Explain to me HOW the Seahawks can't stop Steve Smith
Explain to me HOW the Seahawks can't stop Steve Smith
This is not like basketball where one guy can control a game and just put up 40 shots and drop in 56 points and kick your ass by himself.
I cannot understand for the life of me HOW this game isn't a lock for Seattle. How do they even have a chance in hell? The Panthers have NOBODY at receiver and NOBODY at tight end that could scare anyone. Esp. losing Muhammad in the offseason....there's no possession receiver worth a damn.
For Christs sake....after Smith's asinine 103 catches for 12 TDs, their leading receiver was DeShaun Foster...who's OUT.
Next in line statistically? Ricky freaking Proehl with 25 catches for 4 TDs.
They have NOTHING...understand me....NOTHING outside of Steve Smith.
Leading active rusher is Nick Goings with 133 yards and a sparkling 3.6 average.
It's simple...lock Smith the hell up and just let the other NFL Europe players they have on offense beat you.
it's OVER. Seattle will win by 14. Smith will catch 7 passes for 78 yards, no touchdowns.

Yeah, with a cumulative 6 months professional experience at DB, there's no way Seattle won't stop the #1 WR in the NFL.
Genius observation.
I think this game boils down to one thing, for the most part -- one team has been there in the last couplefew years, one team has been there...never.
I don't see this ending well for Seattle. I'm working on getting a ticket, but it's not looking good for that.

Yeah...no problem at all.
it aint that simple, otherwise it would have been done.
seattle is still a paper tiger, IMO.

And he's banged up and may not even play. Another bad sign for Carolina.
I'm not buying the logic that Fox will find a way to get the ball to Smith. I'm not dogging Proehl either....but the fact of the matter is, they had to beg him to play another year just to be a slot receiver, and now he's #2. EVENTUALLY not having a single threat at ALL besides ONE player will come back to bite you. The Bears were simply too stupid, like Michael Irvin said on ESPN. STUPID to go man-to-man. They will double and triple team him and LOCK HIM UP.
I have nothing against Carolina; I'm just baffled as to how teams can be so stupid when the formula is so simple. Seattle will show everyone how to stop him...they have game film.

Peppers has a minor shoulder injury. He was held out of practice as a precaution- he will play. And with those young CB's- they hit Smith for a screen or end around and he'll still pick up 20-30 yards at a time.
And don't dicount Goings.. the year he started when Foster/Davis were out he had 5 100 yard rushing games. His YPC is a misrepesentation of how he did. They had NO weapons in the reciving game that year since Smith was out- so he had everyone and their mother in the box to stop him.

Heck, you should call the Seattle front office and let them know that you have The Key to winning this weekend; I'm sure they won't laugh at you and hang up.

Lots of bandwagonning Panther fans here.
I'll see you in here Sunday around 6:00 as the Seahawks are raising the NFC consolation trophy and Holmgren is answering questions from Pam Oliver "how did you shut down Steve Smith??"
I'm sure he'll look at her and do this
and say "Just have everyone key in on him....Carolina doesn't have anything else on offense. The Bears are dumbasses for not realizing it."

He's not as flashy as Foster or as strong as Davis. But he can get the job done if he needs to.

Alexander will be back Sunday.
THey just showed on ESPN how easy it is to shut down Steve Smith.
Merrill Hoge was demonstrating that it's all about where he ends up, and how as a defender you have to stay in your shoes and square your shoulders and stay with him on a reverse. They drew it up and made it clear that the Seahawks will make Smith a non-factor. Goings had 133 yards all year and Alexander had 1,800. Yet you fairweather Panther fans keep pointing to the baby blue colors and sucking up to them.
6 o'clock Sunday can't get here soon enough....not so much that Seattle will win, but that the STORY will be how the game was won because of the way the Seahawks clammed up on STeve Smith and made Coughlin and Lovie Smith look like shit heads for not using a simple formula to contain him in the playoffs. "Smith Shut Down, Lack of Any Other Threat On Offense Kills Carolina" will be the headline, not "Seahawks Win NFC Title For First Time"
See you Sunday.

Btw and just so's you know....Smith is going to light it up against the 'hags just like he's done all season to everybody else.

See you in here tomorrow night. You refuse to listen to my simple logic and it will haunt you. Goings will be a NON-FACTOR. The Seahawks tackling has been phenominal as of late and they even shut Portis down last week. It's loud as shit in Seattle, much more than in Chicago, and there are too many things working against your Panthers. Now's your chance to back out and say that I am right and that the Seahawks will win win. Don't let time slip away....I plan on coming in here tomorrow night and calling out all of you by name; don't be on that list.

As for my "accusation", I was just passing on some info that others had posted, so it really wasn't my accusation. Stupid fuck, why don't you get back to abusing a bowl of mashed 'taters, or stalking 12 year old boys in your pimped out ride, or whatever else it is that you do well, 'cause it certainly ain't acting like an NFL forum mod. I gave you a chance to retract your takes but you refused to do so.
I was proven right- that it is EASY to lock up Steve Smith since the Panthers didn't have SHIT besides him on offense. You dickfucks were to enamoured with the highlight reels of Mr. Smith that you jumped on his dick and called me a moron for thinking that he could be stopped. He didn't do a fucking thing today on offense....was rendered a NON-FACTOR and was completely taken out of the game.
Even when it dot out of hand he couldn't get his catches
They were still quadruple teaming him. Anyone hear him bitching at the half? "They got FOUR GUYS on me!"
EXACTLY what I said would happen, Steve, and exactly what the other dumbfucks in this thread refused to believe.
He was pouting like a bitch on the sidelines the whole game....I don't blame him. What a rout. Rack the Seahawks for exposing the Giants and Bears as dumbasses. That was simple as hell.
