11-5 and division title ain't bad for the kid's first full year under center. He's got a much better chance of winning a Super Bowl than his brother. If only because he won't have to see Belichick every post season.

He can thank Tiki for 11-5 and a division title...BSmack wrote:11-5 and division title ain't bad for the kid's first full year under center. He's got a much better chance of winning a Super Bowl than his brother. If only because he won't have to see Belichick every post season.

Lame argument, the guy's a second year player, he'll be fine down the road.

Dio....realize Boltfan hates Eli..nothing personal..wait, it is personal. I don't doubt he'll find some modicum of success in the NFL, he has good dioGENES.
You're WAY off on Brees! the guy is bright, has improved his arm strength and accuracy, and is a fierce competitor. He got hurt diving into a sea of 300 lb. lineman trying to recover a fumble.
You are right about a second year QB, hard to compare with a veteran ( Roethlisberger notwithstanding). However, I'll tak Brees 89+ QB rating over Eli's 75 http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFL/PRAT/2005/regular

A few weeks ago I thought for sure Brees would remain a Charger, now after his injury I question whether that is still true. The injury puts the Chargers in a tough spot, sign Brees long term which I doubt they'll do now because of the uncertainty, or franchise him again (@ 9 million) with the hope he can return to his previous level of proficiency and a goal of signing him long term the year after.
If the Chargers do decide to go with Rivers instead, his learning curve next season could mean another season missing the playoffs. Of course if Brees is franchised and doesn’t recover quickly, Rivers will end up starting anyway.
The only thing for sure is Drew's injury definitely screws San Diego's QB certainty over. Despite an improved team, this off season’s decision making isn’t any easier for GM AJ Smith.
Right now I would guess there is a 60-70% chance the Chargers will franchise Brees again.

Can't argue Joe. Surgery was a "success" and they say Brees will be throwing in 4 months, but who knows what he'll have left.. I've had 3 surgeries on my right shoulder and it's still total garb-bage. I can't pick my nose without pain.

Realize I live in San Diego, I'm quite aware of this.ChargerMike wrote:Diogenes wrote:And Brees can thank LT for still having a job.ChargerMike wrote:

Of course your takeless fellow Boltfan in PB claimed it was all in my head somehow, glad to have the confirmation.
Brees is average, not great but not bad, where your offense is in need is a #2 wideout to go with McCardell.
That and get some secondary help, and I might have to stick to mocking the Chiefs next season.
Cards are still going to beat your ass next season.
If they don't lead the league in injuries again, that is.

Give him a break Trev, he's at least 40 years older than Drew. I'm sure Drew will be able to pick his nose pain free.trev wrote:Wuss, much?ChargerMike wrote: I can't pick my nose without pain.
