My kids attend a public elementary in the Pittsburgh public school district. I picked them up today...and arrived to see the entire school in the auditorium amidst a Steeler pep rally. It's funny to see my 4 year old daughter running around chanting "here we go Steelers"...there's a lot of excitement around town, seemingly more than in 1995.

I remember 95 very well. Even with Switzer coaching the Cowboys, there was this air of inevitability to Super Bowl XXX. Shit, the last time an AFC team had won the Super Bowl was in 83. And the Cowboys were a juggernaut. But even 95 was a good time. A very special game even if it was the wrong outcome.

Agreed. There is significantly more excitement here in the 'burgh than '95. Not sure why though. Possibilities:

1. The Steelers are being led by phenom Big Ben, not O'Donnell (who was not too shabby as a QB, btw)
2. Most likely Bettis' last game
3. The Steelers are favored to win... which ads a can of lighter fluid to the fire burning in this town. People are already celebrating the win.

Oh, saw my first and only sighting of any sort of Seahawk garb last night in my local Giant Eagle... some 40-something wearing a Seahawk jersey. But that's been IT.

I've been talking about O'Donnell a lot lately. Yeah, he choked in gigantic fashion, but he really did have a great season to get them to the Super Bowl.

I'm so sick of fucks who run around and say that so and so sucks because he didn't win the big one. There's a hell of a lot of factors that are at play in a championship season. Only a football idiot looks at a career like Marino's and contends that he sucks because he didn't win. To a certain extent, I believe the same of Cowher.

You won't read me crying about Cowher sucking if the Steelers lose tomorrow. He's done a hell of a job in his years as the Steeler HC. He's not exceptional, but he's as good as you'd want him to be. The real exceptional aspect of the Steelers is the Rooney family, but that's for another thread, there may be some UCan't wrasslin' to get to yet here.
