Was Nick Saban an elite coach? Mack kicked his ass in the Cotton Bowl the year before he lead LSU to a National Title.

I would say that counts as both an elite coach and a pretty damn good team.

What about 2 wins over KSU, even Meds considers Snyder to be an elite coach. In fact Texas beat KSU the same year they beat OU for the Big 12 title.

Who the hell is irish fan to talk shit to Texas fan about big wins, your teams best win was a close loss to USC. You wouldn't be in a BCS bowl without that loss.

So you are saying a win would have kept them out of a BCS bowl?

Ahhh, just giving you shit. There is a lot of speculation about ND and whether they deserve to be there. IMHO, I think they are a good team but made it into the BCS based on their legacy. We won't know until Jan so any arguments on this subject will prove futile.

A tad pissy, aren't you Vito? I forgot about Saban. So 3 in 5 years. No, Snyder doesn't count, if you read my post. Elite coaches with elite talent. Michigan has elite talent, KSU had an elite coach.

Actually, without that loss we would be even a bigger shoe-in for the BCS. Because it probably would have been a win, if it were not a loss.

Ponder at your lesiure...

Besides, hey, I did offer Vito a Death Match in the Rose Bowl so if Texas won I wouldn't even be around anymore for your literary amusement.

He smartly declined. Or, rather, he tried to twist it into One Vito Equals The Entire USC Contingent.

So, yeah, he smartly declined.

Wow. Way to set yourself up for a win-win situation. If SC wins, we all get to hear about how right you were. If Texas wins, you won't be around to receive your rightful beatings. Deftly played on your part.

Does it not work out exactly the same for Vito???

My reason for offering that bet to Vito had nothing to do with not wanting to have to stick around if USC loses. It had everything to do with being very confident that USC would win. It had everything to do with not wanting to read any more juvenile name calling and otherwise insipid posts from one specific poster, Vito.

I simply see it as an opportunity to get him outta here. Most of the posts of his that I've read have been well beneath the quality and tenor exemplified by the majority of the members of this board.

If you wish to call me a liar then so be it but I think you've seen me on these boards long enough now to know that ain't me. I'll tell you exactly why I say or do what I say and do and you well know this.

I am really enjoying the confidence Texasfan exudes right now.

And also the foolish arrogance their players have shown in print.

I think it's great we're "overrated" for the fourth straight year going into our bowl game.

Jimmy, I'm tellin you, this is like deja vu all over again. Last year we were hearing the same crap. Big 12 school played much tougher schedule because they play in Big 12. Pac-10 is wek conference. USC is overrated. Trojans get all the calls....yada yada fuckin yada.

I'm content just to sit back and let Tex run his/her redneck mouth, and then sit back and look forward to watchin Seinfeld reruns around 7pm come 1/4/06.

USC is to football as God is to Earth's creator. Texas is doomed. There is no way they can possibly compete. SC rolls up 700+ yards of offense. Bush runs for 400 and passes for 300 as the sorry Longhorn defense can't figure out how to stop the half back pass run 12 times in a row. As a Texas fan I will get my will in order tomorrow because there is no chance for victory and surey I will leap to my depth after the debacle. Texas should go ahead and forfeit now. They are no match for the intensity of the SC football team or it's BB posters. How can a WAC- like team like Texas stay winthin 40pts, especially if the greatest teams ever like Fresno State and ND, couldn't do it. C'mon Vito lets make a suicide pact. Texas fans are doomed.

Oh yeah WTF is all this 3 titles in a row crap. I remember them winning last year, but I think LSU has some hardware from the previous year. Maybe it was a West Coast Rose Bowl consolation prize.

Young beats out Bush and Leinart for Maxwell Award

December 8, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Texas quarterback Vince Young won the Maxwell Award as the nation's top player, beating out fellow Heisman Trophy finalists Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart of Southern California.

Young leads the nation in passing efficiency with a 168.6 rating. He has passed for 2,769 yards and 26 touchdowns, and leads the Longhorns in rushing with 850 yards.
Young wins O'Brien Award as top passer

December 8, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Vince Young of Texas won the Davey O'Brien Award on Thursday night as the nation's top quarterback, beating out Southern California's Matt Leinart and Notre Dame's Brady Quinn.

Young leads the nation in passing efficiency with a 168.6 rating. He has passed for 2,769 yards and 26 touchdowns, and leads the Longhorns in rushing with 850 yards.

Jason White of Oklahoma won the O'Brien Award the past two seasons.

