I have never enjoyed a season as much as I have this year. I think mainly b/c I had more time on the weekend, had the GAMEPLAN and was able to watch football all day every Saturday. FSU had me on a rollercoaster ride all season but I love this team no matter what. I just enjoy the happiness they bring me every fall. There were some tremendous games that were played that didnt involve FSU, but which I was totally engrossed.

USC/UT

FSU against Miami and Penn State almost gave me a heart attack and left me emotionally drained.

This is the first year that I can remember that the 3 pre-season Heisman favs lived up to the hype and had fabulous seasons.

It was great to see ND and Penn State come back to the forefront. Its good for CFB for these two programs to have successful seasons.

In all, just a wonderful season that was entertaining and fun to watch. Unless you are a fan of CFB as a whole I dont think you quite experience the pageantry that exists every Saturday from late August to early January. If you root for one team and dont watch any of the other games, I think you are missing out.

overall, it was a good season. wmu football rebounded to be the best mac team in the state while scu-m fell flat on its face.

and yes, cfb kicks the nfl in the nuts, every time.

We're still the best program in the nation right now, with the most upside.

We simply blew our chance at history, is all.

I'm not sure if I've ever spent as much time screaming at a television as I did during this CFB season.

So many teams are building good programs right now, it's sick. Hell, even the shit....errr, mid-majors are starting to bring it. Gone are the days when the Fresnos and Boises walk through their seasons. Speaking of which, mark my words -- Hawaii will be bringing some lumber in the next few years. Junebug got tired of watching all of the local talent heading for the PAC10, and if he can use their locale and the fact that both the head coach and D coordinator are well-known NFL names, they may be on to something. The run-and-shoot will never get old for me(invented/innovated at my high school, thank you very much).

But overall, it just seems like the overall quality of CFB just keeps getting better and better. Championship games being no exception.

Now, if only we could prevent CF from becoming irrelevant like NCAA hoops has become, what with nearly all the best underclassmen leaving early (or skipping college entirely) and severely watering down the game...

In year's past, VY, Reggie and Lendale all return for their senior season and it's fucking war.

Thoughts...

Last night,

-Vince Young rules. I think he should cash out now and take the $$$. As soon as they figure out what position to play him at in the NFL, he will have impact.

-The Texas dancers with the chaps on and the Burnt Orange Buttocks' sticking out made the game worthwhile no matter what the product on the field looked like.

-The Texas band with their "Annie Get Your Gun" uni's were laughable. Not that all band uni's don't suck, but damn!

-Mack Brown exudes class. Propping SC on the Championship podium instead of pointing fingers and "I told ya so'ing" was solid.

-The BCS lucked out. It still sucks. Imagine a playoff leading up to last nights title game...epic!!

-Leinhart gets a pass from me on the "we're still the better team" comment. I want my guys thinking that way. Hell I know my Wolverines are better than at least 3 of the teams we lost to

.

-Now that SC lost, can we get back to the reality that they only won 1 NC? Not giving LSU their due is just plain classless.

-I'm glad VY went off. Now we can stop watching the highlights of him torching UM's defense.

USC won two consecutive AP national championships and the AP title existed as the most coveted title long before the BCS and it'll still be recognized long after the BCS dies its it'll never be soon enough death.

No need to dredge this one up again, not now.

They didn't seem to show the USC song girls enough last night...but the Texas gals are always strong as well.

Yes, the BCS lucked out this year. I don't think there's much doubt about what two teams were supposed to be in the title game. In a playoff, I wouldn't have been shocked if those two held serve and met in the finals. You won this round, BCS, but you haven't won the fight! :twisted:

Regarding the comment made my Mack Brown last night about Texas high school football. Wow, look at the final AP Poll:

1. Texas
2. USC
3. Penn State
4. Ohio State

Those teams represent four of the five hottest recruiting states in CFB. Unbelievable. And to think UT beat two of those teams in their own state. Rack the 'Horns.

I was always of the contention that Nebraska fucked up by not looking at RR for their HC position rather than Callahan. He's shown that he can malleate an offense given the type of talent on the team. Further, he's also proven he can implement a running style offense that flat out kicks ass... sound familiar NU?

You mean to imply that he DIDN'T ever use the locale and his experience to lure recruits? I think not.

It will alwyas be an uphill climb for Hawaii BECAUSE of their locale anyways. Sure is paradise, but it's also a looong way from home.

WVU is certainly going to be the team to beat in the Big East next season, but they do have to play Louisville in Louisville. Their path to the BCS will be determined in that game.

We didn't do a half bad job in slowing down their offense. We held Slaton to 80 + yards and one of his first ones was over 40. White broke 2 long runs on us as well. If we only had an offense it would have been a tight game.

No, not at all.

As you're well aware, building a program is a long-term proposition. I was merely pointing out that he does a better job of it than his predecessors(" Jones and his staff have also had success in recruiting the local talent, a missing element in years past." -- UH athletics site), and hiring Glanville gives them a 1-2 punch of familiar names(and who knows, they may eventually limit an opponent's scoring drive to a FG one of these days).

And if all other factors were equal, ie potentail for winning, potential for national exposure, potential to be touted by NFL recruiters...if all of these were equal(which is a long way down the road), there would be no debate in my mind where I'd want to live for the next 4 years. Hmm...Pennsylvania? Columbus? The ghettos of LA? Or freaking Hawaii, since I'm not paying for housing...tough call, there.

But mostly, I was just pimping my man Junebug. A God of football around these parts, or at least my little parts of these parts.

After seeing the BCS this year....

A 8 team playoff wouldve been epic.

ND and OSU already prove they could hang with the two "champs". And I know the rest of the four would play all out.

Vince has reaffirmed he is coming back, if Blalock comes back as well Texas will lose 3 on offense and 4 on defense. Texas is set to make this back to back.

Interesting point on power football, 88. After watching the tiny linebackers Tuberville loves to recruit getting flat handled by the big, overloaded Wisconsin run sets...you may be onto something. I think the better teams in the future will have to mix and match their size and speed a little better. The speed speed and more speed philosophy can certainly be countered.
