Isn't it amazing

Post by Jimmy Medalions »

That in a deep year like this, a talent like Vince Young can be overlooked for an award like the Heisman, and in other years a total zero like Eric Crouch can win it...

Rack Reggie, and props to Vince Young on a great season.

As MGO said recently...back to the other thread...

Crouch was a pretty damn good option QB, Meds.
Option? Is that some SEC/Division II terminology?

Meds, like other USC fans only rates the value of a college player by their NFL career.

Crouch was a hell of a QB at Nebraska, he was no Turner Gil or Tommie Frazier but those are the only two guys I would rank ahead of him.

congrats to Bush, he had a hell of a year, and Meds is right, too bad for Young that he had such a great year only to be topped by Bush.

Thats college football it has nothing to do with greatness in comparison to the past, but rather greatness in comparison to everyone else around you.

Rack Bush. Very deserving, no doubt. Too bad he'll be playing for a JV Pro team like my Texans next year.

All we need is a line, a few LB's, a TE, a new General Manager, a new coaching staff, a d-line, and we will be set. The 2 positions we need to least help are RB and QB. So, let's draft the Heisman winner.

Congrats to Bush. He had a great season. It will be tough on Vince next year with the Notre Dame network sucking Brady Quinn's dick every Saturday. Hopefully he can play into the 4th quarter and pad his stats so that the voters are impressed.

Why is it every time I see a reference to the Texans I envision myself beating the shit out of Bud Adams?

Crouch didn't have the line or the I-back to help him out that Frazier and Gill had. He was far from the best heisman guy but he did carry his offense on his back, more than Weinke, White, or Torretta had to. Hell all Torretta did was chuck it far and high then wait for his wr to make a play.

I still say that Michigan defense would have crushed Nebraska in a bowl game. Since we exclude undefeated teams all the time now, we may as well exclude NU in 1997. The only reason they got any votes is because they went on TV and begged for votes(please nebraska fans, don't say they didn't). Hell, Osborne had to retire to get sympathy votes.

ABC sucking their dicks to boost ratings for their bowl game didn't hurt them, either.

Where the hell did this come from? Not that I don't agree, but I believe Scott Frost was the Nebraska QB back then.

How the hell did this get about Neb in 97? Crouch didn't even play that year.

We didn't beg for votes, we asked the coaches to vote for the team they wouldn't want to play if their job was on the line. They did. Mich couldn't stone WSU but they could stone us? Ya right. We had a pretty damn good D as well, Tenn couldn't do jack til we brought in our subs at the end. Tenn was generally considered better than Wazzu but we handled our game considerably easier than Mich, I'd say that helped more than any "begging" we did.

Just because other teams got screwed Neb should as well? That is bullshit. If I had my way the 94 PSU team would have gotten a share and the 04 Auburn team would have gotten one as well but unfortunately I don't get a vote. I'm sorry those other teams got hosed but that doesn't mean Neb should have been also.

Yes...yes.....but for some reason I remember Nebraska players and coaches literally....BEGGING for votes on my television set. Yeah, real sportsmanlike there, eh?

Crouch, Frost....there's a difference?

I know.....but historically speaking.....I couldn't resist.

Nebraska has some of the best fans around. But that was pretty pathetic. Hell, TO even retired to get some of his buddies votes.

Oh, you beat Peyton "big game" Manning? My bad.......that's pretty funny. I think UF torched Tenn that year. I think we were up 31-0 at the half or something. Big deal.

This is where I might have to agree with what you say for the most part.....I guess I didn't like the beggars of Nebraska. Trying to influence voting anywhere besides on the field is bush-league and you know it. WOuld you agree?

How about getting 91.7 of the votes??????

Young shouldn't have even been invited. He wasn't even a blip on the radar. No offense, but its not it was close or even kinda close.

The guy had two of the top 10 highlight plays that year: a 94-yard scramble for a TD and a pass-back reverse to him against OU for a TD. That alone will get your a Heisman. Hey, it worked for Charles Woodsen!
