I've been saying all season long that it doesn't matter that Texas is better than anybody USC will play this season in the regular season; running the table and winning each week scares me more than the prospect of one winner-takes-all BCS Title Game.
Going into ND scared me more than Texas will in Pasadena, where Carroll & Company will have a month to gear up for the annihilation of Texas.
Cal, in Strawberry Canyon, that one scared me. (At least earlier in the season, anyway..)
Fresno State, definitely.
Undefeated Oregon, in Autzen Stadium, big time.
ASU in a bloody hot day game in Tempe, back when they were still confident and clicking offensively on all cylinders...
Even UCLA, to some degree, but not so much.
All these games, these were games that I felt could be "trap" games that we could definitely lose. Every one of 'em: The other team's Super Bowl, their Program Maker.
The Rose Bowl? That'll be USC's Super Bowl. Finally the finish line will be in sight and the target will be on the other guy's backs and given a month to prepare for anybody in a Coronation Game such as that I've always been fully confident of another blow out win, if only they could get there...
Nothing's changed, in my mind. These regular season games are proving to be a bitch sometimes but if USC wins just one more of 'em they're going to wreak holy havoc on the poor saps standing in their way of that final win and that culminating title.
