Your team's schedule

Post by indyfrisco »

I'm not proud of this schedule. we usually book 1 good OOC game. This year, we didn't.

9/02 The Citadel
9/09 Louisiana-Lafayette
9/16 vs. Army
9/23 Louisiana Tech
9/30 Texas Tech
10/07 @ Kansas
10/14 Missouri
10/21 @ Oklahoma State
10/28 @ Baylor
11/04 Oklahoma
11/11 Nebraska
11/24 @ Texas

Seriously, there is no reason we should not be 9-0 heading into the OU game where we face OU and NU at home before going on the road to t.u.

2006 has got to be our year.

We have the easiest schedule that I have ever seen from FSU. I mean it really is pretty sad. 8 Home games and 4 Away. We should not loose, but we will...at least 3, based on the fact that we still do not have the needed skillz and depth on the OL.
Weatherford will take it to the next level and be viewed as a better QB than Leak by the end of the year, you can take that to the bank.

Been done before, but . . .

Sept 02 @ Georgia Tech
Sept 09 PENN STATE
Sept 16 MICHIGAN
Sept 23 @ Michigan St.
Sept 30 PURDUE
Oct 07 STANFORD
Oct 21 UCLA
Oct 28 @ Navy (Baltimore)
Nov 04 NORTH CAROLINA
Nov 11 @ Air Force
Nov 18 ARMY
Nov 25 @ Southern Cal

I like how that shapes up. Toughest stretch of the schedule is at the very beginning (Georgia Tech on the road, followed by consecutive home games against Penn State and Michigan, then Michigan State, who always plays us tough). We get our bye exactly mid-season, and a bunch of relative creampuffs prior to USC.

I think the one game that can sneak up and bite us is North Carolina. If we get out of the GT, PSU, UM, MSU stretch with no losses, this game scares me. Right between two option offenses in Navy and AF, and NC has done it before (FSU, Miami). Wouldn't be a bite if a ND legacy kicks the game winning field goal for North Carolina? Ty never offered Conner Barth.

9/2 MCNEESE STATE
9/9 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
9/16 @ UCF
9/23 @ Kansas
9/29 RUTGERS
10/7 UCONN
10/14 @ North Carolina
10/21 @ Cincinnati
11/4 PITT
11/11 SYRACUSE
11/18 @ Louisville
11/25 @ West Virginia

A much easier schedule than last season. The two toughest games are on the road at the end of the season. We have some holes to fill, so I think there is might be an early season loss that I wouldn't normally expect. I think we could be undefeated in the Big East leading into those last 2 games, which I feel we'll lose.

9-3 would be a nice record for this team and hopefully a trip to the Gator Bowl.

I agree that our schedule is a little too cream puff, but we will make up for it in 07. Still FSU has to play MIA on the road, NC STate on the road, BC at home,UF at home and the ACCCG.

I think this team goes 12-1, 11-2 and I agree w/ your take on Drew. he is going to be special.

I see us no worse than 10-2. We have a tough start with Ohio State. That should be another classic. The only other real tough game is OU. At best we go 11-1. It is tough breaking in a Freshman QB.

2006 SCHEDULE

Sept. 2 Image @ Image
Sept. 9 BYE
Sept. 16 Minnesota
Sept. 23 Washington

Nov. 4 Oregon
Nov. 11 @ USC
Nov. 18 Stanfurd

Outta the gates with a game at Tenn. should be a good test. I can't remember Cal playing a game with 105,000 people in the seats that want to see you lose. Both teams should be ranked pretty high, with some polls having both of them in the top 10.

In the heart of SEC country, Cal will show them a little Pac 10 football. Should be one of the better games to start off the season.

Then a game with the Big 10 and Minnesota. Tough start, but it should be a good indicator of how the season will go.

Sept. 2 vs. Northern Illinois
Sept. 9 at Texas
Sept. 16 vs. Cincinnati
Sept. 23 vs. Penn State
Sept. 30 at Iowa
Oct. 7 vs. Bowling Green
Oct. 14 at Michigan State
Oct. 21 vs. Indiana
Oct. 28 vs. Minnesota
Nov. 4 at Illinois
Nov. 11 at Northwestern
Nov. 18 vs. Michigan

Depending on what Tressel and Co. can do to revamp the D, tOSU can possibly run the board. Shouldn't be much of a problem scoring with most of the key offensive players returning. Keeping my fingers crossed that everyone stays out of trouble.
Biggest game (outside of our annual smackdown of scUM), of course, is in Austin on Sept 9. Sure am glad VY has moved on. :D

See TRIX, you missed the point of this exercise. It was to post your team's schedule and offer an opinion. You seem only to be able to post FSU facts which is understandable b/c like most UF fans, you are infatuated w/ the Seminoles.

I am giving you a check minus on this assignment, but I will give you full credit if you post your schedule w/ a little commentary.

Michigan:
Sept. 2 VANDERBILT
Sept. 9 CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Sept. 16 at Notre Dame
Sept. 23 WISCONSIN
Sept. 30 at Minnesota
Oct. 7 MICHIGAN STATE
Oct. 14 at Penn State
Oct. 21 IOWA
Oct. 28 NORTHWESTERN
Nov. 4 BALL STATE
Nov. 11 at Indiana
Nov. 18 at Ohio State

At Notre Dame, at Minnesota, at Penn State, and at Ohio State is going to be very, very tough. The only home game that you can almost pencil in as a close game is Michigan State, who has taken us to OT the past 2 years and still has Drew Stanton under center. The two toughest games are practically the first and last games, at Notre Dame and at Ohio State. The Notre Dame game is basically going to eliminate all hopes of playing for the National Championship for one of us, hopefully them. I really don't know what to make of the Ohio State game yet because we don't know how their defense is going to look yet. In a perfect world, we would both be going into the game undefeated, but this isn't a perfect world. I'm very anxious to seeing what are team is going to look like with the coaching changes on both offense and defense.

