LOL!
The refs totally fucked Pittsburgh on the Polamalu INT.
COLTS = CHOKERS

I have to retract my statement. I guess the rule was correctly interpreted by the officials. Perhaps the rule should change, but the call was correct. Sure felt like a screw job at the time...

Sorry bitches, the mighty Broncos just won another Super Bowl thanks to the Colts playing like little pussies at home no less LOL.
Those NFL fixes aren't going so well for Tags so far this postseason!

HEY, I saw a game-ending INT overruled by a zebra today.
Yeah, I know the drill.........dude called it by the book.
Let's face it fans, none of us know jack shit about football, and it's rules.
The NFL Competition Committee will take
a hard look at this rule in the off-season.

After the Tuck rule bullshit Raider fan had every right to riot IMO.
Anyone who thinks the refs aren't rooting for certain teams need to get a fucking clue here.
The NFL wants what the NFL wants and the Raiders winning the Super Bowl is not on the wish list.
Pittsburgh winning in spite of the refs is pretty unreal to me.
Guess Tags can only blatantly cheat so much without appearing obvious.
Sorry to spoil your party Pat and colt fans!
Enjoy golfing.

Dude. The Steelers are gonna get OFF at Mile High.
K ????
Thin air.
Crap track.
Cold?
Whatever!
ALL things Steeler loves.
Pittsburg, 31-24.
BTW - It's not so much "Tag's" (Like it obviously is Stern in the NBA) but, I feel that the head of the officials, Feher (or whatever his name is) is the one calling these "game changing" reviews.
It took forever for the ref to talk it over on that Polamalu catch. It appeared the head ref was debating the damn thing with Feherty.
I just saw the "TD" by the Bears, that looked like he fumbled the ball WELL short of the line. They called it a TD anyway!!!!
There has GOT to be some rational explanation for why Polamalu's catch was reversed. If anyone here can pinpoint where that rule on a legal catch, or interception is, I'll forever give him props.
That dude CAUGHT, then rolled - WITH - control; like 2 rolls, THEN comes up, and fumbles! Butrecovers it!
Incomplete!?????!!??

I'm still not sure about the INT call. It sure looked to me like Troy's knee was off the ground when he lost the ball. But I'll reserve judgment until I see the Wednesday night breakdown on NFL Network.
The call that pisses me off is the non pass interference call in the 2nd quarter. Whomever was responsible for that abortion ought to be fired on the spot.

It might well have been. That seems to be what everybody is saying. I'm just saying I would be interested in seeing a frame by frame breakdown of the play and an explaination of the rule from Mike Pereira.WhatsMyName wrote:Uh, BSmack....the Polamalu INT was perhaps one of the worst referee botches in NFL history. Wake up fella!
Which brings me to a few thoughts.
Why can't the NFL supply a feed from the replay booth when calls are being reviewed? Wouldn't it be a hell of a lot more interesting to see and hear what the ref is seeing and thinking than listening to Dan Dierdorf prattle on aimlessly for 2 and a half minutes?
Also, why can't the NFL supply a spokesperson or 10 from the league who could provide on the spot explainations of calls during games. The person/persons would not even have to be on site. They could be watching the games in New York and respond on an as needed basis in the same manner that David Fay responds to rules questions at the US Open golf tournament. The NFL rulebook is a complex beast. They ought to have someone more qualified than the network hacks explaining it.

I wasn't going to speak about the officiating, but since you are AFTER A WIN, I'll provide my argument for the fact that bad officiating typically evens out in the end.BSmack wrote:I'm still not sure about the INT call. I'll give you the Polamalu pick. Knee down or not, he caught the ball. However, for your pass interference no-call, I'll raise you a face mask should-have-been either no call or offsetting call when Heinz Ward had a hold of Bob Sanders Face Mask and was forcing him down by it before Sanders' hand even grazed Ward's. Screw job to the Colts. And while were on facemasks, how about Polamalu grabbing Edgerrin James facemask as he and another Steeler took him out of bounds in the second half? Screw job to the Colts. And we can't forget the misterious no-call false start by the Steelers on 4th and 1. "Hey let's stop play and talk for 5 minutes and then say nothing happened even though the Steelers left guard rocked back in his stance no less then Tarik Glenn did in the first half leading to a call." Screw job to the Colts. And how about Jerome Bettis pulling a Reggie Bush and pushing Ben forward in the pile on the very next snap. Screw job to the Colts.
The Colts played horribly. The Steelers played well and were the better team and deserve it. But the officiating was bad for both teams.
"The definition of a catch - or in this case an interception - states that in the process of making a catch a player must maintain possession of the ball after he contacts the ground," Pereira said.
"The rule regarding the performing of an act common to the game applies when there is contact with a defensive player and the ball comes loose, which did not happen here."

Did you watch the same game I saw? Ward's hand never grabbed Sanders' face mask, he stiff armed Sanders. At the very worst, Ward might have been guilty of illegal hands to the face, which would have been negated by the 15 yard personal foul call anyway.
As for Polamalu tackling James, Troy brought James down by grabbing the earhole of James' helmet, not the face mask.
As for the phantom false start, I'll give you that. But that's about it. Bettis sure as hell wasn't doing anything that would have rated a call ever. There's a reason Reggie Bush "got away" with it. It's because nobody EVER calls that.
I will give you that there are bad calls that go both ways. But the timing of the calls that went against the Steelers was such that reasonable people might have assumed that Vince McMahon was calling the shots in the NFL and not Paul Tagliabue.

That "do over" call was maybe the worst call I've ever seen in NFL history. A bad call is a bad call, but a NO call. WTF is that!?!?!? It had no outcome on the game but was a shining example of how putrid the officiating was. There was either a penalty on Pitt for false start of on Indy for offsides, but this is the NFL not backyard football you can't call a fucking "do over".
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
