They made no such agreement. They did agree to allow their polls to be part of the BCS ranking process, but that was the extent to which the AP was ever "part of the BCS process."Vito Corleone wrote:To my understanding the AP agreeded to be part of the BCS process. Dude, that'd just be in horribly poor taste. There are some things a little more important than college football, and beyond joking matter.SoCalTrjn wrote:There is talk on USC boards of buying a billboard near LSU's stadium that says

Which is incorrect, and I have no idea why you ever gained such an understanding...Vito wrote:To my understanding...
I'm forced to agree with Van. Why is everyone so offended by USC claiming a national championship in 2003? Just because ESPN repeadely tounges SC nation's collective asses and, in the process, totally ignores LSU doesn't mean that real college football fans feel the same way. There is no shame in title-sharing when the two best teams didn't play. Until the current (mockery of a) system is changed, its the only real solution in such a scenario.Van wrote:Which is incorrect, and I have no idea why you ever gained such an understanding...Vito wrote:To my understanding...
The AP never agreed to change their vote. You merely assumed they would and now you're trumpeting an erroneous assumption as fact.
The AP's only connection with the whole BCS process was to be one component in their overall scoring system. The AP never made any agreement to make sure their final vote matched the ESPN/USA Today coaching poll.
88, considering USC led Texas by twelve with six minutes left and would've won that game fairly easily were it not for a slew of uncharacteristic mistakes, yes, I'd say the AP writers (as well as the UPI coaches) were right on in having USC ranked #1 heading into that game.
USC's performance in the Rose Bowl certainly did nothing to belie that ranking. They ended up barely losing the game but their performance certainly didn't leave anybody saying, "Yep, they never belonged. They were exposed, yada yada..."
You people keep talking about class, and how much of it USC Fan showed following our Rose Bowl defeat?
Well, where's your class? All of a sudden the vultures are out and USC was a one season wonder?
Sorry, asswipes. They were the best program in the nation for four years running. They're two plays away from having three straight undefeated seasons and they're two plays and a choking kicker away from having four straight undefeated seasons.
Now you people are trying to revise history by saying the AP "cheated" in 2003, even though they were conspicuously operating autonomously; they were under no contractual agreement to reverse their vote and vote against their conscience.
Only the coaches agreed to place themselves in that position. The writers did not.
I'd like to see one of you present the contract that shows where the AP ever agreed to march in lock step with the ESPN/USA Today coaches, even to the point of being compelled to reverse their vote...
Comedy.
Class? From USC Hater?
From ND Fan, sure, and that's to be expected. The rest of you USC Haters though, you need to look in the mirror.
USC could not have beaten either team. Your conference plays shit for defense.....shit. Last year's AU team would have rolled USC.Van wrote:Nobody but nobody denies LSU their title in 2003. Had LSU won a title in 2004 and again been in the running in 2005 the media would've been talking "Three Peat!!" for them exactly the same as they did with USC...
The media was all over USC simply because they managed to sustain it for three seasons. (Four seasons, actually, considering their stature at the end of the 2002 season...)
The media would've been all over any top level team that did that...
T Rex, no, they don't give a "three year award". They give single season awards, and in 2003 the writers (the voting block that was free to vote their conscience) voted USC as their MNC.
Everybody did so again in 2004 and everybody did so again for nearly all of 2005. Had USC stopped VY on that final fourth and eight, ie, one play, all you'd be left to bitch about is some pet peeve notion that the SEC didn't get their crack at USC in 2003 and 2004...
It works both ways, hero. USC didn't get their crack at LSU in 2003 or Auburn last year, and with USC's offensive and defensive balance those two seasons you're not going to be able to make too much of a case that USC couldn't have beaten those two teams.
What does Katrina have to do with the overratedness of USC?SoCalTrjn wrote:you would have to be a total fucking tool to not think that USC improved at least if not more than Allbarn did since USC embarassed those inbred fagots infront of their inbred fans the year before.
Leinart made his first start in that game, Bush and White were true freshman who never left the bench in their first game, the team was littered with guys making their very first start and Allbarn was a veteran team playing at home after some publications had them picked pre season #1

Then again, I suppose I shouldn't expect any more from wearesc.com than that.
BtH, at no point have I ever said USC was the best in 2002. Obviously they weren't and I've never attempted to make any such argument.Believe the Heupel wrote:Either Miami or Ohio State would have dominated USC in 2002. A convincing argument can be made that Oklahoma would have.
Face facts. USC was NOT the best team in the country in 2002. 2003, possibly. 2004, most definitely. 2005, definitely not.
USC LOST to both Kansas State AND Auburn.
You have NO argument that USC was the best team in 2002.
Vito, don't lump all SC fans in with idiots who'd make those Katrina statements.Vito Corleone wrote:Hey Sky, what did I tell you. SC would make nice for a couple of weeks and then it was business as usual.
USCfan is just bitter the bandwaggon just broke down and now they have to walk back to oblivion.Van wrote:Vito, don't lump all SC fans in with idiots who'd make those Katrina statements.Vito Corleone wrote:Hey Sky, what did I tell you. They're the exceptions, by far, not the rule.
Led to beLIEve......sure whatever. Hard pressed? SOS matched and broke several records by a guy named Bear Bryant while coach at UF. UMIII is building something special here. Write it down, whatever. FSU had something like 14 straight seasons in the top 5. USC never did it. You have one title and now suddenly you think you are all that. This is what I am talking about. Sit the fuck down your turn is over. Now BACK to oblivion.Van wrote:T Rex, just like I'd been led to believe by some of the long timers here, yep, you really are a classless douche...
FSU or Florida, whichever team you claim to folllow, it doesn't matter; either team will be hard pressed to achieve the sort of "oblivion" USC has managed and will continue to manage for the foreseeable future.
Not exactly sweatin' you. Just sayin'.
Maybe a dose of humbleness will do them some good but USC was unbearable. Period.Believe the Heupel wrote:OU had a seven point lead against USC in the Orange Bowl last year before we made uncharacteristic mistakes. Clearly OU is the best team of all time.

My money's on adel. I think he's been burnt out on meth for years, but there was once something there.
This other fella', perhaps he needs to get on meth...anything would be an improvement.
Smack? Katrina smack? That's right up there with gay/homo, mom, and spelling smack. It's just not funny. In fact, its quite stupid. It does not take much to think of that. I guess that's why lesser intellects use those areas for smack. Too stupid to think of anything actually witty.SoCalTrjn wrote:Its a fuckin message board, get over it.

Before you start running your trap about the South, I think that you should take a strong look at where you hail from. A place full of illegal immigrants that farm the food you eat and sell fucking oranges on every corner. If you want to talk about toothless dolts, go up to Vacaville, Eureka, Atwater and tell me about smarts. I cannot believe you would make a crack about innicent people that were killed from a Hurricane. I hope you get in a fight with a carpole on the way home from your "girls" house and fucking lose.SoCalTrjn wrote:Its funny to people who sit here every yearand see the same dumbass cities full of the same dumb ass people get knocked out by hurricanes and then get the toothless dolts on TV only to see them say "we're gonna rebuild." its right up there with the tornado idiots, the flood idiots and the mudslide idiots
What was funnier was the dumbass governor of Louisisna asking for a day of prayer instead of getting off her ass and getting the federal aid workers in to the state and then some no name no talent rapper saying that hurricanes and the president hate black people
