I heard him too. He basically embarrassed himself. Rome called him on his claim that USC was playing great defense. Not that the argument can't be made, but Terry was not prepared to make it well at all.

Neither would you if you just lost control of your bladder while being interviewed on a national radio show.

Not an easy argument at this point in the season. Injuries have kicked us in the nuts on a scale I can't remember in previous years. Lotta kids playing right now with little or no previous experience. Hell, one of our DBs is a converted safety...and he's probably our best cover corner right now.

Playing two freshmen at LB right now, senior/captain out for year with medical reshirt.

Free safety fucked his shoulder up good against Fresno State but stayed in the game. Same with one of our ends.

I honestly don't know how Carroll sleeps at night.

SC definitely needs the two weeks to somewhat heal up before UCLA and, hopefully, the month before Texas...

How comical would it be if PSU stumbled into the Rose Bowl, after reading months of passionate debate on the potential USC/Texas game? All that fervor, all that angst...time wasted at work, time wasted at home, essays and stats and more and more passion and anger to prove the other person wrong, and it all amounts to wasted energy.

Yeah, probably not gonna happen...but if it DID....

I think a true Pac10/Big10 matchup in the Rose Bowl would be apoc.

It really would be. Of course, that would be the spin used by the BCSers..."look, we're bringing the tradition back to the bowls". Uhh, no. That's just how your computer slotted it.

Imagine the clusterfuck if both USC and Texas stumbled in their last game.

All those one loss teams vying for two slots and all the ensuing arguments and recriminations from everybody regarding the utter lack of worthiness of everybody else...

It'd be absolutely beautiful.

BTH, you may very well be correct but again, imagine the recriminations and the ill will such a scenario would create all across the nation...

Every single team would come under the gun for scheduling weakly, losing to the wrong team, losing late, losing at home, winning ugly and otherwise being wholly unworthy of being slotted ahead of MY TEAM, YOU KNOW NOTHING HOMO!!!

It'd be the necessary impetus to ditch the BCS system. The train wreck would be so total that there'd be no way to defend it anymore, not even by its most ardent supporters...

I'd forgotten about that.

Didn't feel right then. Wouldn't feel right now.

Whatevers I guess, contraversy is what makes this game the best.

Jimmy, no, it wouldn't feel right but then should we punish teams for scheduling good teams late and losing more than we punish teams for losing early to inferior teams?

One way or the other you still have to sift through a bunch of one loss teams to arrive at the two most worthy teams and it'd probably be difficult to decide that USC and Texas aren't still the two best teams...

There's simply no winning for the BCS in such a scenario and that's one of many reasons why it'd have to finally get blown up once the current contract expires in a few years...

I remember a lot of people bitching about OU still getting into the Sugar Bowl after the strong W posted by KSU. Imagine the reaction if it was SC. Yikes.

It will be interesting to see how people base their arguments, though. At the beginning of our run, a lot of SCfans (myself not included) bitched that it was how you were playing at the end of the season that mattered. Arguably, SC was playing some great ball going into the Orange Bowl where they beat Iowa. Same argument came up again the following year.

All we heard back was the notion you just raised- that it is the body of work that counts. Would be interesting to see how quickly the haters change their tune...

This game rules.

Quit yer fuggin cryin! We got 240lb 18 yr old freshmen on the d-line trying (without much luck) to fill the holes left by all of the starters out for the year and beyond. Middle LB is and has been out since Sooner game, starting Center out for year, starting receiver out for year, and we don't get every 5 star we wink at...

So quit yer fuggin cryin!!!

Texas isn't going to lose so get that notion out your head.

USC could, and if they do, LSU will/should be going to the MNC.

Is pontificating about scenarios that never materialize whilst giving reach arounds ALL that you guys do around here?
