Hey Killian, TiC and Legacy
Saw this on a Rivals board. You guys would give Charlie a lifetime contract.

Related to the Tennesee Claussens? I don't know if the spelling's the same, just wondering.

I'd agree with Killian.
As for Weis getting a lifetime contract, I don't think ND would ever give that to any coach. And even if they did, it's doubtful the coach would want to stay that long. Holtz stayed 11 years, and I believe that's the record, at least so far.
When I was a student at ND, the school newspaper, The Observer, once referred to the Notre Dame head coaching position as "the second toughest job in America." Tongue-in-cheek, I suppose, but not quite as far as one might be inclined to believe.

He actually got that at some camps, not from his coach.Cicero wrote:Jimmy Claussen. The Lebron James of HS football, or so says his coach.
But yes, it is Jimmy Clausen, younger brother of Rick and Casey.

This comes from the little brother of the B-ball player at Duke. Apparently he is a big time recruit as well. I believe Charlie is pretty confident that he is getting Clausen, many believe that is why we didn't accept Mustain this year.
Mike Paulus Quote
"Coach Weis told me they are only recruiting me and Jimmy Clausen at quarterback," Paulus said. "If Clausen picks another school, then he told me the spot is mine. I should get an idea from Notre Dame in a couple months what Clausen is going to do."
In any event we all know how super hyped QB's can flop. Ron Powlus anyone? In Ron's defense he was brought in under an Option Attack regime. Jimmy would be in far better shape learning under the Weis One.

Hell, dude can't be any worse than the other two.
The older I get the more and more I hate recruiting and everything that goes with it. I signed a letter to the NCAA that was passed around at a RICE alumni gathering a few weeks ago in which it asked for a much more limited recruiting season, with fewer contacts, no text messages and limits on email and letters.

Not to go internet stalker of high school players, but if we can't get Claussen, this guy would be a nice consolation prize, as Legacy alluded:

Supposedly, Paulus has narrowed his choices to six: Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, ND, Syracuse and USC.
Just a hunch, but I think he'll wind up either at ND or USC, whichever one doesn't get Claussen. Of course, since he's out-of-state, Schmick wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot-pole.

Paulus looks like an awesome player, and in any other year, he would have his pick of schools. His top two right now are ND and Michigan. If Clausen goes to ND and Mallett goes to UofM, one of the top QB's in the country won't be able to pick his own school.
I have a funny feeling that Mallett will drag his feet too long and Paulus will pull the trigger for UofM.

I highly doubt it on Thompson. He's from the Belle Glades area so to say his grades are a iffy is optimistic, at best.
Benn is almost as a done deal as Clausen. Little will follow, and I think we have a great chance with Kumara. It will come down to us, PSU and USC, I believe.

I'll be at the Blue and Gold game. Not doing the breakfast thing, didn't have the money at the time to buy the tickets.
As for Austin and Martin, I think ND has a very good shot at both. Getting Benn would certainly help with Austin, and it helps that Martin doesn't play in an OSU dominated area of Ohio.

Bump this, because it is going to be very relevant around 8:30 am tomorrow. South Bend Mayor said that there is a press confrence scheduled at the CFB HOF before some other scheduled events where a "national recruit has something to announce".
This will likely domino at least two other players this weekend, with the possibility that number getting as high as 5.
Great day to be an Irish fan.