There isn't a team out there that plays a more difficult non-conf schedule than we do. Two BCS teams last year, the defending national champs, UCLA on the road, and hell even Cougar High went bowling last season.

Now, I am not sure this is the way we should be scheduling with a new staff, but hey, it sure does help recruiting when you can point to all these games.

9-2 Louisiana Tech
9-9 Nicholls St. :meds:
9-16 @ Southern Cal ( will be fun to see where we are)
9-23 Troy
9-30 Kansas (losses a ton from a very tough defense. Revenge part 1)
10-7 @ Iowa St. (they'll be geeked for NU, will be a good offensive team.)
10-14 @ Kansas St. (new system, some growing pains)
10-21 Texas (This game will be a shocker to UT fan. Harv?)
10-28 @ Oklahoma St. (NU could get trapped here.)
11-4 Missouri (Revenge part 2, will have a good QB, Chase Daniels)
11-11 @ Texas A&M (Tough place to go.)
11-24 Colorado (No freakin' problem! :P )

Looks like 8-4, but as long as NU can keep Zac Taylor on the field and not lose all the linebackers to injury like last year, 9-3 or 10-2 possible.
If we can get solid safety & corner play, NU will have it's best defense since 1999. The D-line and 'backers will be nails.

9/2 -- Alabama-Birmingham (5-6)
9/9 -- Washington (2-9)
9/16 -- at Oregon (10-2)
9/23 -- Middle Tennessee State (4-7)
9/30 -- Open
10/7 -- Texas (13-0) at Dallas
10/14 -- Iowa State (7-5)
10/21 -- Colorado (7-6)
10/28 -- at Missouri (7-5)
11/4 -- at Teas A&M (5-6)
11/18 -- Texas Tech (5-6)
11/25 -- at Oklahoma State (9-3)
12/2 -- Big 12 Championship (Kansas City)

He is ALL that is behind Taylor, due to the last minute defection of in coming freshman Josh Freeman to Kansas St. Callahan and crew made a promise not to recruit anyone else in the class. Kid was verballed since June of 05 and pulled the switcharoo 2 weeks before signing. Will make an interesting scenerio when he lines up against the Blackshirts, probably 2 years from now. Ron Prince (KSU coach) made a promise the kid wouldn't sit the bench and some here believe he felt he would have a hard time beating Beck out. NU didn't assure him it was his team for the taking.

So Beck's about it. It Taylor goes down, well no one has a clue to what might happen to the season. The backups are not Big 12 caliber by a long shot. Beck's thrown only 10 passes in just over a quarter of playing time. 1 complete, (to get a 1st down that allowed NU to boot a 46 yarder to beat KSU in the last minute.) 1 INT that could have lost the game.

Beck's got all the arm strength in the world, but has been having trouble delivering the ball on target since he's been at Nebraska. He definitley was humbled last year, and trust me, all eyes will be on his developement this spring.

NU is looking long and hard at QBs across the nation and has made a boat load of offers to all the major players.

I shouldn't comment on this joke of a schedule because it simply pisses me off. Way to conduct yourself like a top ten program. I guess all the local community colleges and beauty schools were booked when they planned this OOC gauntlet. I suppose the timing is fortuitous considering they will be breaking in a new QB this season.

To add to Silky's post...This is the toughest schedule I can remember. Probably because of the tough year we had last season.

I like having 2 tune ups pre-ND. Vandy's no gimme, but the departure of Cutler should make it a w.

The interesting stretch, to me, is 3 straight revenge games. ND, Wisconsin, and Minnie. I think we'll be fired up to avenge 3 tough losses.

Once that's through there's no time to rest as Sparty comes to town. Assuming we get by them its off to Happy Valley. I know we've won 7 straight vs. JoPa, but that's got to end sometime.

No rest because Kirk Ferentz and his band of future NFL Hall of Famers comes a calling. After that game it's clear sailing until we go to Columbus. The Conference title should be on the line in this one. We owe the vested one a little something. Lloyd and his new coordinators get it done.

A huge key to the season will be the health of Mike Hart. When he's on the field the team is so much better. Henne with another year under his belt should be better too.

Better analysis as the season nears.

11-1.

I was hoping for a couple of open weeks before the ND game but it looks like they have stacked the last month and a half with 6 straight weeks of games.

Those three big roadies are going to be a bitch. I can't see them losing less than 3 games this year. They'll paste the Spartans in the Big House...I'm not worried about that. They missed their chance this past year. They can possibly run the table in the home half of the ledger but they'll lose at Notre Dame and Ohio State at least and I'm not excited about going to Happy Valley against the rejuvenated Lions with revenge on their mind. If not for that Henne-to-Manningham hook up, they might've been playing for the whole enchilada this January. I know this smacks in the face of my annual expectations for them every year of a national title or bust...I'm just a little worried about the defense and can Henne win the big game? Offensively, they'll be exciting but they probably won't be able to stop most teams. I'm losing faith in Lloyd as well...he needs to win me back with a big season and beat the vest in the Horseshoe and a possible title game bid on the line for the Buckeyes. If they win the Texas game, I say they run the table and Michigan is going to have a helluva time beating them in C-bus with a shot at getting back to the national championship game.
