Careful, the aggies at Texags.com will brand you a 2%er. I hear everyone who buys that shirt ain't a real aggie.

So the recent lack of success has led Aggie Fan to root vicariously through Texas....kinda sad, really.

At the end of the day, they're all Texans.

I've always struggled with the idea of an in-state rival. Obviously, it's a moot point for me because Ohio State hasn't been beaten by an in-state school in forever..... but even under different circumstances, it would really be hard for me to "hate" another Ohio school.

Was listening to, I belive Colin Cowherd, on ESPN Radio a couple months ago. He had a segment where he was asking people to call in and give him an honest answer to the question "If you could go back and do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you change your school affiliation and to who?"

Most of the callers were Aggies saying they would change to Longhorns under that scenario. It was sickening.

I wanted Texas to win because of the Big XII but mostly just to shut Johnny Come Lately SCFan's piehole as well as the SuCkfest from ESCN.

I can already see t-sip fan getting the big head and I'm in Indiana now. OUFan did it in 2000-2001, but they've humbled a bit since. Honestly, in the last 10 years, the only team's fans I saw win with class and not be fucking arrogant to the point of me puking is Ohio St.

Great way of stating it, all the U$C hype was absurd.

Thanks for that. Growing up in Ohio, I was immune to the widespread hate for Ohio State. It wasn't until I moved away did I realize how many people hated tOSU. But thanks for that, we all have our bad fans but I hope overall we had a little class.

You just don't have the experience to understand.

Believe me, being a Spartan fan (and living in the Ann Arbor area), it's pretty fucking easy. Besides, you don't have anyone worthy enough to hate. Kent St, Ohio, Akron, Toledo, BGSU, Miami (OH)...all lower tier teams.

Yeah, it was annoying, but I really didn't have a problem with all the SC hype leading up to the Texas game. They deserved it. It's not like this was a team that snuck up on people, stole a title, and fell flat on their face the following season. They won a ridiculous number of games in a row, and two straight titles (or 1.5 depending on how you look at it).

Looking back at their season now though, I do think SC was a bit of a victim of their own success. All everyone talked about was their winning streak so much that nobody noticed, or refused to recognize the flaws in their team. SC did show flaws all season long, but it went unmentioned because afterall, they were winning their games. They finally ran into a team in Texas who was good enough to expose those flaws for everyone to see.

boo-fooken-hoo. actually, i totally understand why ppl can hate michigan, especially locally. that whole "you must not have gotten in" attitude is ebarrassing, especially since most ppl who rock that attitude never went to university.

i tend to rest most of a loss' fault on michigan not b/c i think they're far superior to everyone else and should never lose, but b/c i'm not really interested in other teams. i don't really care that nebraska won the alamo bowl, but i'm pissed that michigan lost. i think that sort of attitude can be mistaken as arrogance, even though it really means that i derive my joy/anguish from how well my team performs rather than if another wins/loses. but in-state schools: i actually root for msu when they're not playing um, unless um needs a state loss, which is a rare occurence. i suppose i'm not good at hating.

True. I was actually editing my post as you were typing. After thinking about it.... I could see myself hating, say, the UC Bearcats, if they had a football program on par with a reasonably competitive "little brother" like Michigan State, Oklahoma State or aTm.

Same here, as did many of my OU alum co-workers. Many also wanted to see OU's streak remain.

actually, you won't hate them till the first time they beat you and then talk shit like it's a regular occurrence. you'll beat them four out of every five games and their fans will wanker on about "i don't understand why they think they're so much better." <----- sounds like next year's um/osu.

rooting for a mac school is like having a favorite minor league team. i would think most kent, akron, ohio, etc. fans are primarily osu fans. i love eastern michigan, but graduating from there isn't enough for a shift in my rooting allegiances. i'd love to see emu fb beat a team like umich, but i'm in a comfortable rooting position since that's just not going to happen.

actually, i think i've mentioned this before, but emu is a funny place during um/osu and um/msu weeks. they offer in-state tuition to ohio residents, so while the fb team is off trying to upset toledo, most fans are in their dorms watching abc.

Bradlee has got a radio show gig with Irv and Joe on 950 that is sickening. also, interview with BVP last week post-game: BVP says: "i'm not a QB that worries about stats and my numbers but just getting the win. that's the way i've always been". and then spends the rest of the interview talking about why his stats weren't as good as they should have been. his radio show is unlistenable....scary thing is i think he's being groomed to be a Denver sports media personality. he talks about himself a lot: about being "a competitor, and his "intensity". it's awful.

As with tOSU, I'm just guessing that it's a little different when the in-state rival doesn't play in the same conference...just a guess, though.

No problem hating state whatsoever. Go to a game in EL donning UM regalia, mind your business, cheer for your team, you will leave hating everything green and white. I can even buy any green clothes, hell I don't water my lawn.

I'm not trying to complain, it's just that I grew up a Spartan Fan, so I got on board with the whole "you're not supposed to like the rival" thing...you know, standard operating fan procedure, and all. And it just stuck.

My dislike for Michigan has much more to do with the actual teams that take the field than the fans/students/alums. One of my best friends is a Michigan grad...but that's kinda misleading because she couldn't care less about football. In fact, I've only ever met one person who would vocally express that whole "I'm better than you" attitudeh, but on the whole, Michigan peeps are ok folks. On the whole, I do think they're an arrogant sect, but A) I don't blame them for that and B) if they keep it to themselves and show some tact like most people then more power to them and their giant egos.

WORST move ever. Some of the biggest dipshits I ever met while at Eastern were from Ohio. Everytime my doormmates and I ran into a massive, massive tool, it was no wonder they were ALWAYS from Ohio. Every fucking time.

Being in the same conference certainly adds to the intensity of any rivalry, just because there's that much more on the line. But CU/CSU has become a pretty intense rivalry in its own right lately. The games have been really competitive for the most part since they started playing it at Mile High. CSU fans really hate CU, but CU fans obviously care more about beating Nebraska.

CU's in the middle of a weird rivalry chain. Wyoming considers CSU their chief rival, who consider CU their chief rival, who consider Nebraska their chief rival, who consider Oklahoma their chief rival, who consider Texas their chief rival. At one point you could've probably extended it to A&M, but I think most Texas fans would rather beat OU these days.

The bandaids are supposed to mean that the horn-emblem was just taped-on, temporary.

Of course it was all permanent emblem but the idea was that they were only horns-fans for that day.

I wish Nebraska had more than one Div1 football team but it will likely never happen. I do like to see the Creighton teams do well though in basketball, baseball, etc. Even though I'm a NU alum I wouldn't want Altman coaching there instead. Basketball is what Creighton has(also good at soccer but I don't really care), I'd hate to see them lose their one good sport.
