At least Cal brought an offense and scored some points. What a fraud the #2 PAC 10 teams continues to be.

Yeah, nice job Oregon, struggle against a below-average OU team. The Pac10 is just fucking awesome. Props to OU and the last minute interception.

Why are you passing in the last minute when you are already in FG range?

Great call OU and nice unis you bunch of punks.

Ya considering they were already in position to tie the game there was no need to be so reckless with the ball, don't know what Leaf was doing. Of course you go for the win but in the position they were in taking care of the ball should have been first priority.

Exactly.

Though this game had the feel of some sort of made-for-ESPN horseshit FIXED, yet meaningless contest with no implications whatsoever, given that it obviously wasn't a playoff game ('sup Van), one has to wonder if Oregon would have gone for the field goal if -- gasp God and the BCS forgive me -- this actually was a playoff game.

Nonetheless, Oregon put itself in a hole by not being able to do shit in the second half until about 4 mins left in the game. Too bad OU spoiled ESPN's finish. Poooor ESPN.

Nice vaunted offensive fireworks, PAC 10.

Btw, how much $$ did KC Scott lose on the "guaranteed lock?"

In fairness, I think the one-month delay between the end of the regular season and bowl season is a huge equalizer. Then again, what else can you do? Academics comes first.

In the regular season, on a neutral field, I don't think Oregon has a problem with that matchup. But it didn't work out for them last night.

Having said all of that, that game certainly takes a little bit of the steam out of Oregon's "we wuz robbed by the BCS" argument.

Un fucking real.

Oregon lost that game on the O-line. The score made it look much closer than it was.

I saw a couple Sooner games this year and they looked like shit vs. UCLA and Texas.

Hell, Baylor took them to OT.

Also, in all fairness, just like Georgia without Shockley and like LSU's about to experience without Russell, hey, Oregon was playing with their backup QB(s) ands they were both horrible.

Oregon got zero offenssive production from their QBs.

Still, yep, this is another huge "black guy" for the Pac 10's #2...

Congrats to Stoops. He's too good of a coach to get saddled with a rep as a bowl game flop, which he was coming close to getting had he gotten smoked in this one too...

The Oregon fans have been saying that Dixon is the second coming of Christ, if not atleast the Second coming of Michael Vick/ Vince Young. Now tey are horrible?

Dixon was running thie same offense they he did for the last three games of the season racking up 300+ yards a game.

OU's Defense just shut them down. Clemmons commented during the game that it wouldn't matter if he was in that the Oline couldn't keep us out of the backfield long enough for anyone to make something happen.

I don't think this loss would have done that. Unlike the last two seasons, people didn't expect all that much out of Oklahoma this year. I think most people are looking at this one like Oklahoma won one they weren't expected to win.

My god, you take things as literally as a chick does...

What did you expect him to say??? My backups only have a few games experience, and they suck? I was one of the top qb's in the country and would have moved the ball up and down the field due to my skills and experience???

SCS, second coming of Christ or not ask the average Oregen fan whether they'd rather have their long time starter or Dixon (much less Leaf) in there leading into this game and I can pretty much guarantee you they all would've wanted their starter at the controls....

And I find it really really really strange when I read about all of this "Oregon bitching about getting jilted out of the BCS." The only place I've really ever heard that is on this board, for the most part. On local boards, and amongst my plethora of Duckfan friends, I mostly heard "Oh well, there were 3 equally deserving teams, but the Ducks played Montana, so we really can't bitch too much."

But it's been nice of y'all to put words in the mouths of Ducksfans and their players. Sure, there may have been some bitching, don't get me wrong, but to listen to you guys tell it, it was some plague on the local landscape, which really couldn't be any further from the truth....just so's you know's.

And OU sure wasn't playing like an unranked team by the end of the season, to be certain.

We would have wanted Clemens, but probably not for the reasons you think.

You really need to understand how Ducksfan, and Oregonians in general are wired --

We would have preferred Clemens because he's from Oregon.

Grammar smack? :meds: And truth be told, I've seen the word academics used in the singular as well as the plural.

Even if you're technically correct, I'm hardly the first person to use academics in the singular. Word meanings eventually come to mean what they are used to mean; case in point, "toward" and "towards" once had different meanings, they now have the same meaning (at least one definition).

And Oregon fan running education smack on ND is beyond laughable. Check the respective U.S. News and World Report rankings on the two schools.

You're correct. My mistake. The irony is that I've always agreed with you regarding the LSU-OU game. When I watched that game I was thinking, hey, LSU really didn't beat OU all that handily. Neither team did all that much offensively and OU was still in with a chance to win late.

My apologies.

They lost on the last play of the game despite having horrible play at the QB position all game long. Since their D did a good enough job to win that game it's reasonable to assume that had they gotten even a little bit of production from their QB they might've won that game and it's definitely reasonable to assume that their long time starting QB would've done a much better job than the two hugely ineffective back ups.

