That was one of the dumbest posts I have ever seen anywhere on this board. The Rat Pack wrote:It's a complete joke that Detroit cancelled the game on account of a guy, who had documented heart troubles, falling to the floor.
Detroit should have forfeited the game and given the win to Nashville. I'm sure the Preds would have had no problem continuing.
The Fish is more than OK. He's probably embarassed that they cancelled.
Take into account that people die in this league quite often. When the little girl died...they didn't cancel. An 11 year old girl dying, due to actions from the ice, is a lot more traumatic than heart attack guy actually having a heart attack. Remember when the old guy keeled over into the Leafs bench? Dead on the spot. The other major sports would never have cancelled.
People die in this league quite often??? Got Link???? The girl who died did so later on at the hospital. In my lifetime watching hockey I've only heard of those two deaths you mention. In 27 years, that's not too bad. I don't know of, or remember any other players dying so it's not very often that deaths occur. I don't remember when the player died on the Leafs bench, in fact never even heard of that story.
I think it was a great idea the teams decided to cancel. Seeing someone get CPR on the ice, and attended to by the officials no less, would give me good reason to focus on how he's doing rather than the game at hand. They will reschedule for a later time of which you idiot fans who booed can still get into the game as long as you haven't thrown away your ticket stub just yet.
Here's hoping for a speedy and safe recovery for Fischer.
