Leinart > Young

Post by WhatsMyName »

If I'm building my team around a young quarterback, give me Leinart.

If my team sucks ass and I need someone to carry the team on his back, give me Young.

If I have a great team with a great system already in place, with a great line and great backs and receivers, Leinart is better.

If my teams sucks ass in all possible ways, Young will be able to salvage more out of it.

If I'm a GM, my plan isn't to put my QB on a shitty team for many years. My plan is to build a nucleus of talent around him. There's a ceiling with Young that isn't there with Leinart. Young will be a highlight reel on crap teams and his free-spirit style of play will snakebite him in the ass in a designed offensive system. Leinart will become a part of his system and make other players the highlight reel. The choice is easy.

Young is destined to be an Oakland Raider. As Young plunges down league draft boards one can just imagine Al Davis scheming a way to trade picks to move up to pick Young.

I don't see Young as an Al guy at all.

I'd be floored if Oakland took him.

Not if the Jets swap picks with the Texans and get Leinart, as has been speculated. That would leave New Orleans to take Young, possibly. Then again, could they really pass on Reggie even if they already have Deuce? Who knows.

There were (maybe still are) rumors of Culpepper heading to Oakland.
Vince Young reminds me a lot of Culpepper.

I don't know that Young has near the big arm that Culpepper does.

For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of the idea of Culpepper coming to Oakland either.

Street ball may win you some regular season games, but I'm not convinced it'll take you where you really want to go.

For one, WHo gives two shits if McNair and Young are boys, this isnt the playground. Chow has already said publicly that he isnt to high on tailoring a new scheme around Young. I see Tennessee moving up to nab Leinart.

Two, comparing VY's arm to Culpepper's is a slap in the face to Culpepper. He has a missile, just it doesnt seem to be as accurate w/ out Moss.
