I would have agreed with you until I read the explanation in USA Today's cover story. It makes sense, now.

The STOP SNITCHING campaign isn't about witness intimidation. It's about people who do dirty getting out of punishment for doing dirty by singing like a canary.

It's one thing to see something horrible go down.

It's another thing entirely to be in on horrible things going down, and not be punished for the dirt you do yourself because the authorities are going after a specific perp.. who ain't you, at the time.

It's a worse thing to not only be in on horrible things, but to make up shit in order to get out of punishment for things you may or may not have done but you don't have adequate representation to defend yourself against the charges without 'cooperating'.

STOP SNITCHING is about asking criminals not to suck up to the authorities and even MAKE UP SHIT in order to get out of punishment. That's all. And that aspect of it, I agree with.
