may have been wrong. We all know the story. AOL killed off netscape after it got a huge settlement out of Microsoft. Then out of nowhere, Netscape released a new version based on Firefox. They only had a few people actually working on it but it was in fact a new release and then they updated that version so it would be based on firefox 1.0. Great. Well now, they are planning to release Netscape 8 (Beta) that will resist phishing techniques that have been bugging IE as of late. It will still be based on Firefox but this could certainly be an improvement. Something to look into when Netscape 8 Beta gets released on Feb 17th.

True, i'm not about to download it, but I do like that its there because of the market recognition. Remember that a lot of older folks actually started out with Netscape. They have no clue what firefox is, but they may be willing to give netscape a try because it was the first browser they ever used.
I'm excited by it. I was pissed the day AOL killed its Netscape arm, but I hope this will help firefox and mozilla gain market share.