The simple fact that they split time between two back ups is a huge difference vs the smoothness they had on offense back when their starter was rolling along...

Hardly. Their defensive line trounced your offensive line just about as badly.

With even a decent level of production at the QB position Oregon is in a much better position to win and their long time starter Clemmons gives Oregon a much better shot at that than the Dixon/Leaf combo. There's no getting around this.

Grammar/spelling smack is usually the weakest form of smack there is. The only exception is when the errors are so egregious that the post is unintelligible. Using the word "academics" in the singular rather than in the plural does not fit that bill.

You certainly have the right to disagree with US News' college rankings, but it would be inaccurate to say that they don't carry any weight. For better or for worse, that is the best-known ranking system for higher education in the country.

Come correct. One of the reasons this little community exists, and is still strong, is that many of us tired of the homerboards years ago. It's in the nature of the fanbase of a one-loss team to complain about whatever matchup short of the title game is accorded their team. I know this at least as well as Duckfan this year.

Perhaps the screams have been less loud this year, but there has been plenty of talk about Oregon getting the BCS snub - here, on the (usually deplorable) sports networks, and on the Scout and Rivals -type boards.

I'm sure we'll be revisiting this topic on Tuesday night...

Did YOU watch the game?

I hate to try and break through the myopia, but OU's OLine didn't just take a beating, they took a MAJOR asskicking for most of the game. Just not quite as bad an asskicking as Oregon's OLine took. To say otherwise would not anly be foolish, but a flat-out lie.

And wow, I didn't realize posting less than a dozen words in regards to grammar could still inspire a full-on meltdown. Jeebus, get over it. If you don't like it, than feel free to not be an illiterate fuckwit, especially not one with a reference to an institute of higher learning in your nic...seriously, it makes you look like a tard -- bragging about being a college grad, and writing at an elementary school level. I barely made it through high school, much less a major university, yet by showing up to K-6 grades, I manage to write in proper English more often than not, so why is it so fucking tough for an alleged graduate of an allged institute of higher learning? Seriously, it makes both you and any professor who gave you a passing grade look like complete retards...seriously.

I was just poking you with a stick, Terry. Didn't realize you'd look straight past the obvious SEC smack (using the Bowl checks to build more RV parking at the stadiums again this year, SEC?), and get all defensive.

Holy smokes you freaking tards, it was MY TEAM that got whooped last night...I should be the one melting here...but pointing out your lack of attendence of English class in grade school, and you clowns steal all the heat and end up in a puddle on the floor, making it impossible for me to have a decent meltdown.

Seriously, get over it, tards. And if you're SO proud of your college, then at least give them enough respect to mix in a spellcheck, or something. "I'm a Sooner, and I wouldn't know a properly punctuated sentence if I saw one, and third-graders could proofread my words and run out of red ink...GO SOONERS!!!!"...c'man, dude. Think about that shit, and hang your head in shame. Shoot the messenger all you like, but I'M not the one claiming to be a college grad with no concept of the English language. The problem is with YOU, not me...no matter how much you bitch, cry, and accuse me of...whatever it is you're accusing me of.

Oh, and BTW, SCS -- EVERY SINGLE sentence you posted in your defense contained at least one grammatical or punctuation error...since you had no idea. Rather than pimp OU on the internet, your time would be better spent going to Norman and demanding you or your parents' money back, cause they 'done failed you...BADLY.

Once again, some of you are bound and determined to shoot the messenger, but it would be a lot easier to decipher your takes if we could all agree on one language, and then maybe those who don't speak Random-Key-ese can make sense of your posts. I propose we use English as this universal language....which of course means that some of you "college grads" will need to learn it.

And remember, I posted one line...YOU guys derailed this to a discussion of grammarsmack...but once again, feel free to point the gun at the messenger, rather than the culprit.

Don't like the grammarsmack? Then I suggest you speak English, motherfuckers. It's not that tough -- elementary school kids do it all the time, and they appear to have BODE on many of you.

I'd probably offer more PSU commentary, but I have a hunch it would lead back to that Bowl-season keyword, "Playoff."

PSU should be battling for more than the honor of saying "WOOHOO, we're #2!" But, in the current setup, snubbing USC or Texas would be completely unjustified, obviously. I think PSU could give either of those teams a game, though(although I saw very little PSU this season, to be honest).

Kind of bring the word "playoff" to the forefront...AGAIN. I doubt PSU would win out in a playoff, but I think they should have had a chance to give it a whirl.

Then again, as much as it's been covered, all playoff takes should be followed with the "Sin, Marcus Allen" line.

I'm trying my best. It was too good of a game, despite the disappointing result, to go into full-melt mode. It's more of a "we'll get 'em next year" mode for now.
