Dear Colt fan and Shine,

this game is going to be a lot different. Big Ben is not just coming off of injury, so he'll be sharper. Also, a healthy Marvel Smith will make a huge difference for the OL. Expect to see Bettis earlier than in recent games.

After giving up the early strike to Harrison, the Pittsburgh D played pretty well in the last game. If the Steeler offense had been a bit more productive, then the outcome would have been a lot closer. I think that will happen in this game. When the Colt D is gassed in the 4th, the Steelers will start mauling them with Bettis.

During the bye week, I have no doubt Peyton did not sleep and watched countless film on Pitts and Cinci. I doubt the dude has done nothign else but watch tape on Pitts and will find something he can exploit. He is the smartest player in the league and will not let Pitts be a road block in his pursuit to bitch slapping the Patriots the following week.

Is it me or does this season for Peyton remind you of Steve Young and the 49ers back in '94. For a couple of years they were great but always got bitched by the Cowboys in the NFC title game. They got Dallas at home that year, showed them who's boss and finally got Young his ring. Reminds me of this years Colts w/ then finally getting NE at home.

This game won't be close.

Indy's overall team spead is too much for relatively 'slow' Pittsburgh team to deal with, particularly on an indoor track.
The Colts are well rested.

It'll be similar to their regular season game, which the Colts won by 19.

Indy is overated, they mopped up on absolutely piss poor teams on their schedule this year, and were lucky to catch Pittsburgh and New England when they were banged up. Their high powered offense has pretty taken almost a month off from real game action, they come out a little flat. No score but Steelers over the Colts.

The other shoe is falling for the Colts. Sure, they won the regular season crown, like USC did. The Bristol housefraus are embroidering "2005 Super Bowl Winners" onto their quilts. Now, they have to do some real work, and I don't think they have it in them.

I hope we see a much better game and I would be concerned for the PIT secondary but something tells me Indy is gonna come out flat.

Bye week does nto mean rust- see Philly in the first playoff game after 3 week soff last year. Good teams are good teams and don't let rust be a major factor.

Peyton has had tons of time study Pitt's D, they will attack that suspect secondary, and let James pick up alot of yards (even if they are cheap according to Mr. Porter) when they try to compensate for the pass. I expect to see alot of Bettis b/c Parker is the type of RB that Indy's small, quick gang tackling D is set to handle. I think the game will be closer than last time- but the crowd is going to be a big factor throwing off Pitt's O and Indy's D will jump out early forcing Pitt to abandon the running game.

Steelers - a little

Don't have an exact score in mind, but I can't see the Colts losing their first game. I want Pittsburgh to win real bad though.

As long as Indy sticks to the recipe they've been using most of the year, a balanced offense, I think they'll win it all.

If for whatever reason Peyton thinks he needs to carry the team, the Colts will be in trouble though.

Vs Pittsburgh CB's, it won't be this week........

Who'd they play? Minnesota?

I lost plenty of money betting that "rest" factor before and am just speaking from some miserable experinces.

This year for example.

J-Ville lost to STL after a bye.

Reid sat them the last two weeks of the season and the bye week once they locked up home field throughout. Alot of media said it was mistake... I stand by my statement- they are professionals- with an Offense like Indy- I don't think it will matter much.

Indy should throw at will against a above avg Steeler secondary.They have trouble with the deep ball, Manning loves to throw it! They can;t afford to cover Harrison with double coverage, wayne will beat them. As much as i would like to see Steelers win, don't see it happening!

My one overiding factor for the Steelers chance at "Steeling" one in Indy, is the BUS. This guy wil not be denied. This team is peaking right about now, and Jerome ain't got too many more chances, if any, at a Ring.

Well, I am worried about the rust factor, but it's more of a handicap thing IMHO, than a detrimental factor.

Had the starters not rested for basically 3 weeks, then I would call this a blowout. My problem lies in the fact that they did sit out for 3 weeks, and (other than Peyton), I expect to see that proverbial "rust" from the regulars. Not that they won't get up for the game, but that they may be out of sync a little, thereby causing the Steelers to hang around.

If Pitt does hang around too long, then Indy could be in trouble. As I said all year, you can't rely on DB's to get the majority of the tackles. By the 4th quarter, the bus could be knocking Bob Sanders flat on about every play. If he gets 4-5 yards to build a head of steam before he even gets to the Dbs, then he can just run through them. Freeney is fast, but he's not superman; and he would have to cover a lot of ground to catch Bettis 10 yards downfield, after shooting past him on the speed rush. If the Steelers O-line takes control, we could be in trouble. Then they can control the clock, and keep Peyton from getting too many opportunities to hurt them. Like Joe said, if this happens, Peyton is likely to start gripping, and then he tries to force things. His game is to outhink, rather than to really outplay, so this is to his disadvantage.

I say Indy by 3.
31-28 on a Vandy FG as time runs out.
(If Peyton comes out and scores on the first possession, then it could get ugly in the dome). That's what we've been looking for isn't it; a chance make a run in the dome, without the weather becoming a game changing foactor?

You said earlier in the week, that whoever wins, get's the chance to lose to the Pats next week. Do you still feel like the winner here will fail in next week's conference title game verses the Donks?
I mean to be honest, the Broncos have been playoff victims to the Colts before, is it their year for retribution?

I'd rate a Indy-Denver matchup as a tossup. As for the Steelers, I really don't like how they match up on Denver, especialy IN Denver. That could be an ugly game if it happens.

I like what the Steelers are doing... with a lot of pressure being put on Manning. Seems to be rattling him early with all the time off the Colts have had.

I'm not sure it will last though.

Memo to Indy: There's this thing in football called a "blitz." This is when the defense sends more than the normal number of pssrushers on a given play. It's usually customary to try and "pick up" the blitz, by using extra backs and TEs to block the extra passrushers...since Indy doesn't seem to understand this. Should have spent more time studying football and less time calling out Whitey, Dung-heap. Especially when going up against a team that's nicknamed "Blitzburg."

Cowher obviously saw a weakness in the way Indy covers TEs downfield, and is milking it for all it's worth.

Too bad Dungy doesn't have Mike Alstott on his team, so he had an option on 3rd and 17.

You don't need a link. You merely needed to turn on your television on Sundays between 1983-1998, although he was a little better about it in his later years. My friends and I used to make bets on the O/U of how many toimes Elway would point to a reciever then look at the bench, to make sure everyone in the building knew it wasn't his fault. We'd usually set the O/U at about 2.5.

Dude was legendary for it.

Elway was quite simply one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game. If anything, he was the reason those early shit bronco teams overachieved and made the fucking super bowl. Quite amazing, considering he never had a decent set of WR's or RB worth 2 fucks until the late 90's.
