayed steady at 2 all week, which indicates that relatively equal amounts of people bet on CU & ISU. Thus, it doesn't really matter what the final score was, because Vegas raked on the juice. Not exactly indicaticve of heavy drug use.
2. The rule of thumb is that home field is worth about 3 points. Obviously, that will vary some based on where the game is played, e.g. home field at Tennessee, OSU, PSU, or Nebraska is worth more than home field at Temple or Ball St. But I hardly think Folsom Field is worth 6 points.
And when did I ever even imply that CU was going to (or even had a look at) a BCS game?
"Keys, woman!"
Turnovers are the biggest stat in football when it comes to winning and losing. CU/ISU was an extreme example of that. Hard to win when your offense is giving up scores.
I do see your point mike, CU does have more talent, I was just trying to make the point that ISU is no shmoe.
I think this game will make CU want to bludgeon Neb all the more, and if CU gets up I don't see us getting back in it.
Considering that winning the north just gets you an appointment to be embarrassed by Texas I don't see why ISU is pulling so hard for Neb to pull an upset in Boulder. Take your 8-3 and be happy, that would likely get you the Alamo.

No shit. If it didn't involve losing to Nebraska, I'd gladly take the out. I suppose I can kind of see why an eternally optimistic ISU fan might want to play Texas. They didn't get to play them in the regular season, and you want to see how you stack up to the conference elite. But having watched my team play them once, I'd rather not go through that again. As I said in another thread, I'm really starting to think CCGs are a crock of shit. Like a mini-BCS, it almost never accomplishes what it's designed to do - match up the two best teams in the conference for a title game.Danimal wrote: Considering that winning the north just gets you an appointment to be embarrassed by Texas I don't see why ISU is pulling so hard for Neb to pull an upset in Boulder. I'd like to say I saw this coming but I obviously didn't. This is easily Callahan's biggest game and quite possibly Barnett's biggest melt-down.
I can't believe that when his team was supposed to do its best, a freaking 15pt favorite, they do their worst and get flat-out bitched by a team that hasn't impressed all season.
Nice Jake-job Barnett. So much for any talk of jumping to Mizzou.

I can understand the ISU game, basically losing via points-off-turnovers, but to get bitchslapped in your own crib like this in a rivalry game is ridiculous.
I guess if your AD still wanted him the price would be right anyway. :D I think if Pinkel loses the bowl he is probably done but I'd say somebody along the lines of Patterson(if he doesn't go to KSU) would be a good hire. I'd say Price but from what I've hear he promised the UTEP AD three years when he got the job. Hill or Hawkins would also be worth looking at.
Sure is funny how things change. A few weeks ago CU was the dominant force in the north and Barnett was considered a promotion-candidate while Callahan was the goat of the north and considered a disappointment with just one more year to turn it around.