Young is the first Texas quarterback to win the award.
Huff becomes first Longhorn to win Thorpe Award

December 8, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Texas safety Michael Huff won the Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in the country on Thursday night.

Huff beat out Virginia Tech cornerback Jimmy Williams and Clemson cornerback Tye Hill to become the first Longhorns player to win the award.

Huff has 97 tackles and two interceptions for the second-ranked Longhorns. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior holds school records for most career interceptions returned for a touchdown with four and most touchdowns scored by a defensive player with five.

Auburn's Carlos Rogers won the award last season.

Nah. The former is a definite while the latter is a point of conjecture.
Texas is doomed. There is no way they can possibly compete.
Your candor is appreciated.
SC rolls up 700+ yards of offense.
Dunno 'bout 700 this go around but I'd bet on at least 500.
Bush runs for 400
Nah. He'll be too busy throwing halfback option TDs. Those things will cut into his rushing yardage.
and passes for 300 as the sorry Longhorn defense can't figure out how to stop the half back pass run 12 times in a row.
:makes that "you and me, you and me" gesture where I point at my eyes and then at yours and then back at my mine to indicate we're simpatico.:

Actually, that play will work pretty much any time USC runs it. What, are you not going to sell out on defense when Reggie gets the ball and heads toward the corner? Last time they ran that thing he nearly drop kicked the ball to Leinart and Leinart still had to time to call a fair catch...
As a Texas fan I will get my will in order tomorrow because there is no chance for victory and surey I will leap to my depth after the debacle.
Buck up, young'un. You've got still got those hot big haired Texas sluts.
Texas should go ahead and forfeit now.
Forfeit? Nah. There's a big conferencce payoff at stake.

That mercy rule they use in Little League though, you might wanna check and see if it can be used in a CF game.
They are no match for the intensity of the SC football team or it's BB posters.
Okay, now I'm getting all chubby and stuff.
How can a WAC- like team like Texas stay winthin 40pts, especially if the greatest teams ever like Fresno State and ND, couldn't do it.
That's a damn good question! You're kinda like Magellan that way. You're a forward fucking deep thinker, always pondering the imponderables, flipping the bird to the naysayers before winging that ship of yours off the edge of the earth and sallying forth anyway and shit.
C'mon Vito lets make a suicide pact. Texas fans are doomed.
Nah, it's the team that's doomed. You'll be fine, Longhorn Fan. You'll still have your pick 'em up truck.
Oh yeah WTF is all this 3 titles in a row crap.
That one's already been settled on this board. It's actually 1.5, and counting.
I remember them winning last year, but I think LSU has some hardware from the previous year. Maybe it was a West Coast Rose Bowl consolation prize.
Nah. Your memory is correct, sorta. We agreed here that LSU has that other .5....

Not that I don't enjoy the thread and all...but I just want to caution everyone...

remember a LONG Time AGO in a Galaxy Far, Far, Away an Evil Empire known as Miami U (or The U) ruled the CF landscape. The Empire was coming off an impressive 2 year run anal raping FLA in the Sugar Bowl and Ass Raping Nebraska for a National Title in 2001. While during the 2002 season the Empire continued to bash the Rebellion in college football. All that was left up to a sweater vested warrior, a braniac QB, a mercurial RB, and a stiffling defense. The rebels of tOSU had no business knocking on the Empires door and asking if they could play a game of football. Even the Galactic Senate couldn't contain their laughter as the Oddsmakers had the Empire favored by 2 TD's...some of the Empire went so far as to say they would have to change the lights in the Scoreboard. Well the merry, scrappy band of rebels came to the desert and of course the mercurial RB threw a tantrum, the sweater Vested Warrior stayed the course and the scrappy band of rebels wound up beating the Empire in an all-time classic game. The Empire cried foul, and say what you want...but the Empire was physically beaten up after that game and the scrappy bunch walked away with the hardware...

the moral? who the fuck knows...I just thought I'd throw in my $.02...by the way all 11 defensive guys from that 2002 tOSU team I believe are starting or getting significant playing time in the NFL...(well except for Dustin Fox who is hurt)...

Well, if the Empire manages to get jobbed on a bad call again and if their best player manages to blow up his knee in the middle of the game again...

I was just trying to point out the fact that no one gave tOSU a chance...

Van...this has been debated round and round but that call was legit and there was a call in regulation where Gamble was ruled OB on a 3rd and 6 catch that would have given tOSU a first down and iced the game...replays clearly showed Gamble in bounds...funny how everyone conveniently misses that...

but you are right that was 2002 and FWIW I was just trying to add a little humor to the post...not my fault if you didn't get it... :D
